Injury bug is biting some ACC teams already, definitely going to be big to avoid that. We saw what injuries can do to a team last year(Freeman and Henderson).

Also, we have depth, but we really can't afford to lose a big man at this point. Won't have Yurtseven for a while and there is no telling how long Kapita is going to be out for.

yurt has incredible hands and passing skills for a guy that big, and he moves up and down the court with ease. If this dude has a reliable pick and pop then I can live without the rebounds.

Yurt is great at rebounding though, it's just going to take him some time to get use to the college game.

That's why it stinks he got 9 games, really needed some "tune-up" games before ACC play. Will be interesting to see how Kapita shakes out, but it's a bad sign that he hasn't suited up for a game yet.

That is true. I can't help but think that in terms of "raw potential", he is really only second to DSJ on this year's squad. But DSJ is a freak that we probably don't really deserve to have, so that is saying quite a lot in terms of raw talent. Despite this being footage from two scrimmages, this is a talented squad that he is running with, and we haven't seen a true big move like him since probably going all the way back to Little Head Ced. Even more impressive to his skill set is that he has the hands and passing ability that Ced didn't have.

I think practices isn't an issue either way, but maybe the opportunity for Yert to play in the exhibition is because he is cleared, just 9 games suspended vs Kap who hasn't been ruled on? Just trying to see if there is a different maybe there because of an actual ruling for Yert and if no ruling my guess is he wouldn't have ended up playing either.

Exhibition has no weight on the season though, so if we had to forfeit both of those games, it would literally have no repercussions on our program.

Perhaps they just want to look like they're respecting the NCAA and doing everything "by the book" hoping for good news. Also could be a chance he has an unreported injury.

I think banjoman is right, not because Dorn shouldn't be starting, but because Gottfried will never not start Rowan.

Our starting lineup should be Smith, Henderson, Dorn, Abu + a big who can play some semblance of defense/box out the other damn team.

^Exactly. Gott has a fetish for a SF that can also bounce out to the 3 point line. So, Mav stays in this scenario. You would not take out Hendo for Kapita because he looks to be a deadly 3 point threat, and you would not trade rebounding for 3 pt shooting. So then you have Dorn, a guy whose biggest weakness is that he does everything well, but is not a shooting, passing, or rebounding specialist. I can live with Mav shooting 7 3s a game, but Dorn not so much.

In all honesty, until Dorn develops more in rebounding (by putting on some muscle) or shooting, he really does look like the ideal first man off of the bench.

I'd take Dorn as a CJ Williams type off the bench guy in a heartbeat. I think the key though will be to pull Mav quick in when you see he isn't on. I think that was kind of an issue with Wood was that he would get left out there too long when it just wasn't going for him that night.

Dorn tied Abu for the team lead last night in rebounding with 11 in 31 minutes. He led the team against Barton with 11 in 20 minutes. He was second (to Abu) on the team against Lynn with 8 in 20 minutes.

I would love for Dorn to show he can hit threes at a similar clip to what he did at Charlotte (34.2%), but I really don't think you can ask much more of him as a rebounder.
