the movie was fine and you're all entirely too uptight about a comic movie :x like they said... probably not as good as 2 but i'll buy it on dvd when it comes outi was rather entertainedi liked the new people the brought in. beast and collosus are two of my more favorite xmen... although collosus was kind of an after thought. juggernaut was well cast I felt.I'd have liked to see gambit but i can forgive them that. maybe in 4the movie was like a comic book. not like a best picture. that's what i was expecting and that's what I got.
5/27/2006 1:27:15 AM
terrible movie, no plot, no action, no depth, really horrible, gg with the new director
5/27/2006 2:16:01 AM
x-men 3 was a lot like matrix revolutionsi didn't really have high expectations for this movie and i was still dissapointed. it was just kind of incoherent and dumb at times. jean grey's character was just annoying to me. how in the world is wolverine able to kill her but prof x can't even put up a fight against her?
5/27/2006 2:26:11 AM
^yea i know, plus their was no emotional connection between anybody, and like one fight scene

I can kinda sypathize with the whole "what did you expect" argument, I think part of the reason I liked the first X-men is that I conciously did not get my hopes up, However I wasn't expecting Oscar worthy stuff here, just a good X-men movie, which X2 showed is possible. Just because its a comic book/action movie doesn't mean it doesn't have to worry about a coherent plot, decent pacing, characterization, half-way decent acting, particuarly when they have 40+ years of stories to draw from, the majority of which are stupid crap but many of which are actually good, just by sheer volume there's gotta be some stuff you can work with. Especially as they were drawing from Whedon's first Astonishing run and Phoenix saga, there's plenty of good drama (read not melo) in those stories, so there's really no excuse. But yeah, why couldn't we just get Whedon for this one? There was definately a lot of fans that wanted him to when Singer and then when Vaughn left...I think the timescale didn't really work for him, and he's perhaps already gotten his fix with Astonishing. It's sad that it only took 3 movies, but if they rebooted and put Whedon in charge that would make me almost as happy as 5+ Serenity movies.

What they really need to do for the next one is have all the X-men except Wolverine get captured, and then he has to fight the entire team of baddies that easily overwhelmed all of the X-men to rescue them. And if he could spend some time sneaking through the sewer to boot that would be great.
5/27/2006 1:21:50 PM
nothey need to have 90 minutes of kitty prydekitty being kitty
5/27/2006 1:54:55 PM
5/27/2006 3:56:22 PM
yeah I would agree with that 100%but no fucking Serenity ok!
5/27/2006 5:21:22 PM
I just read that X3 made $44.1 million yesterday. #2 for all time 1 day openings behind Star Wars 3.http://www.boxofficemojo.com/alltime/days/?page=open&p=.htm
5/27/2006 9:24:23 PM
I can't call the movie a letdown since I wasn't expecting much.
5/27/2006 9:36:06 PM
you gota think it will make another 40+ today, a good 20-25 sunday, and a bonus 20-25 on monday (**unless word of mouth kills it**)could be 120 million, easygg ticket price inflation
5/27/2006 9:38:22 PM
so wait, do they have a director or what
5/27/2006 9:59:56 PM
obviously not if you've seen it
5/27/2006 10:00:22 PM
I saw it today. Storm didn't do anything, but in spite of this she had a lot more screen time than the last movie. Damn that attention whore Halle Berry.
5/27/2006 10:07:30 PM
hey i have an idea, let's not make colossus russian just bc we want to piss off fans, even though he plays no important role in the movie whatsoever already. is there anything else we can fuck with?
5/27/2006 10:10:31 PM
I think I heard Kitty saying a few Hail Marys
5/27/2006 10:13:49 PM
hahahahahahahahahahaender and nerdchick just won the fuck out of this thread
5/27/2006 10:28:59 PM
5/27/2006 10:32:23 PM
and for the folks who are complaining about the last fight scenesomeone was complaining about how the evil mutants didn't seem too powerfulremember that not every mutant has flashy claws or flames or mental abilitiessome of them can just do things like change channels with their eyes or transcribe notes with their fingersalso, the folks who make up the "X-men" spend good chunks of their lives training their powers; thats why they're x-men, for the most part the mutants lined up with magneto were untrained average people with a few little gifts - think about the meeting he walked up into, sure there were a few mutants with "kicking-ass-powers"
5/27/2006 11:02:49 PM
was anybody else bothered by the shower of hypodermic needles bitsome of those guys are bound to catch mutant AIDS or something
5/27/2006 11:15:32 PM
^^haha i like the guy who has the power to become obese.or is it the power to become skinny?we will never know
5/27/2006 11:22:23 PM
Haha when it showed that girl who could take notes with her fingers, I thought to myself "Jeez that would be a horrible mutant power. You are surrounded by people who can create ice and turn their body into metal and all you can do is write things." I guess her mutant name would be scribe or something like that.
5/27/2006 11:30:51 PM
rememberxavier makes a point of making mutants strongershe may have all kinds of untapped imagery gifts for all we know...
5/27/2006 11:50:25 PM
5/28/2006 6:54:59 AM
Seriously, they worked in part of Whedon's Astonishing plot with Dr. Rao but they couldn't even get a fucking russian to play Piotr. I know musclebound russians exist. I've seen Rocky IV.
5/28/2006 9:56:00 AM
or at least give the actor a dialog coachRussian accent isn't too hard to fake
5/28/2006 10:28:33 AM
listenjuggernaut being a mutant is far more egregious than "peter" being americanAT LEAST HE IS STILL SUPPOSED TO BE AN ARTIST OK
5/28/2006 11:05:16 AM
I know, but I'm sticking to the russian thing as the real thing that pissed me off. I mean, I could kinda sorta understand trying to avoid the inclusion of magical artifacts in the movie.
5/28/2006 11:11:53 AM
why?piotr being russian was important in the 60s, when we were at fucking (cold) war with them and the new x-men were being put together not only for their powers but also for cultural significance (blacks, russians, azns; oh my!)i really don't have that big a problem with piotr being peter
5/28/2006 11:17:23 AM
Just because, k? Also I thought the bobby/rogue/kitty love triangle was totally needless. Rogue already wanted to lose her powers. They could have just as easily done a kitty/piotr thing so that in movies down the road they could actually delve into that. And waiting until the last 10 minutes of the third movie to have bobby 'ice up'? Lame.
5/28/2006 11:56:04 AM
^go read the ultimate booksthe rogue/bobby/kitty triangle is ripped right from itwhen rogue sees bobby kissing kitty, she goes off on a tiff and winds up with gambit, wandering around as jewel thieveswhy is "piotr" not involved in the ultimate universe - well, because he's gay thereso i think "not-russian" is a little less of a reimagining of the character than "russian but gay"
5/28/2006 4:28:00 PM
would have been cooler to see what the evil mutants powers were (even if they werent great powers)i guess thats my favorite part of the movie is seeing everyone use their powers
5/28/2006 11:16:12 PM
ANGEL FLEW FROM NY TO SAN FRANCISCO THAT FAST WOW

i was pissed when professor X just wheeled past juggs without even a hello. He's your step brothhhaa!!
5/30/2006 12:42:19 AM
the hell he ishalf the relationship is ruined when you make cain a mutant as well
5/30/2006 1:16:37 AM
I saw the movie Monday night... I liked it, there were some things i didnt like, such as all the mutants that youd want to see in another movie died or lost their powers...but beast kicked ass, and the last two scenes with magneto moving the metal and X coming back somehow (can someone explain how he got in that body on the tv?)but the best suggestion ive read thus far,
5/30/2006 7:42:35 AM
The one thing which I've realized I am having a hard time looking beyond is Magneto's curious use of his powers close to the end of the movie. If he can, say, break and lift a multi-thousand ton bridge... why couldn't he just simply crush the research lab? Or even better yet, if he can lift the bridge, why not just drop the bridge on the lab? I don't seem to recall anything in the plot about the Brotherhood wanting to take Leech alive - they just simply wanted to destroy the cure.
5/30/2006 8:34:19 AM
I think they should have spent more time and cg money on the two times pheonix went ape shit, and less time the rest of the movie. I mean come on, who wants every scene to be good when you can have two completely badass scenes.
5/30/2006 9:29:00 AM
^^ well not entirely. near the end it changed from "just destroying the cure" to "we'll destroy it , after the humans, and if other mutants get in our way we have leech as plan b"
5/30/2006 9:36:38 AM
^^^That's because you're thinking in terms of a good/coherent plot...that's stupid.
5/30/2006 10:00:40 AM
Maybe if there’s a dvd extended edition it'll have some nice scenes or enhanced graphics?
5/30/2006 7:10:16 PM
x-men comic =/= x-men movie disappointing yes.[Edited on May 30, 2006 at 8:10 PM. Reason : yes]

Or maybe a GOOD version of the movie?
