Got my .95kg fork springs in yesterday. Where's a good place to get 15/20w fork oil?

My rear wheel lost traction for the first time today. It was quite the "oh shit" moment.
2/21/2010 7:38:25 PM
How did you manage that? I've have a few close calls coming around turns where there were some loose rocks that I didn't see. I didn't like that very much.
2/22/2010 2:21:51 PM
There was a spot on a turn where the ice had made a mess of an asphalt patch. The bike made about a 10 degree rotation towards the turn. If I had quicker reflexes I probably would've had the wrong reaction and wrecked it. Lucky for me I'm slow.

What do you guys do for tires here? I'm thinking of buying online to save some money, but I don't know anywhere that will install them on the rim for me.I found a vendor online that will sell me a set of Michelin Pilot Road 2's for $260, free shipping, and I'd like to pay someone around 20-30 bucks a tire to mount and balance them. Are there any shops around Raleigh that will do that if I bring them in from somewhere else?
2/24/2010 9:24:27 AM
FLAME TREAD

2/24/2010 1:13:00 PM
They did the last set that I bought there, but do you know if they'll mount tires purchased elsewhere?
2/24/2010 2:31:04 PM
they will but i think it's something like $10 more per tire
2/24/2010 2:35:41 PM
The 30 is if you bring in your own. They charge 20 for tires they sell.
2/24/2010 2:57:40 PM
Dad just bought an r1150rt

3/7/2010 1:32:03 PM
I think you should spend just a little more, save yourself a trip to Atlanta, and buy my SV650.
3/7/2010 8:11:26 PM
dude, i live in atlanta...but uh, how much for the sv650?
3/8/2010 5:56:27 PM
^^ You have a '99, right? I'm curious what they're going for in this region. Ballpark.
3/8/2010 8:08:22 PM
His is an '02 - last of the first gen's, before Suzuki really started skimping on stuff. Check the classifieds thread in here, he's got a pretty good price tag on it.
3/9/2010 11:19:22 PM
put some inline fuel filters in the line from the tank to the carbs today on my bike. lotta trash was in the lines much better now!!
3/10/2010 1:02:25 AM
Good call! Are you still rockin the Marshin front brake setup?
3/10/2010 1:28:47 AM
^^^ I was asking because I have a '99. Before they started skimping on the '00-'09 models.
3/10/2010 7:50:16 AM
^^^^^ Mine's listed at $2700, and I'm getting a bunch of interest. '02 model, 20k miles.
3/11/2010 10:34:55 PM
gonna be time to take the cover off of mine and fix the fairing damage and get it ready for nicer weather.
3/12/2010 2:07:07 PM
Fixin' should already be done. That why God created winter, right? Otherwise we'd all be riding our shit around all broken and neglected year round [Edited on March 12, 2010 at 2:22 PM. Reason : .]
3/12/2010 2:21:37 PM
unfortunately i live in blacksburg va. there are still a few scattered snow piles that have been here since mid december. it has been in the 50s here lately so it will be go time soon.my plan is to bring the bike to raleigh next month for a nice long weekend.
3/12/2010 3:08:48 PM
3/12/2010 6:44:34 PM
^5xthat's about the same price that i'm seeing around here for similar sv650s. good luck with the sale.i decided to pass on the nighthawk and save up few more pennies. sv650, dl650, or fz6 are at the top of my list. i'm going to have to wait for my tax refund before i can do anything but kick the tires one those bikes for now.
3/12/2010 9:38:38 PM
^^ thats good! lol Went on a ride into into Lolo hit my first trail ended up in Idaho and never touched a Paved road the whole way. Place is sick
3/12/2010 11:20:39 PM
3/22/2010 3:53:09 AM
^^^ cool, good to hear that my price is about right.DL650 is a very different bike than an SV or an FZ6. It's much more useful day to day, but not very performance oriented.
3/22/2010 9:17:13 AM
Tested my compression this weekend:120, 119, 90, 119fuuuuuuuuck....
3/22/2010 9:54:33 AM
Duke-- did you do anything to fill the holes left from the stock mirrors?
3/26/2010 10:47:21 AM
put a bolt in it
3/26/2010 12:31:42 PM
^^ nah. There are some things you could do, I guess, but it's more trouble than it's worth, in my opinion. Plus, this way, I could put the stalks back on in just a couple minutes if I wanted to._______________I just got back from a ride on Dad's R1150RT.
3/27/2010 1:54:18 PM
Gonna try my best to attend the Moto GP season opener on Sunday!
4/8/2010 2:17:56 PM
picking up a 2007 suzuki bandit 1250 w/ abs tomorrow morning
4/9/2010 6:26:21 PM
Won't be able to make it to the race tomorrow, but I did attend the practice sessions earlier this evening. Watched 125, Moto2, and MotoGP.
4/10/2010 6:05:55 PM
Turns out that my rear brakes have been metal-on-metal for an undetermined amount of time. I'm semi-proud that I didn't notice while riding.
4/13/2010 5:55:10 PM
Yikes. New rotor time?
4/13/2010 7:28:22 PM
going to check out an fz6 tomorrow. if i decide to buy it, getting it out of the truck when i get home might be a problem.
4/17/2010 8:39:30 PM
^back up to a hillive had the bandit 1250 for over a week now and this thing hauls! the previous owner installed a handle bars riser so it sits really neutral with no leaning over.
4/18/2010 7:25:17 PM
I remember reading an article in cycle world where the dude was talking about hoping on a bandit 1200 and rolled on in 2nd as he pulled out of a parking lot. He said the front wheel got light before he hit 3k RPM. Damn that sounds fun
4/19/2010 11:35:00 AM
^front tire lifted on me by accident in first gear with only about 1/3 throttle.
4/19/2010 12:49:43 PM

4/19/2010 2:31:13 PM
Legal or not legal: using the turn-off area of a highway to pass when traffic has stopped.I figure "not," but just curious.
4/19/2010 3:42:03 PM
^only in California (i think)
4/19/2010 6:52:48 PM
^All you really need is a 2x8 or 2x10 board and buddy or two that's not a klutz. You can do it.
4/21/2010 12:35:54 PM
anyone wanna buy my rc51? not the cleanest example, but it runs strong and I'll let it go $cheap. lookin for another inline 4
4/22/2010 9:02:21 AM
^Details?
4/24/2010 7:12:59 AM
After years of talk I finally did it. A pic of my new (to me) FZ6! Actually ts a 2005 with 3002 miles on it. The guy also gave me a jacket, gloves, tank bag, new battery, 4 quarts of oil and some other knick knacks. Unloading it from my truck by myself was super sketchy. (I really only know 2 people here, one was in Poland, the other was busy and couldn't help. ). ProTip: Don't put the ladder/stool so close to the back of the truck so that by the time the bars are over the end of the tailgate you have somewhere to go. Also, put it in gear so you can use the clutch to feather it down the ramp. I'm sure I looked like a monkey fucking a football to anyone watching, but whatever, I got it down with out dropping it.
