One of my friends asked if UNC could win divisional champ (while not going to the acc champ game). This was in the recent ACC announcement:

Let me guess, a whole bunch of deflecting and denying
10/9/2012 11:16:28 PM
^^^ I'm loving the UNC fan comments on that link. Particularly the one who accuses NCSU, UNCG, and UNCW of being up to worse.I mean. I know they've got their Deflect-At-NCSU plan going, but UNCG and UNCW?
10/10/2012 6:24:42 AM
we all know how dirty UNCG can be. And don't even get me started on UNCW. Those mofos have been winning by cheating for a LONG time
10/10/2012 10:33:22 AM
Isn't a former unc player the basketball coach at uncg now? It would make sense they are cheating.
10/10/2012 10:37:26 AM
Most of those comments make my head hurt.
10/10/2012 10:42:57 AM
yeah. UNCG's got at least 2 NCAA championships in b-ball that they acquired through questionable means. And their football program is so dirty it's beyond repair

Help wanted: Head of UNC's boring non-sports operations"Our outgoing chancellor enjoyed our “surprise party” program in which random administrators would visit with engaging monologues like, “Remember the cute couple on that plane that we borrowed from the med school to go out fundraising? Turns out they’re an item, and a newspaper reporter is holding on line 3."At your present institution, do you have a class in Swahili? No problem. It turns out we didn’t either!"http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2012/10/09/3587751/desperate-for-work-then-run-unc.html[Edited on October 10, 2012 at 11:32 AM. Reason : "]

"What has been most troublesome to me about this entire scandal, if we're going to call it that, over the last two years, is that it has called into question our institutional decision-making and our priorities," said Jay Smith, an associate history professor and one of the most outspoken critics of the university's handling of the investigations.http://m.usatoday.com/article/sports/1625329?preferredArticleViewMode=singleAHAHAHAHAH!
10/10/2012 10:49:30 PM
I'm fine with calling it a scandal Also
10/11/2012 6:53:53 AM
i know, right? I'm sure the NCAA would really like to know about these players they dismissed but didn't report...

https://twitter.com/_andrewcarterTimeline has some quotes from Fmr. Gov. Martin to the press on the UNC "investigation". Way I read it makes this seem like a total softball investigation and a bit of a farce.[Edited on October 16, 2012 at 2:50 PM. Reason : Dan Kane story to come later today.]

This far into this whole investigation I don't see how people can say with a straight face that the AFAM thing was cheating to keep athletes eligible. These weren't "manageable classes", they were fake classes held primarily to churn out A's and B's for athletes.

10/16/2012 3:46:29 PM
Figures they appoint a granddad, who's totally inept at technology, the head of the investigation.[Edited on October 16, 2012 at 3:49 PM. Reason : ']

I know its not like they subpoena power or anything but there's got to be a better way than just throwing their hands up and going "They're not talking" . But ultimately Carolina cut these people loose for exactly this reason .

If you were an athlete and you got a B in a fake class, you'd likely think you worked really hard to earn it.
10/16/2012 4:12:29 PM
If you were an athlete and got a B in a fake class you'd be happy you could still play ball

actually, that column isn't all that bad. I don't blame him for not looking for easy classes that actually met. he's right, those kinds of classes are literally all over the place. But, some of the other statements made earlier in this thread are troubling

I think Kane is sitting on something. If he is intelligent and has any ammo at all, he will wait until his opposing player turns over all their cards and then strike to kill any credibility they might have. I am all for Kane just sitting on any info he has until the Martin and SBI investigations are complete. If both reports fail to touch on anything Kane has in his stockpile of ammunition, then it immediately calls for yet another investigation and casts prior investigations in the same light as the shams UNC has perpetrated for the past 2 years. There is no point in laying down your cards before your adversary when they are required to play first. Doing so would only allow them to take advantage of the information and deflect.I personally still see this as dragging on for another year, which only drags the UNC name through the mud for another year. We should be cheering for this and not demanding more information every week. Patience is a virtue.
10/16/2012 11:12:04 PM
But patience is HARD!!!!!!!!I wanna know all the dirt NOW!!!!!!!!

Bullet I am on that boat. Where did you find that photo? Masonboro is a crazy place. See Dexter on the right? Dude couldn't walk after that fiasco lol.
10/17/2012 12:07:46 AM
^^^While that would be epic if he did that, you don't become a journalist to not report things that you find. Kane isn't on some personal vendetta to bring down UNC no matter what posters on IC would have you believe, he's just assigned to the story. So if he actually found something big he would want to be the first to report it to take credit.

I like how that woman instructor left UNC and now is working at some podunk community college in Virginia. You would think a person teaching at UNC could land a better job than a community college after leaving the amazing institution of academic excellence that is UNC-Chapel Hill. I guess UNCG wasn't hiring.
