he better choose the REAL wolfpack

heard from players Wilson is the stud of our qb group.
1/10/2008 1:58:47 AM
Wilson was drafted out of high school by the Orioles....the fact that he is listed behind Evans, Beck, and Burke makes me think he plays 3 years baseball and is gone. That would only give him 2 years to play football and Glennon is going to be the starter for sure in 2009. I just don't see TOB starting Wilson. I do like the idea of a faster guy playing QB behind what we call a line.
1/10/2008 2:14:27 AM
^^ what players?i havent heard it... they say he runs well, but who cares...we need a passer so teams dont stack the box. theres a difference in mike vick and peyton manning.until TOB comes out and says it, i wont believe it a bit.

"It went real good," he said. "I got to sit down with the coaches. It's a real good coaching staff. I think they are going to take the team to the next level. I feel I can fit into their system. They lost four linebackers and I think I can play early." Lucas did not commit and will visit North Carolina this weekend and Michigan State January 25th. USC remains in the picture and he talked with recruiter Shane Beamer last Friday. "He's going to be in this week with the new defensive coordinator," Lucas said. A Wake Forest recruiter will be in Monday. North Carolina coach Butch Davis is due in Wednesday along with Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio. NC State coach Tom O'Brien is scheduled for an in home Thursday. Lucas said he's also interested in Maryland.http://northcarolinastate.scout.com/a.z?s=178&p=8&c=1&nid=3508093http://ncstate.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=75278&sport=1

ahahahaha, WR Dwight Jones fails to qualify for UNC again.http://www.fayobserver.com/article?id=283090
1/15/2008 5:37:26 PM
In that article it also mentions we are entertaining two players this weekend.
1/15/2008 6:36:53 PM
^^ That's funny. Before I even read the article and its blurb about rumors that Jones will end up at ECU, I was thinking, I bet he ends up at ECU now. I hope he does and I hope he owns UNC every time he plays them because that would be some funny shit.
1/15/2008 9:44:48 PM
rumor was that Sam Jones was going to visit ECU this weekend but it doesnt look like that will happen now. This is one we might sweat over if he qualifies or not. W/o him our O-line class gets considerably weaker.
1/17/2008 12:45:28 PM
^ Well, if we're worried about his academics, it would make sense that he was planning on visiting ECU. What makes you think he won't qualify?
1/17/2008 12:49:46 PM
according to packpride sam jones is qualifying and will stick to his commitment
1/17/2008 12:53:04 PM
lol. article is a trip. jones' basically says ECU is worst case scenario and that they are definitely a fall back plan.
1/17/2008 1:01:30 PM
i dk i've just seen it to many times where they say they are qualified and they end up not being. Happens almost everytime actually
1/18/2008 12:28:13 AM
sam jones is at hargrave. not qualifying is certainly a possibility.
1/18/2008 1:14:15 AM
Welcome aboard RJ Mattes!!!4* #11 OT in the nation according to Scout. Offers from pretty much every team in the south.
1/20/2008 4:08:27 PM
Well damnI was pretty much certain he was going to Clemson.Excellent choice!
1/20/2008 4:11:04 PM
^he said the rumors about him and clemson were all "Internet talk". He loves TOB. He texted Mike Glennon about his decision and Mike texted him back tellin him that his mom says she loves RJ, lol
1/20/2008 4:15:15 PM
The kids in this O-line class are going to be NASTY in a couple of years
1/20/2008 4:18:20 PM
Wow, TOB has done an excellent job of recruiting to our needs (especially at QB, LB and OL) and bringing in quality guys that could help very early. This is far exceeding any expectations I had for him in his first class.
1/20/2008 4:38:36 PM
TOB is the shit. Our football future is lookin' up. Imagine how crazy our fans/The Carter will get if we ever start winning 9+ games...
1/20/2008 6:12:36 PM
WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Red Tom is running this shit. Bitch Davis might as well quit now. I don't think we'll be seeing as many of the top players leaving the state anymore.
1/20/2008 7:04:44 PM
HAHAHAHA
1/20/2008 7:11:44 PM
that makes 5 4 star players in next year's class already
1/20/2008 7:47:31 PM
^yeah....gimme leon mackey and i'll call it a year
1/20/2008 7:51:43 PM
Which players do you think will have the most immediate impact? I think Juco DT LeRoy Burgess may see playing time fairly quickly. Maybe not next year, b/c he might redshirt to gain experience, but he's got the size. He's 6'1" 300 lbs. He's got huge arms. Of course Brandon Barnes will probably see at least some time returning kicks in the next year or so. I also think Kyle Linney and Sam Jones could get on the field after a year or so. They have good size right now. It all just depends on their conditioning and how quickly they can pick up what the coaches want them to do.
1/20/2008 7:53:06 PM
Dwayne Maddox will probably get some PT....especially since he's already enrolled and will be goin through Spring practice. Any of the guys that are already on campus have a head above the rest obviously. Linney, Dom Ellis(already has the body), etc. Of the ones coming in over the summer......of course glennon has a shot. I think Mattes, Jones and Wallace will redshirt. They all need a little more meat on em. Jones being listed at 300 is being generous. Closer to 280 prolly. Wallace and Mattes are both around 270, so they need some bulking, strength. Woulda said Colby Jackson at FB and Manning at LB......but with both goin out with ACL injuries, next year is redshirt for them as well.

1/20/2008 8:26:54 PM
HOLY SHIT HOW THE FUCK DID TOB LAND MATTES? WOWOWOWOWOW]
1/20/2008 8:32:24 PM
Good vibes about JUCO DE Shea McKeen. 4 Star out of HS originally commited to USC (the real) in 2005. He was in this weekend for a visit.
1/20/2008 8:42:14 PM
IF I WERE AN AWESOME FOOTBALL STAR ID WANT TO PLAY FOR BUTCH DAVIS MAN THAT GUY CAN COACH PLUS HE KNOWS NFL
1/20/2008 8:43:24 PM
Fuck, yes
1/20/2008 8:58:26 PM
I think several freshman LBs will see PT.
1/20/2008 11:29:53 PM
1/21/2008 9:35:05 PM
^SNAPand the recruits just keep rolling in
1/21/2008 9:38:41 PM
this kid was in the DE rotation at South Carolina as a Freshman before injuring his back. Losing Martrel and littleton, we need an instant impact DE to come in. He'll be in the rotation with Willie, Kuhn, audi, etc.
1/21/2008 9:46:15 PM
without getting too academic, i just want to say: we are on our way to being a football school.basketball is great and all, but as red as our blood is, and the way our fans are, our rightful place is to be the premier football school in the state. the blue schools down the street can have their five guys run up and down the court, but as far as i'm concerned, we need to be dominnant in football.
1/21/2008 9:54:39 PM
^^ I thought it was b/c he got into a bar fight and was arrested, unless this is another Shea McKeen.
1/21/2008 9:57:47 PM
clearly i want both to succeed, but it'd take a lot of winning in football for me to be satisfied w/ being just a 'football school'.
1/21/2008 10:03:34 PM
^^well yeah, thats why he left SC, but he was in the rotation till he hurt his back. He also said that the coaches at USC wanted him back but he had to get away.
1/21/2008 10:09:53 PM
all this recruiting news makes me smile
1/22/2008 12:37:05 AM
So he is projected as a DE but out of high school he was a top 10 TE prospect. Any chance we try him at TE or is he being recruited exclusively as a DE?

If Tom OBrien can win 9/10 games with 2 and 3 star players... I think he will do just fine once he brings in a couple classes filled with 3 and 4 stars
1/22/2008 2:57:53 AM
1/22/2008 8:44:42 AM
^but he's Butch Mother Fucking Davis, coach of the best damn 4 loss team in the country . . . surely you jest that that alone isn't enough to get all the top recruits
