C'mon guys we need to close the season out with three straight wins. It's time to take basketball seriously. We can get to 7-9 which gets us moving in the right direction to the middle of the conference.
2/26/2011 11:43:29 AM
i'm really torn right now. i like the way the team is playing (even though they're losing), and tracy smith isn't nearly as crucial as i expected him to be on this team.but i also don't think lowe can really turn a corner. hmmm.]
2/26/2011 2:28:42 PM
The new coach is going to have a lot of success with Lowe's players
2/26/2011 4:06:38 PM
Not trying to start some shit, but if we do end up 7-9 and win a few games in the ACCT, I could see Yow letting Sid finish his contract.Lot of ifs
2/26/2011 4:18:47 PM
Didn't she try to fire gary williams?

2/26/2011 5:08:40 PM
Maybe, though there were obviously some extenuating circumstances (players who didn't want to be there most notably). Also, the situations are 100% different considering the two titles in five years. A bit more tolerance there.

I appreciate the underlying message of what you are trying to do here, but that's just a weak ass argument.Trying to draw parallels between UNC's and our program is about the worst idea ever. Know your audience.
2/26/2011 5:40:27 PM
^the logic in my parallel is solid, refute it if you can. Just saying "you shouldn't draw parallels because of the audience" is the very definition of a "weak ass argument".
2/26/2011 5:47:53 PM
the tl;dr essence of adder's previous post is true, and its:
2/26/2011 5:49:27 PM
^^ You go ahead and continue to compare our situation to UNC's last year. I'll be interested to see how many on this board buy that trifle. I'm guessing ^ one. That argument only works if you have had sustained success in the past and had "one bad year" that was a fluke. Our situation is no fluke, adder.[Edited on February 26, 2011 at 6:03 PM. Reason : .]

last year's failure of a UNC team was definitely partly due to coaching. Roy did a terrible job with what he had.
2/26/2011 6:39:02 PM
If you're still trying to find excuses as if our problem might not be coaching, I don't know what to tell you...
2/26/2011 6:39:37 PM
Sidney Lowe is 10x the coach Roy Williams is!

^ Hhahahahahaha....you're a fucking idiot. Hahahahahahaha. Love the optimism, man. Time to throw in the towel on the Sidney Lowe era. He can stay another year if we win the ACC tournament. BIG PICTURE ---------> No NCAA tournament appearances in 5 years. Goodbye.

I think Zeller being injured last year for UNC was HUGE. Henson was more raw than Leslie was a freshmen. That UNC team has a decent shot at making the tourney with Zeller playing the whole year. That's pretty much us without Tracy for the whole year.
2/27/2011 10:36:46 AM
there's really no reason to try to shoehorn this team into a comparison w/ last years unc team.
2/27/2011 10:59:44 AM
2/27/2011 4:41:08 PM
2/27/2011 5:00:58 PM
i mean, are you going to do this for every single one of lowe's teams? b/c none of them have been good.
2/27/2011 5:42:55 PM
That would be pretty much irrelevant to the entire premise of the discussion considering the discussion was spawned from this statement.
2/27/2011 5:55:56 PM
a compilation of adder's posts on Sidney Lowe threads would make up the worst thread of all time and include a whole lot of
2/27/2011 6:34:47 PM
the other important thing is that most people would tolerate one bad year, or even a couple, but the fact is that unfortunately lowe has not produced anything yet. every coach will get the benefit of the doubt for one or two bad years, but only if they have shown success before those years. i mean, it's true, we can always give sid one more year to see if he can develop this talent, but he hasn't really shown the ability to pull it together so far.i like him, but there is a difference between roy and sid.
2/27/2011 6:39:22 PM
^^I shudder at the thought of such a thread.
2/27/2011 6:43:51 PM
I'm honestly not even sure what kind of post would satisfy him with the current discussion. Is anyone even trying to make a referendum on Lowe based on one season? Has anyone done that the entire five years even once?Does he want to simply hear, "maybe coaching isn't the reason we have been a disappointment in this season, year five under Sidney Lowe?"
2/27/2011 6:44:24 PM
not to harp on the "didn't she want to fire Gary Williams" thing, but what if we win the ACC tourney and she fires him
2/27/2011 6:47:57 PM
I wouldn't care.
2/27/2011 6:49:49 PM
Nor would I. Getting hot for a few games in a row is honestly no more/less of an accomplishment than Herb's "NCAA streak."I also wouldn't mind if he stayed around after that, either.[Edited on February 27, 2011 at 6:51 PM. 2/27/2011 11:52:52 PM
0 tourney appearances in his first 5 yearsalthough people will tell you they are totally different circumstances!! Sid doesn't deserve the same amount of time as Herb because Herb > Les! And he went to Carnegie Mellon not some internet school!honestly though, Sid did inherit a better team than Herb, I'm not gonna liehowever, the people who like to remind us of that fact also act like expectations were the same...when we hired Herb, we had zero expectations...when we hired Lowe, we had expectations of being able to hire Calipari and Barnes...not the same circumstances is right]
