id prefer favorshe suits our style a lot better in my opinion. Kelly just seems to raw, he's good dont get me wrong..but Favors is more polished and I think Sid could really work with the kid.he's got a lot of potential too tho, i mean he's just a dern high schooler.id rather have favors.
7/31/2008 1:35:32 PM
on the flip side, kelly is a 3 or 4 year player, probably, while favors is a guaranteed one and done.i still think you take favors, i think lowe's doing a good enough job recruiting for the future that you can take the better player and expect to get a replacement in a year or two.although realistically, either one would be great.interestingly though, they're still actively recruiting both, along w/ a few other guys. they seemingly expect to be able to take five this class, which is not one but two over our scholarship limit. where are those coming from? johnny thomas and...?

Scott Wood is really tearing it up in AAU national play. This is from Bob Gibbons:http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/recruiting/basketball/mens/news/story?id=3511224
7/31/2008 2:00:03 PM
^^most likely Brandon Costner.I would much prefer us to hit up Favors harder than Kelly. He would provide us the body downlow that we will need drastically and I see him fitting in better with the team style than Kelly does. We already have enough finese players we need more bangers.
7/31/2008 2:22:25 PM
I was just on a flight from Atlanta with Larry Harris. I wonder if he was looking at someone.
7/31/2008 2:35:53 PM
^ if that's a serious post, yeah he was in atlanta looking at favors, from what we hear.
7/31/2008 2:46:28 PM
Dwon Clifton to Baylor. Looks like the Wall recruitment is finally done for everyone.
7/31/2008 2:57:14 PM
This wall situation is out of control....although it would be funny to see all those people on PP eat some shit when wall doesn't follow clifton to Baylor. Highly unlikely though.[Edited on July 31, 2008 at 3:01 PM. Reason : ]

His resemblance to carnivorous dinosaurs is uncanny.

I haven't seen his face in over 3 years, I doubt I'd recognize him. I was never that close to the bench to really look anyways. Good for an LOL though[Edited on July 31, 2008 at 3:24 PM. Reason : s]

a little insight to Lowe's connection with the Georgia kids
7/31/2008 3:23:38 PM
Dequan Jones also went to Wheeler but committed to Miami....did he even visit???
7/31/2008 3:29:19 PM
i watched cj leslie play tonight in the nc pro am over at central. he had to be the youngest on the court by far. To say he stood out would be an understatement. this kid is the real deal and i cant wait for him to hit the court for the wolfpack.
7/31/2008 9:39:03 PM
I've heard praise for Leslie on his shot blocking ability which some attribute to his length, and I've seen it in a few highlight vids. Having seen him in person, did you notice anything along these lines? Did his length help him block or alter any shots? Some compare him physically to a Kevin Durant. He's not on Durant's talent level, but he is supposedly very agile even though he is quite tall. Based on what limited film I'd have to somewhat agree, but I've also never seen him in person. Is he every bit of the 6'8" that he's listed at?

More on Wood:
7/31/2008 9:47:00 PM
from the reviews we've heard this summer, he's certainly poised for it.hey, leslie went up to a 5star after he verbaled. it can happen!

http://www.brightcove.tv/title.jsp?title=1606794919&channel=1601189991This is an interview with some of the players on the SYF Players team. Scott Wood is interviewed. This was at the GBOA North Tournament, which SYF won and Scott was named MVP.
7/31/2008 10:54:29 PM
jesus if you can call that an interview.
7/31/2008 10:56:06 PM
Yeah that guy was a little annoying, but you kind of get an idea of what Scott Wood sounds like and what you'll be hearing when he's being interviewed. At least we know he can dunk.I posted this highlight vid of Wood sometime in this thread, but I'm gonna post it again for those that might not have seen it yet. I don't think he'll have any trouble with the 3pt line being moved back a foot. He seems to be able to hit it from pretty far behind the old line already.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmMHtw5Fvq0

Kelly cut his list to 6 schools tonight..... Duke, Georgetown, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, and Wake Forest.
8/3/2008 12:33:35 AM
I can't explain why but I'm happy to see Vandy doing this well in recruiting.
8/3/2008 12:40:01 AM
all this time i thought tarheel was another name for faggot
8/3/2008 1:16:19 AM
omg i'm shocked we missed that cut.
8/3/2008 9:10:50 AM
I think it just means we are pushing in other directions.I figured it would mean that since he didnt have a strong showing at the latest games he has been on it seems and our guys continue to rise.seems to tell me we are pushing for Favors.
8/3/2008 12:23:45 PM
John Walls HS coach called in to 850 the buzz to say Wall isn't 100% decided on Baylor. Check out the article at SFN, it has an audio link too:http://www.statefansnation.com/index.php/archives/2008/08/02/john-walldwon-clifton-to-baylor/

maybe, but not from what the coaches are hearing, I trust their pursuit and judgement.
8/3/2008 2:01:17 PM
You guys are simply wrong if you think we backed off Kelly to go harder after Favors. We wanted both VERY badly.
8/3/2008 2:03:20 PM
That's what I was thinking... he is too talented to simply "back off" on unless there were some other things about him we aren't hearing. You can't rely on what a talent like Favors will do regardless of what he might say...As far as trusting the coaching staff... I'm thrilled with the get of guys like Leslie and Brown, but I don't have any real strong reason, as of yet, to trust them...I hope you're right though, JT3. Favors would be, obviously, the biggest prize of the recruiting year.[Edited on August 3, 2008 at 2:08 PM. Reason : x]

http://www.newsobserver.com/sports/college/ncsu/story/1165373.htmlPack is tapping Georgia talentLowe is developing a pipeline into fertile basketball recruiting areaWhen Sidney Lowe became N.C. State's basketball coach just more than two years ago, fans had visions of tapping the fertile Washington, D.C., recruiting market for players.Lowe and staff members Pete Strickland and Quentin Jackson all are graduates of coach Morgan Wootten's prestigious DeMatha High program in D.C. It seemed natural that Lowe would recruit successfully there.Instead, the Atlanta area has become the focal point of N.C. State's out-of-state recruiting with the help of other Lowe connections. J.J. Hickson, N.C. State's leading scorer and rebounder last season as a freshman before leaving as the NBA's 19th overall draft pick for the Cleveland Cavaliers, played at Wheeler High in Marietta, Ga.So does Richard Howell, a 6-foot-8 rising senior forward who committed to N.C. State last week. One of Wheeler's greatest basketball alumni, Shareef Abdur-Rahim, played for Lowe with the Vancouver Grizzlies in the NBA."Obviously they've laid a lot of groundwork there from the start of things with J.J. Hickson," said scout.com national recruiting analyst Dave Telep."There's a tie there I think from Coach Lowe with Shareef Abdur-Rahim, who lives there and knows a lot of those guys, and now J.J. It's become a nice little pipeline because that's a state that's been loaded with talent."Before Lowe, N.C. State hadn't had much recent success in Georgia. From 1997-98 to 2006-07, the only player on any N.C. State roster who came from a Georgia hometown was Josh Powell of Riverdale.Hickson, a McDonald's All- American, gave Lowe and N.C. State an immediate, high-profile presence in Georgia. Howell said he didn't talk to Hickson before choosing the Wolfpack, but he noticed Hickson's success."It had a little bit of an impact," Howell said. "I saw their games on TV. I saw the games he played."Lorenzo Brown of Roswell, Ga., a teammate of Howell's on the Worldwide Renegades AAU team, also committed to N.C. State last week. Brown is a 6-5 guard rated 29th nationally in the rising senior class by scout.com.One of Brown's best friends, rising junior point guard Ryan Harrow of Marietta's Walton High, committed to N.C. State last month. That gives Lowe four Georgia commitments in four recruiting classes.Harrow's high school coach, Joe Goydish, said Lowe is getting into a good area because the talent in Georgia is outstanding. Goydish said AAU coaches in Georgia are focusing more on fundamentals than in the past, so players are getting better year-round training.Goydish said the emergence of teams such as the Worldwide Renegades have given Georgia players more quality AAU options in a state where the Atlanta Celtics and Georgia Stars already had strong, established programs.Eight of scout.com's top 100 rising senior prospects are from Georgia. So even though Lowe hasn't gained a commitment yet from a player in the D.C. area, building relationships in Georgia could help him build a strong program."You go where you can get guys," Telep said. "You go where people want to help you. If help is coming from the Metro Atlanta area, that's where you go."

We sent a coach to Argentina to see Kelly...I guess he went down there to tell him we're not interested and that we're going in other directions.[Edited on August 5, 2008 at 7:50 AM. Reason : a][Edited on August 5, 2008 at 7:50 AM. Reason : b]

We get it people. Kelly LIKELY cooled on us, not vice versa. If academics are what he's basing his list on, then we can't really hold a candle to ND, Vandy, Gtown, Duke, Wake, and (gulp) UNC -- at least on a prestige level. Not saying NC State is a slouch, just we're not on that level.
8/5/2008 9:19:11 AM
^ don't you dare fucking say that you god damn benedict arnold.
8/5/2008 9:24:20 AM
I take it back. NC State is the finest learning institution that ever was and ever will be.

he's really gotten some great great press this summer.i hope he's not the next... you know who.
8/5/2008 9:52:37 AM
If academics where the reason, why is Kelly now down to Notre Dame, UNC, and Georgetown? Why not Vanderbilt or Stanford?Oh, that's because he isn't all about academics.
