No...I was talking to Shrike about Lew and the subprime mortgage crisis, and assumed that's what you were referring to.

Yeah, you live in California, so congratulations on being able to write in your meaningless protest vote without it actually mattering, then feeling superior to us who have to vote pragmatically.

It's not a protest vote if you actually believe the person you voted for should be president.

A protest vote would be voting Johnson or Stein when you don't think either is right to lead just because you don't like Clinton and Trump.

And yeah, I probably would have voted Clinton if I still lived in NC. I'm not going to hide that, and it gives me zero feeling of superiority. It makes me feel worse about being a Democrat and how shit the party has been this entire year.

That is just, well ...... wrong. The only "battleground" states where he's currently leading are Iowa and Ohio, and of those two really only Iowa looks completely gone. He also needs to win Florida, Nevada and North Carolina, where he's currently behind.

Then, he needs to win a state like Colorado, which Hillary has never trailed in. Or Pennsylvania, where Hillary has never trailed in. Or Wisconsin, where Hillary has never trailed in. Or New Hampshire, where Hillary has never trailed. Or ..... well you get the point.

Anyway, I was somewhat ridiculed earlier for pointing out that 538 was behaving more like a snapshot poll aggregator than an accurate predictor of the state of the race. Someone care to defend their current outlier status without referring to historical performance?

Hell, I'll defend him. The only way you could give Trump >30% chance of winning this election is by pricing in the possibility of massive polling error in multiple states, which is what I guess 538 doing.

538 is factoring the relative closeness of the state races, many within the margin of errors, and this is creating the wider uncertainty in their prediction.

Pointing out "trump has never been up" doesn't really matter if he has the momentum and the race is polling very closely. You also need to factor on this isn't a normal election. And, the current swing towards trump is largely from Gary Johnson voters coming back to the he GOP-- the Johnson vote was more than enough to eclipse Clinton.

By Election Day it doesn't seem likely trump can break through the Colorado firewall, and none of the other states have the mementum currently where trump should win, but I'm inclined to believe their model that the race is very close.

Ok so we pretend Iowa is solid Trump and Colorado is a toss-up. He has to win 5 coin flips. That's not close.

Latino vote coming in yuuuuuuuuuge in Florida.

I'm not gonna bother looking it up, but I posted back in August how this race already over because Trump had no chance at winning Florida due to the latino vote. Early vote is bearing that out.

cmon man thats just ridiculous race baiting even by sjw standards. he's obviously saying the ones coming across the border looking for a better life are peasants. Lets not pretend the wealthy elite of mexico are racing across the border. i disagree with the statement and think its wrong but you seem to be intentionally distorting his words

The people racing across the border aren't the ones voting, because they can't vote.

Also the ones in Florida aren't generally coming from across the border anyway.

We can't go on much longer without getting people to vote. I think we need to make people pay a hefty fine if they don't vote and also make election day a national holiday so that there is nothing else to do. Thoughts?

Hey E Man great news, YOU CAN DO THIS!

There are multiple websites that will allow you to do this. Wouldn't you like to have more money? You keep saying shit like this over and over, wouldn't your time be better spent actually placing the bets? Where are the screenshots of your positions?

I don't know. If people experience any or multiple of the following conditions would you feel a holiday is needed?

- multiple jobs
- long lines to vote
- no close voting locations
- don't have access to reliable transportation

And even if you don't absolutely NEED the holiday, what exactly is your argument against it?

ha voting can take hours. must be nice to live in a place with no people or lines, especially since Gerrymandering and election laws can deliberately make it impossible to vote by eliminating the number of polling places...

It only takes 10 minutes to vote if you live in a rural or suburban area. Where most white people live, coincidentally.

It takes about 10 minutes now just to fill in all the bubbles now that they eliminated straight ticket voting. Waited about half an hour in line on a Tuesday at 3:30 to vote early in Clayton

So it sounds like more polling places could resolve those issues before we ask employers to foot the bill, yet again.

what? 10 minutes? seriuosly? you have to leave work, drive to a polling station, sometimes fight traffic to find a parking space, wait in line, fill out the form, get back to your car, out of the parking lot and drive back to work. It took me over 2 hours yesterday to do this. I had to use vacation time and didn't have time to eat lunch. Fortunately I have a car, it'sd probably take much longer if i had to rely on public transportation.

Encouraging the dumb, uninformed masses to vote is the worst thing we can do. Most of the college kids voting couldn't even pass a citizenship test.

Democrats want the gullible masses to vote since they control them via the media. With immigration bringing them millions of dependent, low IQ voter bases they obviously want any dumbass they can get to vote for bigger government.

Wait, who is the hack complaining about everyone being upset regarding the polling places?

I fully support having a holiday to go vote. But then you get into this thing where if someone wants to early vote, then you need to provide a floating holiday, etc. But I've always wondered why we didn't get paid time off to vote.

And 10 minutes is a joke. Like someone said, to responsibly fill out one of those ballots, it takes 10 minutes just to do that. Not even factoring in driving/walking/riding to the polling center, parking, standing in line. At the very least I bet it takes the average worker 45 minutes to vote from end to end.

I don't understand. I'm sitting here agreeing that we either need PTO or more polling places to vote. Workers shouldn't have to lose money to perform their civic duty.

And I asked who because I didn't see anyone complaining. At least not JCE, and he's usually the hack we're talking about.

You have to realize that many of the most vocal anti-hillary voters are just as dumb (and in many cases, much less informed) than your average college student? If you left your echo chamber, you'd surely realize that and be forced to reevaluate your false narrative.

republican and democrat voters are both extremely misinformed. Its rude to call either dumb. You can't really help it when the information you are being fed by the parties is what makes you believe these things. Republicans have blown dog whistles for years on the crazy things trump is saying and democrats have had the "republicans hate women and minorities so you have to vote for us" message for my entire life.

voting is the best way to learn about the country. It engages you to pay attention to what you voted for.
