to each their own but i absolutely love it.

but i'm a huge nerd for the wild west so this is like the ultimate fantasy come to life for me. I spent 3 hours yesterday in the mountains hunting a grizzly, escaping from wolves, hiding out from a blizzard, and hunting treasure. Never got bored once.

^^i dont get those feelings at all playing the game. Then again...i can see how someone who enjoys the spider man type games prolly wouldnt like this game. I fucking love it and where as most prequel/sequel type games dont live up to the hype of their predecessor, this one definitely does

i will say that moving from spider-man to RDR2 has taken a pretty big adjustment. you move SO FAST in spider-man, and so slowly in RDR.

having said that, really enjoying the game. like Jeepin said, i've gone back and forth between the campaign and just chilling in the mountains hunting elk. very excited for the online element

I'm glad I didn't play spiderman first. I came from playing through the first third of The Last of Us. So slower gameplay was already in my system. But the complete opposite controls did F with me at first.

I played Spider-Man recently but I still love RDR2. The first chapter was kind of a slog but after that even with the slow pace it feels great.

Also love Spider-Man a whole lot. I don't really prefer one style to the other as long as the pace is suited to the game, and both of them are.

The gang attack on the Braithwaite Plantation was pretty great.

Also stumbled into a klan meeting.

Same here except I haven’t adjusted to the pace of RDR2 yet. I’ve made the 2nd base move (not sure the chapter) and I find the game to be a chore to play. The graphics are amazing and it’s an extremely well done game, but the story so far hasn’t sucked me in.

I’m told it gets more exciting later on so I’m sticking with it, but it plays like a Telltale game to me right now.

Really doesn’t seem much different game play wise...

Barbie should rerelease on the RDR game engine

This game has one of the best stories in the history of gaming.

And Arthur is probably the best protagonist in gaming history, especially if you play him high honor (perhaps even better if you go from low honor early to high honor late).

I had this as a next-up after I finished AC:Odyessy...but damn I'm so burnt out on open world games right now.

bought a PS4 for black friday and have been playing this game but as much as I loved the first and bought the system just for this game, I've found it really frustrating so far. feels like controls built on top of controls. I also hate that I just bump somebody in town, he starts fighting me, and it's disturbing the peace and now I've lost all my money.

Most of the time if you are disturbing the peace and just stand still the lawmen will tell you to move along.

Yep, wait for the cops to show up and push defuse, won’t get a bounty as long as you leave the area after that.

I’m partway through chapter 4 and I feel like this might be the most boring game I’ve ever suffered through.

Normally I would have ditched the game by now but I keep hearing how it has an amazing story...

I finished the game and overall left with a good impression. The epilogue was really good I thought.

Still wish they compressed the first few chapters somehow though, but I never played the first RDR so I think i missed a lot of the "references" that would have hooked me in.

This soundtrack is the greatest I've ever heard in a video game.

On the one hand I wish they put the sountrack on apple music.

On the other hand, I can't really afford to be bawling my eyes out at work every time I hear That's the Way it Is or Fire in your Eyes

I'm back to slowing down the car when I see roadkill and wondering if the pelt is worth collecting.

This article is pretty masterfully done. https://mashable.com/article/red-dead-redemption-2-excess-waste-problem/#9N726l7u.aqJ

"Maybe that's the big, post-meta-modernist joke for Rockstar's creative leaders: To tell a story lamenting everything the cavernous black hole of American capitalism destroys, from within a game that in every way indulges our same insatiable greed for more — whether or not we want, need, or even benefit from it. "

I totally felt that way as I hunted animals for skins I didn't need or put gold shit on my guns. #1 stunna

Still, the epilogue was really well done. I wish the whole game had that direction. I loved the cabin building scene, fishing with Jack, and the amazing music in the last mission and credits. WHY didn't they use some of that music in the game more???

On the other hand, Chapter 3 was absolutely pointless and sloppy. If they had condensed this massive world into a shorter journey, I think it would resonate with people more. So, after getting used to the beautiful area around Valentine, you head straight to Saint Denis. Things fall apart and there are only a few missions where you have to kill 100 people. You have to kill 100 people 100 times.

I wanted there to be an option to blow my brains out every time I heard Dutch say, "I just need more money, I have a plan".

Quote :
"We're subjected to (I repeat) a minimum 60 hours of a shitty dude getting shittier, leaving me to wonder whether the people around him are just that stupid, or just that poorly written. Arthur is left with nothing to do but say 1,001 variations of "I dunno, man, I feel like we already tried that one."

Before doing the same shit again anyway."

Ah well, I still got that sweet sweet Cougar cutaway coat. Think I might get the snakeskin hat. Those bastards are hard to kill.

Ending credits finishing up now. Hands down my favorite game story line. Was a huge skyrim and fallout fan but i really liked this storyline and game. Was slow at points but rewarding. Not sure if i will get same play after storyline as I did from skyrim but it definitely has hit my #1 in many categories. Storyline, music, mix of story and cinemetography. The game allowed us to play without too many cutscenes but to control them for the most part. The menu on horse sucked. Trying to drink a potion or switch a gun taking three tries was tiresome. The interactions were good when you got em right but walking by a guy who starts a fight and ending up with you having a bounty because you finished it was annoying.

Tldr: get this game. Worth it. Many more positives than negatives.

[Edited on March 3, 2019 at 12:15 PM. Reason : Fwiw: i did not play any other rdr games so i cant compare against them.]

I fired it up last night and was surprised to see some new wanted posters up. Looks like there was a tiny update with some DLC back in January.
