ill give a review later but last night was definitely the better of the last 2 nights by far, the band was more into it, the setlist was great (he really stuck to like 3 acoustic songs), they came out rockin and never really stopped...they did all the teases because the guys at the soundboard were having issues. we were leaning against the rail there and they were flipping a shit trying to figure out.i did manage to get the setlist from the soundboard guy. i will post it later...the one that they were SUPPOSED to play, they skipped atleast 3 songs because of the tech problems (thirty-three, doomsday clock, and muzzle to name a few).the drum circle from the town square replaced deerhunter last night apparently because billy had an issue with them or something, not really any details except what we were told...they showed up at 4pm to set up again, etc or whatever and billy was like go home. overall, it was really good last night[Edited on July 1, 2007 at 10:29 AM. awesome show!! the drum circle was ok, i liked the story behind it more than themusic itself, that was really cool for them and the rowd was into it.
7/1/2007 11:32:03 AM
What was the story behind it, if you don't mind sharing? Did it have anything to do with the giant drum circle that Asheville has downtown every Friday afternoon or something unrelated?
7/1/2007 12:26:59 PM
here's a few pics i took from last night...bullet with butterfly wings!

Zeitgeist is a funny album.Am I the only one who finds "Pomp and Circumstances" extremely out of place?
7/1/2007 2:27:35 PM
ok i get the meaning of the drum circle thing nowand yeah pomp and circumstances is kinda out of place loloverall though i really like the album. obviously i haven't heard any of the bonus tracks yet, but just from the standard album i think i'd rank it at #3 for them behind mellon collie and siamese dream. i like it a lot.also i really like the song he wrote in asheville, "it's a song i sing" i think is the name.

just got back from one of the greatest weekends of my lifeim still on a high from the awesomeness that was this weekend so i'll keep it short and sweet for nowfriday night: really good (the acoustic songs were fine with me, i just dont like when he chose to play them)saturday night: fucking amazing. even with the technical difficulties it was one of the best shows i've ever been toso many awesome side stories to tell about the weekend/showsi'll save those for later[Edited on July 1, 2007 at 6:35 PM. 7/1/2007 6:37:04 PM
man, i did a quick listen, i like the live versions of these songs better...it feels overproduced when comparing them to the live recordings
7/1/2007 7:06:49 PM
Okay, I like Zeitgeist so far, butGinger & Lisa > Chorus of Billys
7/1/2007 7:12:59 PM
oh yeah, christian laettner was there both friday and saturday night

^ oh snap
7/1/2007 8:37:34 PM
the crowd around me, including myself, was getting really bored, almost antagonistic, with the drum circle about 20 minutes in. i'm still pissed that billy kicked deerhunter out or whatever.
7/1/2007 8:50:55 PM
oh yeah, i also didnt know john cusack was such a good guitarist(im going to keep posting these little tidbits until i calm down from this weekends festivities.)
7/1/2007 8:53:18 PM
^^I'd pay good money to see a Corgan/Cox fight, though. I wonder how they managed to piss him off, unless it was just the number of people in the crowd on Friday who didn't like Deerhunter (the comments of the girl behind me ranged from "omg, he's so creepy!" to "well they have no musical talent whatsoever!").
7/1/2007 8:55:21 PM
at the very least--when every song sounds the same, billy shouldn't have let the drum circle play for an entire hour.
7/1/2007 8:56:54 PM
I don't really like Deerhunter anyway, so I didn't care about not seeing them. And the idea of actually having the drum circle open after Billy talked about it on Wednesday was funny. That said, I agree that they didn't need to play for an hour.
7/1/2007 9:10:31 PM
welp...the sound quality is pretty much shit in all my videos, except the teasers--yay!! but there's a lot of embarrassing "wooo's" and "yeaaaahs!!" so ahhh...
7/1/2007 9:16:55 PM

whoa can someone explain what happened with deerhunter and billy? i was there on friday but not saturday. i thought deerhunter fucking sucked.
7/2/2007 12:13:37 AM
^ nobody "knows" what happened between them, just that Billy told them not to play on Saturdayand this is my point from earlier, he might've just done it because most of you other people on Friday didn't like Deerhunter

No, I don't hate them ("Spring Hall Convert" is a great song)nor does spookyand I don't think vb hated them after all the noise died downI think they make more sense on their albums. In any case, I can't see a large percentage of the Pumpkins fanbase digging them, so whatever.[Edited on July 2, 2007 at 2:24 AM. ^ The only thing I could think of is that perhaps Billy didn't like his facetious arm-wavery when he said, "and next, the Smashing Pumpkins!"Part of me feels it's utterly ridiculous to suggest that Billy could be so petty, but the other part wouldn't put it past him.
7/2/2007 3:07:24 AM
i totally hear what you're screamin'some people that we met friday night were also there saturday afternoon and they said they witnessed deerhunter getting kicked out by billywho knows what really happened though

so i listened to the entire cd this morning, and what comes to my mind after just seeing most of these songs is i miss the keyboard (atleast its really quiet in the background on the recordings), i think it should be louder.also, all these billy voices should go with their effects and echoes...put the girls backups in the recordings like the live versions.i was also kinda hoping for a version of united states without all the making noise guitar stuff in the middle just to see what thatd sound like.but yeah, all these weird things on US and starz with billy going whoo and wee and stuff is unnecessary
7/2/2007 9:54:30 AM
i listened to this album on my ipod and on CD in my car and in both places i didnt feel the mix was guitar heavy enough. I could always hear the guitar, but it never felt like the driving force, always kind of sounded a bit like it was in the background of the mix (ie cymbols drowned it out in some cases and other cases, other instruments).this isnt always a problem for albums (ie some songs and albums arent designed to be guitar heavy from bands), but just listening to the riffs, a lot of them would sound so much better being brought forward to drive the song
