63 on my druid, just doing quests and instances for loot and not really grinding. Shorter instances = win.
1/20/2007 10:41:46 AM
Instances are so bad for XP. I make about 100k/hour solo questing/grinding. I make like 40-50k/hour when I'm running instances and while the loot is pretty good it will be replaced soon anyways so I'm pretty much done running instances until 70 unless there is a piece of gear I want and will be keeping past 70, which I doubt.

GO OUTSIDE!

1/20/2007 6:24:15 PM
^^^ i disagree to an extent. when you have 3-4 quests for an instance a couple levels higher than you and you can clear it in 30 mins its great xp, better than quest grinding. so i run em all just to do the quests then continue questing.
1/20/2007 6:28:51 PM
my guild chain runs instances and we get about 150K xp/hr.you must run with some shitty ass groups azaka
1/20/2007 6:34:46 PM
I'm still level 60.... /sigh
1/21/2007 1:26:25 AM
Both Azaka and Grandmaster,The point of the game is not to neccesarrily get the most XP per hour, its to enjoy the damn game...Stop trying to be the 'best' XP grinder and enjoy your own method. If you enjoy the innstances more, do those...If you enjoy the grinding more do that. If you want to be the best XP grinder...give up now, because there are people (most likely a LOT of people) better at it than either of you.$0.02 submitted.
1/21/2007 1:54:14 AM
ive really enjoyed everything so far. 10x better designed than original WoW and definitely worth the money. Zangarmarsh is my fav zone so far
1/21/2007 2:02:04 AM
Well the instance groups I've run in weren't guild xp grind runs, they were mostly PUGs with a few that I did with mostly my roommates guild. I have fun in the new instances, I like them a lot, but I'll have plenty of time to see them when we start running them on Heroic. I have been enjoying solo/group questing/grinding a lot. I just got done with Terrokar. I hated the Bone Wastes. I died more there than in all the other zones combined since I started leveling. Everything in that area dazes you off your mount and shit is cluttered so bad that there I got knocked off my mount almost every time I got on. I have yet to go to Blade's Edge, Shadowmoon Valley or Netherstorm, but so far my favorite zone is Nagrand. I don't know why, Zangramarsh is definitely the most interesting looking area I've seen but for some reason I just want to spend time in Nagrand (which I'm about to do). I've done everything in Hellfire, Zangramarsh and Terrokar. Where should I head after Nagrand? I'll be 66 very soon and will probably be into 67 before leaving Nagrand. Do I go to Shadowmoon or Blade's Edge? Are they roughly equal like Terrokar and Zangramarsh are? I plan to complete pretty much every quest in the Outlands just because I enjoy them and I am making crazy money; I've made 800g in 4 days.
1/21/2007 2:52:56 AM
definitely. Ive done every single quest in hellfire -> zangarmarsh -> terokkar -> nagrand except for 3 total. I pretty much have not based moving on to a new zone by level, instead once i have done every quest available I move onto the next zone. Its a good way to get to explore well, make money, and still level very fast without feeling any sort of a grind. I have not ONCE so far killed any mobs repeatedly for XP that werent involved in a quest. Quite the opposite from leveling in the original 1.0 release IMO.And i agree about the bone wastes. My least favorite part of Outlands so far. Everything dazes, a million mobs with huge aggro range. Nearly impossible to ride around without aggroing something...that most likely will dismount you. On top of that its boring, and Auchindoun is quite boring as well. I really enjoyed ramparts and the blood furnace even tho they were extremely easy. I also enjoyed slave pens and underbog, regardless of them being easy as well. But the Auchindoun instances are drab and uninteresting compared to the first couple zones.Nagrand was nice, it was a lot of fun questing there. Very open, and TONS of quests. I grouped with a druid friend and knocked every single quest out together with him. I know its a lot of people's favorite zone, definitely not mine but a fun zone to quest in nonetheless. just moved onto blades edge at level 67.PS ran the quest to save thrall a couple times today. If each of your members is not the recommended levels and/or has good gear, his escort could be quite a challenge I think. Caverns of time is pretty cool and I look forward to more stuff in there soon. [Edited on January 21, 2007 at 4:40 AM. Reason : ]

finally hit 70, with only 3000g though
1/21/2007 4:44:34 AM
grats bud. and yea, on beta everyone's account i saw/messed with that were friends of mine, they had over 4 and 5k. looks like im only going to have 2-3k as well when im done. luckily i dont think farming will be that hard with the amount of money things are dropping.
1/21/2007 4:55:16 AM
uhm, I've enjoyed the game already the past 4 months when I took my time exploring and site seeing on beta. Now it's time for me to run through everything so i can jump to 70 and start making server-firsts with my guild. We already have the most 67's and 68's on the server -_^I'm already finished with most of the Nagrand quests, I'll do a couple of the Ogre lines in Blade's Edge if it's not that crowded, then I'm off to Netherstorm.
1/21/2007 8:50:50 AM
Ding, finally70 graduated from college!
1/21/2007 10:14:14 AM
the expansion is a complete piece of shit I think. the content went by a lot faster, everything's difficulty has been nerfed to all hell, and phat lewts are a dime a dozen. they really turned the game into a casual/pvp oriented game, where casual players that claimed they had superior skills and were just undergeared, got their way. maybe 25 mans will prove to be a challenge, but so far everything is ezmode, and we don't even have 60+ paladins yet.[Edited on January 21, 2007 at 11:05 AM. Reason : 1 thing I notice, atleast in rogue gear, where the fuck is all the +hit +crit? even t5 lacks]
1/21/2007 11:02:51 AM
wait for the raiding to begin again... granted the smaller raids will be easier to casuals, but once full-time raiding restarts the difference in the gear will probably be almost as pronounced as it was before...
1/21/2007 12:01:04 PM
yep
1/21/2007 12:21:16 PM
god damn 3K gold already? Wonder how in the world the economy is going to react to the mass amounts of gold being accrued.
1/21/2007 12:28:38 PM
1/21/2007 12:59:34 PM
yeah economy is gonna get cooky
1/21/2007 1:07:26 PM
^^ that doesnt explain it (especially hit which has nothing to do with it), if anything im surprised they arent putting MORE crit on diff items as an incentive of getting more gear to overcome resilience.
1/21/2007 1:20:29 PM
my guess would be trying to roll a character on a server you dont have high lvl alts on is gonna be a pain in the ass, with the amount of gold people are collecting in the outlands you can expect things like linen to go up to over a gold a stack, because i mean what is 1g to someone with 5k?
1/21/2007 1:48:43 PM
what would someone with 5k gold be using linen for
1/21/2007 1:55:29 PM
alts and such
1/21/2007 2:03:13 PM
almost 61 . Taking my time plus playing around with my BE warlock.
1/21/2007 2:11:18 PM
i am about to ding lvl 6 on my BE Hunter. I get the award for most xp per hour. been playing since game release
1/21/2007 3:28:37 PM
We're on Destromath, bout to ding 54 on the mighty Diode .Maaaaaaaaahk, in game name is Demitri. I talked with my coworkers, we'll hook up with them later tonight.
1/21/2007 3:32:08 PM
sweet....I'll go ahead and do the transfer process with blizz.
1/21/2007 5:54:13 PM
Roll on Stormscale, Azaka and myself are on there, and my girlfriend also.
1/21/2007 6:23:31 PM
once the quests are over gold will be more difficult to obtain again. prices of most shit might spike in general but then level out again over time once people start raiding again and wiping everynight on progress runs
1/21/2007 6:39:06 PM
i'm on stormscale...
1/21/2007 6:55:50 PM
^^^azaka is NOT on stormscale.
1/21/2007 6:58:50 PM
Nah. I've got more reliable people on Destromath and if that doesn't work out then mark and I can transfer somewhere better when we both reach 70.<3 Azaka, YOU'RE MY BOY DERK.
1/21/2007 7:09:20 PM
i'll be 68 tonight, invisibility will be interesting to test out, ice lance FTW. All i really do is quest solo and group for elite quests, instance bad xp, and bad to waste time running over and over for upgrades, the quest stuff in netherstorm/shadowmoon will easily upgrade it.btw godly gear from the ring of blood quests in nagrand.
1/21/2007 7:14:34 PM
^^^ word on the street is that he's transferring as soon as transfers are available
1/21/2007 7:28:10 PM
that wasn't the latest WORD that we've heard from him.
1/21/2007 8:03:27 PM
1/21/2007 9:08:40 PM
lol so i finally took a venture into the outlands with one of my characters, my weakly geared warrior, makes me happy i didnt even bother playing any lvl 60 chars for the past 2 months, the first 3 quests in outlands all provide massive gear upgrades for me haha
1/21/2007 9:12:40 PM
i was just thinking how i was disappointed i hadnt really seen any upgrades yet (almost lvl 68) compared to the casters in my guild, when i got a quest in netherstorm for green bracers that are > dreadnaught.
1/21/2007 9:20:15 PM
Derk says something different every day.Yesterday he was saying how great his guild was and how awesome it was leveling with them or something to that effect. Regardless, not going to stormscale.Still, <3<3 derk
1/21/2007 10:13:47 PM
Its obvious they put a lot of work into this game. Very solid expansion. Few bugs, great scenery, great mechanics, lots of deep lore and fun world pvp.
1/22/2007 5:16:59 AM
Must own soundtrack! Does this expansion have a Diablo II expansion feel to it to anyone else?
1/22/2007 7:52:17 AM
I love the new expansion. It's definitely not geared toward the elitest gamer which is the directly WoW has been headed for a while. The introduction of pvp rewards, the change of how pvp rewards are obtained. They still want to have some risk vs reward but nothing in comparison to everquest. I like that. If I wanted a game where my uber loots meant I spent a shitload of time getting them then I'd be playing everquest. But I don't! I want a game I progress in and enjoy with friends or solo and the new expansion definitely provides that. Sure, the new 25 man instances will be something I'd like to hear about and see but it's not as important to me as having some good fun.I have to laugh at ANYONE busting their ass to 70. Great you're 70 what then? Now you get to wait for everyone else to get to 70. You should not be in any rush to get to the end game unless you want to be one of the first then more power to ya. I used to be that way in EQ back in college. Top of the server, top of everything... but in the end what did it get me? What did you really accomplish that you could take with you?Stop for a second. Look at the game. Don't focus on leveling. WoW isn't about having the best gear, it's very skill oriented. Stop thinking about leveling completely. What parts of the game do you enjoy most? Me? I play with 3 friends questing etc and just having a good time. We're all about the same level and level together. It's great . Try to refocus on what you enjoy about the game and do it. WoW's concept was to refocus on the fun of the game for everyone. I think they overwhelmingly succeeded.
1/22/2007 8:33:15 AM
Dude.Thinking like that could be the end of the world...........of Warcraft
1/22/2007 9:02:02 AM
Huzzah, Zangamarsh completed at the same time I leveled to 64.I ran Mana Tombs as lvl 62 on Sat., and that place was pretty hard. First time in a long time where I was really challenged. Got some BOP recipe though, so that was nifty. What is the instance behind the waterfall in Coils? I'm guesssing a 25 man?
1/22/2007 9:41:47 AM
Zangarmarsh reminds me of the underwater city in The Abyss.
1/22/2007 10:09:52 AM
What UI mods do you guys use? I used to use cosmos before the 2.0 patch but the new patch made it worthless and I've been messing around with Titan Bar combined with other minor mods
1/22/2007 11:11:27 AM
I still love Cosmos. It tweaks just enough of the base UI that I get a lot of mileage out of it. I have never really liked sweeping changes since it took me a while to get into any mods at all. The really simple things appeal to me - such as being able to have key name markers on every single button on every single bar, out-of-range bar coloring, on-bar cooldown counter, and the ability to drag any window/object anywhere on screen.I definitely like Auctioneer for improving the profitability of the AH. Looto is useful for keeping track of who picked up what during a raid. I also like SCT better than the Blizzard scroller, as I can add in special messages and sounds when certain combat events are triggered. I used to really hate how Focus would trigger and I'd miss it with the Hand of Edward the Odd, so now I have SCT pop up a huge reminder and play a sound to let me know it's active. I used to like a really great auto-engage-combat addon called DefendYourself!, but it no longer works with 2.0+. Oh, the new Decursive 2.0 is also excellent. I think I honestly like it better than the original since it has significantly improved reporting options.
1/22/2007 11:53:55 AM
I play a warlock and I currently use the following mods (WoW 2.0.5):Warlock SpecificNecrosis - tracks shards, manages stones, gives menus for curses, demon summoning, various spells, etc...(I used to use shard tracker resurrection and count doom but they haven't been updated post 2.0)GeneralAuctioneer - the uber auction tool (auctioneer is actually a suite of tools)Gatherer - gathering node tracker and databaseEnchantrix - info and assistance on enchanting and enchanting materials (so I know what item to send to alts to DE)Lootlink - Searchable loot DBMobinfo2 - give info on the mobs you can fight including healthRaidCT - the most popular raid assistance utility (currently real buggy)Atlas - Instance mapsAtlasloot - integrates with atlas and provides loot and rewards information for factions and bosssesOutfitter - manages different armour and weapon setsTitanbar - popular info bar - displays cash, XP stats, coords, bag capacity, etc....Damagemeters - a popular e-peen measuring toolKTMthreatmeter - a threat meter that keeps me from over nuking and getting my face eaten by big nasty mobs in raids and groupsTitanCritLine - tracks spell damage statistics and integrates into TitanbarI don't play with the default UI any. I think the blizzard UI is clean and well layed out. I use the extra action bars included in the standard UI and it gives me just enough room for everything I need. I have a second chat window for raid/group chat and whispers. I use the target of target, enemy casting bar, and the floating combat text functions built into the stadard blizzard UI.[Edited on January 22, 2007 at 12:17 PM. Reason : spelling]
