Funny that Doug ford was considered the trump of canada at one point and is now roasting him worse than any American politicians has done yet

i think it's funny that i know regular-ass people who laugh off this horse meat thing as some kind of silly internet rumor

and i'm like

how does horsemeat instead of beef seem at odds with ANYTHING these people have done in the past 10 years?

At least this is one rumor that could be easily proven with a sample test of said “beef.”

This whole lake renaming is so embarrassing. Does anyone not realize that the Canadians took their name from the indigenous tribe/lake?

Wasn’t there an issue with Venezuelan oil being really hard to refine and use? Did something change or is this deal another waste of time?

I heard its really sludgy etc but our refineries are actually built to process it whereas most of tye rest of the refineries around the world aren't

So our SPR, or SOR basins are not built for Venzuelan crude. It’s too heavy and too caustic. If he really does what he said he was going to do today (fill the reserves with Venezuelan oil) then he will ruin whatever it is we use to contain them.

Is that legal?

LOL! As if that matters anymore.

It won't affect my strong vote against, but in the unlikely event that it comes to pass, I guess I will cash it. Need it to pay for everything that got more expensive due to the conscious (?) choices of this administration.

AP's headling:

Trump, hoping to salvage midterms, makes a dubious pledge to give every US adult $5,000 if GOP wins

Quote :
"The dubious promise would most likely cost more than $1 trillion and require congressional approval, and would further exacerbate the country’s nearly $1.8 trillion annual budget deficit and concerns about inflation.

...

Goldwein added that dividends are something that companies pay when there’s a surplus, but the U.S. is running $2 trillion annual deficits and has $40 trillion in debt [first time it's topped $40T]"

""W/o getting drawn into the "seriously or literally" / "it'll never happen" trap, we need to stomp *hard* on the continuing effort to undermine Article 1 power of the purse by saying that this or that revenue stream makes something outside the normal budget process.

Money that comes into the United States government is government revenue. It is part of the public fisc. There's not "taxpayer money" and then "extra bonus money outside the rules." It's all taxpayer money. And spending *any* of it requires Congressional authorization.

This is genuinely one of the oldest and most fundamental points about legislative authority to constrain would-be absolute kings. The king wants to govern without parliamentary oversight. Parliament says "you need us to authorize taxes and military spending."

The king says "ah, but I'm creative and can extract revenue that isn't called a tax. And, neat trick, now I can spend it on creating my own personal army that Parliament didn't authorize."

This was fought out, 350 years ago.

And the constitutional settlement of it is absolutely part of the inherited structure of the U.S. constitution, which whatever else it was, was *not* an attempt to turn back the constitutional clock to the Stuart side in the English Civil War.

It's one unified federal purse.

And (wearying as it is to keep saying this day after day, issue after issue, but it's the only constitutional language we have for it) it is an impeachable offense to attempt such a circumvention of Congress.

I think it would be fair to impeache just for trial-ballooning it.""

"Donald Trump Jr.'s wedding celebration was partially funded by Russian oligarch, the couple confirms

“It’s unfortunate that something so personal and happy can be recast as something political or sinister simply because of who someone is or where they come from. Friendship doesn’t require a political motive. Generosity doesn’t automatically come with an agenda. And sometimes a wedding gift is simply a wedding gift.”

Kremlev was recently honored with the Order of Friendship by Putin, according to the International Boxing Association, and accompanied Putin to China as part of a Russian delegation, according to the Chinese state media cited by the outlet."

LOL!

Russian oligarchs are people too!

They have feelings! For instance, they feel it when they fall out of a high-rise hotel window and hit the ground:

Sounds good, but I am liberal again and have an EV, so I can't put it in my truck anymore. Will need a truck.

Ever since Musk did all the shit he did with “waste, fraud and abuse” at the beginning of this administration, conservatives have been frothing at the mouth over Teslas, so owning an EV is no longer a hallmark of liberal politics.

Now, if you drove a Subaru, then we can talk.

Hell, I’m almost liberal on most points these days. There’s still one that puts me in the bigot category though, so I guess that’s where I’ll have to stay.

I'm excited to see Trump's latest piss-baby act this afternoon when his man Kevin Warsh has up announce that the Fed is RAISING interest rates (mainly due to his terrible policies and actions, although I assume those details will be left out).

Trump's mother lived to be 88 and his father lived to be 93.

He's 80.

I imagine he's eaten more McDonald's than the two of them combined, tho.
