because that makes a lot of sense
5/6/2011 9:35:57 PM
you're right, i should just forget about the fact that smith habitually punches teammates in the face unprovoked.
5/6/2011 9:38:57 PM
Rivers would, on the other hand, have the leadership and asshole qualities necessary to regulate when Smith starts being a drama queen
5/6/2011 10:51:45 PM
Smith hasn't ever punched a white guy or a QB
5/6/2011 11:04:14 PM
imho, most exiciting play in Panthers historyps: fuck Anthony Bright and fuck Ken LucasSmitty > 99% of Carolina Panthers all timewho was better, Peppers? Smitty never took plays off. Greene or White? Had their best years with other teams. Sam Mills or Mark Fields? Great character guys, didn't do AS MUCH on the field...and I'm prepared to defend my argument to Mills supporters, (Sam Mills RIP)...89 is and was the best Panther ever...(so far, in this young franchise)[Edited on May 6, 2011 at 11:33 PM. Reason : .]

5/6/2011 11:47:28 PM
How many routes has 89 halfassed, aside from when Clausen was the QB last year?Regardless, I think Smith gives it his all a lot more than Pep did
5/6/2011 11:54:50 PM
Smith is a much bigger Diva than Peppers ever was. For a young QB, I think the only worse WRs in the game to have would be TO or Ocho Cinco. I'd love to get rid of Smith and give Newton a chance with some young WRs who don't try to demand the ball and chew out their young QB on the sideline after every drive.
5/7/2011 12:30:00 AM
He only demands the ball when they have been losing. Who blames him I like having someone that wants to win and isnt just there for the money.
5/7/2011 9:21:47 AM
brandon marshall is more of a diva than Smithi agree with Twista, 89 was and is the best Panther ever. He can be a bit of a diva, but I think its more because he's passionate about winning and not so much because hes unhappy with his personal stats
5/7/2011 10:24:45 AM
fuck anyone who hates on Smitty
5/7/2011 11:13:44 AM
smith was great, but it's time to move on. for all parties ]
5/7/2011 3:01:03 PM
i will agree that Smith is the best Panther of all timei would rather see him be successful somewhere else than waste away with the Panthers like he did last season. he's paid his dues and earned the right to leave if he so chooses.
5/7/2011 3:04:31 PM
Smith was right every time he was being a diva. We needed to get him the ball more
5/7/2011 3:44:20 PM
If Smith isn't a Panther this season, it would be nice to see him catching passes from Philly Cheesehttp://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/rumors/post/Panthers-WR-Smith-headed-to-Chargers-;_ylt=AqLdAXiuuYyGtISV7hF4e2FDubYF?urn=nfl-351978
5/9/2011 4:32:45 PM
smith is a diva wtf? you can't compare a guy who gets pissed off because hes overcompetitive to some guy like randy moss who's only half involved with the game, I mean the guy plays flag football in the off season, I really doubt he wants to just half ass it when hes in the nfl
5/9/2011 6:20:17 PM
5/13/2011 9:06:26 AM
Old Jerry Richardson? No way he'd allow it. New Jerry Richardson? Who knows. From signing Shockey to drafting Newton, we seem to have ditched whatever conservative approach we used to have. I think he wants anything that will put the Panthers in the spotlight and potentially sell tickets. Also, updating^
5/13/2011 9:14:20 AM
No sure how I feel about this. On the downside, Favre turned into probably the biggest Diva in the league and I'm afraid that might rub off on Cam. On the plus side, maybe Favre can use his Wrangler connections to get Newton a similar deal with South Pole or Phat Farm
5/13/2011 9:16:24 AM
Favre Us, By Us
5/13/2011 9:22:17 AM
i don't think cam newton needs any help taking dick pics.
5/13/2011 9:52:31 AM
all im sayin is Aaron Rodgers turned out alright after learning from Favre
5/13/2011 11:22:42 AM
I think you mean despite favre
5/13/2011 12:25:00 PM
so Favre taught Aaron Rodgers nothing?
5/13/2011 1:15:27 PM
not at all, it'd be impossible to not absorb things from watching him for 3 years, but it wasn't in favres contract to mentor rogers.
5/13/2011 1:35:54 PM
I thought it was widely known that Favre was kind of a dick to Rodgers
5/13/2011 2:48:04 PM
I learned as much about being an NFL QB from Favre as Rogers did[Edited on May 13, 2011 at 2:49 PM. Reason : sup Panthers thread, my Favre alarm went off]
5/13/2011 2:48:38 PM
5/13/2011 3:04:14 PM
ok, Rodgers didn't turn out alright at all, he really sucked the past couple years
5/13/2011 4:02:41 PM
sounds like someone needs a refresher on cause and effect
5/13/2011 4:30:33 PM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_PFZ92dMysobviously, Rodgers isn't good due to Favre, anyone that thinks I am saying that just doesn't pay attentionbut I also think the shit that Favre went through is a useful learning experience that Newton is obviously aware of, so I don't think them working together would be a bad thing]
5/13/2011 4:34:17 PM
I'm sure Favre did help the development of Aaron Rodgers. But probably indirectly. Righteous indignation and a desire to stick it to Favre couldn't hurt. However, unless Brett is going to sign and be the starter week 1, I doubt Cam would be very changed by any "mentoring".

http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/43026972/while this Favre discussion has been going on, Newton has been working out with Panthers legend Chris Weinke

you need better sources for spotting Panthers players if they don't recognize a former Panthers QB
5/16/2011 1:38:51 PM
not my source, but i agree.
5/17/2011 9:38:00 AM
I spotted Jerry Richardson at the Bojangles on Western today.
5/20/2011 1:19:50 PM
saw that too ... but it was newt gingrich
5/20/2011 1:25:53 PM
I would have berated him but he had a mean looking bodyguard.[Edited on May 20, 2011 at 1:59 PM. Reason : In all seriousness I did actually see him there today...he was meeting with the Tri-Arc owners]

I like everything I've heard about Cam post-draft. He's said all the right things, he hasn't nigged it up, and he's apparently working hard with the right people in order to be ready for the season.I'm rooting for him. If he can be a more athletic version of Josh Freeman, then the Panthers hit the jackpot. If he turns into Vince Young, then we're all screwed.
