I, for one, would thoroughly enjoy a Trump v Hillary debate. We are already stuck with shit options, might as well get some entertainment out of this dumpster fire.

Cruz has TX, Rubio may have FL, and Kasich maybe has OH - other than those, not seeing any roadblocks left for Trump. So, I too, will enjoy watching the dumpster fire of a campaign that will be Trump v. Hillary. I really cannot imagine what a debate between those two would look like.

I mean even the most anti-Clinton people who would never vote for her would have to admit her debating policy with Trump would be like Lebron playing one-on-one with a blind cripple.

In a traditional debate of course but Trump doesn't exactly follow the rules on this whole campaigning thing and hasn't had trouble in debates yet really. Plus I just want Trump to bring up Hildogs dirt, he would definitely go where other candidates wouldn't and it would be entertainment gold.

Watching coverage from Saturday night. I think between Trump and Cruz if it came down to the two of them, I'd support Trump.

if cruz drops out now, then his votes would go to rubio. only chance of trump not winning the nomination

rubio would have to promise cruz to the SC or VP to drop out though, but then again the attacks have been so personal it's hard to see them helping each other out or endorsing each other

I think Rubio needs to go to Kasich and say "if I win the nomination, you're my VP; we'll make it public now and you can campaign for me"

I guess Bush's supporters will now default to Rubio, but that 4-6 % probably won't get him much.

Based on the most recently available fundraising numbers, Rubio and Kasich are both running low - which doesn't bode well for competing in multiple states on Super Tuesday. MI votes on March 8, OH votes on March 15, so unless Kasich performs better than expected on Super Tuesday, I can't see him sticking around until March 15 just bc he won't have any money left.

[Edited on February 22, 2016 at 9:38 AM. Reason : MI & OH are the only two states Kasich is projected to do well in at the moment.]

An important point:
Quote :
"More money could be on the way for Rubio as the Republican field narrows. Within minutes of Bush leaving the race, for example, some of his donors told Reuters they were preparing to throw their financial support behind Rubio."

Yes. I'm referring to actual campaign finance figures, not speculative articles written since. Last quarter's numbers were released before Rubio's recent "win" in SC and Bush dropping out so I don't doubt he'll pick up some of Bush's donors. But I'm also talking about campaign dollars, not super PAC monies - so the money actually used to pay staffers, not just run ads.

You must not be talking about these numbers: http://www.politico.com/story/2016/01/marco-rubio-campaign-finance-218488

But then how would anyone know, because you haven't linked to shit.

I don't have a horse in this race, unlike you, but it's pretty clear you should have excluded Rubio from that hot take above.

And if you would have actually clicked the links you'd discover there isn't anything speculative about what's happening:

Quote :
"Bobbie Kilberg chose quickly. A top Republican fundraiser in Virginia, she got the news of Bush's withdrawal Saturday night over text messages at a dinner. By the next morning, she was giving interviews about her support for Florida Sen. Marco Rubio. She used the word "coalesce" twice when describing how the GOP's moderates need to rally behind a single candidate.

With Bush out of the way, the Florida picture may reverse, according to John Rood, a Jacksonville, Florida, real-estate executive who serves on the executive committee of Right to Rise. He's already backing Rubio after speaking with the candidate Saturday night, he said in an interview.

"This is very emotional for a lot of people who gave it their all for Jeb," Rood said. "But now it's time to go to Plan B."

Another top Florida fundraiser, Al Hoffman, said he's still "in mourning" over Bush but will probably end up backing the state's junior senator.

Even before Bush withdrew from the race, a few top donors were drifting away as he languished in the polls. They include Bruce Berkowitz, the Florida money manager who put $250,000 behind Rubio after an early bet on Bush; and Harlan Crow, the Texas real-estate developer who supported Right to Rise last year and whose family partnership sent $250,000 to Rubio's super-PAC in January.

Another super-PAC donor who didn't wait for Bush to drop out was Brian Ballard, a Florida lobbyist who switched to Rubio, saying that the party needs to rally behind a candidate who can beat Trump."

Every Democrat that gives a crap about this country should be voting for Rubio in the Republican primaries.

http://www.cnn.com/2016/02/21/politics/john-kasich-planned-parenthood-bill/index.html

Quote :
"Ohio Gov. John Kasich signed a bill Sunday prohibiting the state from contracting for health services with any organization that performs or promotes abortions, blocking government funds to Planned Parenthood.

Planned Parenthood isn't explicitly named in the legislation, but the law will prevent more than $1 million in funding from the state health department from going to the nonprofit to fund programs such as HIV testing, health screenings and prevention of violence against women."

So much for being the one reasonable moderate republican in the mix...

Apparently appealing to his moon bat crazy Christian base in more important that true conservative ideas/policies (ie it is a lot cheaper cost to society to pay for womans health services and birth control then to let people run around spreading the clap and having babies out of wedlock.)

I suppose those with the -R in their name, need people that are on the fence for using birth control (due to out-of-pocket) costs and are against abortion to have more unintended babies to perpetuate "the base". These kids will likely grow up in poor god fearing blue-collar homes with similar beliefs to their knocked up moms.

Back in January "Trump was growing on you," now you want Dems to cross-over and vote for someone who's positions are basically the same, just with less bloviating. What changed?

Calling trump's style "bloviating" is underselling it, he's worse than a bloviator.

Cruz policies are bad or worse, but the presidency is responsible for more than just policy writing (this isn't even a delegated duty...), and Trump is far worse in this aspect.

The difference is that congress will be able to out maneuver politically anything Trump is trying to do. Plus as a businessmen i'd like to think he has some negotiation skills and wiggle room.

Cruz though knows all the inner workings over congress and as a harvard law grad would be dangerous in finding ways to pursue his agenda. Plus from numerous anecdotes he seems to not only be a dick but consistently portrays "my way or the highway".

Mr. Terd, that was the point of that thread. Trump is growing on me. But I'm still a sane individual. I'm not gonna vote for him. He can grow on me and still not get my vote.

^^ Trumps business acumen is overblown, trump talks himself up but he's not spectacular. I think the Chinese or merkel or the Iranians would eat him up.

His biggest asset is his celebrity brand, he's paris Hilton: http://www.nationalreview.com/article/422762/paris-hilton-2016-out-trumps-trump trump takes too big risks and uses bankruptcy law to hedge-- he can't use this tactic as president.

And I am not certain congress can out maneuver him, he will play dirty and make things personal to essentially black mail politicians to doing what he wants, assuming he can bring enough Americans to his side, which he has a proven ability to do.

^^ mostly agree.

^ i can't think of anything where he isn't on the wrong side of the issue. Admittedly, his policies are neither fleshed out nor steady and predictable based on past record, and I don't pay super close attention to him...but he's pretty disastrous across the board.
