wasen't jehranie boyd supposed to announce this weekend at a pep ralley or something?
11/1/2008 3:31:33 PM
I think it's next week or mid-November at the latest
11/1/2008 3:37:29 PM
Boyd was originally going to announce at his game this Friday, but now he will be announcing at a pep rally on Thursday iirc.
11/1/2008 8:17:40 PM
^Any chance Boyd does not pick UNX?
11/2/2008 6:47:01 AM
^ Yes, Oklahoma and State are also major players for Boyd. Mizzou could be a factor as well.
11/2/2008 8:57:45 AM
i hope he picks us. he said he enjoyed his visit here
11/2/2008 2:35:29 PM
I wouldn't hold my breath for Boyd.but that's just the soul crushing lack of optimism speaking.
11/2/2008 2:40:39 PM
lol, i try to be optimistic myself. i'd hold my breath on him but i can't hold it that long

We've offered safety prospect Brandan Bishop out of Boca Raton, FL. Boca Raton HS has a pretty rich tradition. He's supposed to be a character kid with a 3.5 GPA. In one YouTube vid his head coach says he is the kind of kid that will be the first one in the weight room and the last to leave. Scout has yet to rate him, but Rivals has him as a 2* prospect. ESPN has him as the #119 safety nationally.SafetyBoca Raton (FL) Boca RatonHt: 6-foot-1Wt: 205 lbs40: 4.54 secsESPN Evaluation
11/3/2008 5:57:49 PM
he better be smart, the physical abilities sure aren't impressive.
11/3/2008 7:26:46 PM
^6'1 205 and a 4.54 40 is no longer impressive???
11/3/2008 7:32:36 PM
what's his shuttle time? reaction speed is more important for a safety unlike a corner who needs to have a fast 40.
11/3/2008 7:36:21 PM
I'd say 4.54 is plenty fast enough for a safety.
11/3/2008 8:12:27 PM
^^
11/3/2008 8:15:25 PM
you guys think we'll get any 4* or 5* recruits?
11/3/2008 9:03:26 PM
Well we'll find out if one of our 4* recruits, Jheranie Boyd, joins us or not this Thursday.
11/3/2008 9:06:20 PM
i think he will. i have a good feeling about it
11/3/2008 9:09:14 PM
i have a good feeling about boyd as wellmaybe we were able to sell him on being able to play with glennon and some good running backs; i hope so anyway, he would be a really nice addition to our building of a real football team
11/3/2008 9:15:12 PM
I said this on PP, but what would be great if we got Boyd is that we'd have 3 WRs that all bring something different to the table.
11/3/2008 9:17:07 PM
5^ We have a decent shot at Boyd, and in all likelihood Denzelle Good will be upgraded to a 4* at some point. Beyond those two, though, probably not.

We've offered OT prospect Duran Christophe out of Woodstock HS in Woodstock, GA. Body wise he kind of reminds me of Xavier Nixon in that he's more muscle than fat.Rivals - *** - #79 OT nationally - #67 prospect in GeorgiaScout - *** - #84 OT nationallyESPN - #95 OT nationallyESPN Evaluation

Who do you guys think will be our next commitment?
11/4/2008 11:23:49 AM
hans rice if he doesnt land at louisville or the SEC
11/4/2008 11:29:21 AM
list from BrassMonkey (well, it's from scout's prospect list, but he just posted it right there)Xavier Nixon - UF or LSU probably. We still have a small shot, but he seems to have the big name schools in his eyes.Marcus Hall - already out of it.Jheranie Boyd - Solid shot.Justin Brown - Not likely.Jamil Merrell - Not gonna happen.Hawatha Bell - UNC most likely.Travis Bond - UNC most likely. It's possible, though.Jonathan Meeks - UNC most likely. It's possible, though.Terry Shankle - UNC most likely. It's possible, though.all of the last 4 guys are "rumored silent verbals" to UNC already.Next verbal could be:Hans Rice (visit to Miss this weekend, decision after that)Boogie McCray (solid lead for us, it'll happen eventually)Jay Boyd (Thursday announcement)
11/4/2008 11:36:10 AM
How is UNC in so good with those guys. I just don't get what they are offering that's so much better than the other schools recruiting them. And if this turns into a damn "Public Ivy" discussion like that other thread my head is going to explode.
11/4/2008 12:02:38 PM
With Fulmer gone, do you think either Stokes or Mitchell-Thorton will give us a second look?
11/4/2008 1:17:21 PM
i think those guys are pretty solid to Tennessee. the thing about a school with the prestige as UT, guys commit to the school moreso than the Coach. smaller programs get guys because of coaching staff and girls... big schools get guys cause of prestige and girls.but maybe? i remember mitchell-thornton liked us a pretty good bit before settling on UT.[Edited on November 4, 2008 at 1:23 PM. 11/4/2008 1:22:20 PM
you forgot the money, cars and clothes
11/4/2008 1:24:10 PM
Brass,Most of the kids are NC products, and I'd guess that most of them grew up heel fans. I've always said that Carolina football, because of their basketball program, basically recruits itself.Of course, it doesn't hurt to have Butch Davis telling them exactly what they want to hear.
11/4/2008 3:21:30 PM
It also doesn't hurt when they see UNC and their record compared to NC State and our record. They want to play on the winning team, and we're not exactly winning right now.
11/4/2008 9:40:38 PM
didn't we clean up in-state last year and they are cleaning up this year?
11/4/2008 10:15:26 PM
i thought NC was a RED state
11/4/2008 11:01:09 PM
Boyd has supposedly informed the UNC staff that he'll be committing to the Heels on Thursday.
11/5/2008 12:02:49 AM
Not doubting you, but where are you hearing this?
11/5/2008 12:20:48 AM
WTF, they already have like 4 WRs committed in this class.
11/5/2008 1:14:45 AM
Bitch Davis is recruiting like Chuck - focus on high ranked skill players like WRs.
11/5/2008 10:16:50 AM
I'll believe Boyd to UNC when it happens, but if it does, fine. UNC will find soon enough that it doesn't matter how many awesome WRs you have when that offensive line is neglected in recruiting.
11/5/2008 10:25:15 AM
^ Amen to that. By my count UNC will have 12 O-linemen coming back next year (I think they lose at least 3) and they're only adding one so far in this recruiting class. I'm pretty sure last year was similar for them as they only took one offensive lineman in that class. This won't hurt them next year and probably not the year after, but in 3 years, they'll be facing the same problems that we're having now in that they won't have any quality depth on their offensive-line. Add to that that, unlike Obrien, Butch's specialty isn't offensive lineman, and I see them having some serious problems doing anything on offense in 3 years. The only case I can see where this wouldn't happen is if they pick up Nixon (because he'll be ready to start after a year in the program) and another O-linemen in this year's class, and add a couple more hot-shot O-linemen in next year's class. We learned from Chuck that having quality skill players doesn't amount to a whole lot without a good offensive line. Hopefully Butch won't learn from our mistakes.
11/5/2008 10:49:04 AM
yeah, I agree about the oline butTravis Bond is probably going to CH. And he's a stud.
11/5/2008 1:54:20 PM
boyd isn't going to unc
11/5/2008 3:18:41 PM
you have to provide some sort of reasoning with your claim
11/5/2008 3:57:59 PM
if he stays in state i bet he does, indeed, go to UNC
