Haha I'll go ahead and jump off a building in anticipation of Nacho suggesting I should feel obligated to off myself for making such a stupid comment.

Holy shit, just got an amber alert with my headphones on at work and it about scared the shit out of me. If they want people to leave that on then they shouldn't make them so obnoxious.
5/2/2013 4:32:58 PM
yeah i turned those botches off yester after getting two. kept the emergency alerts though.

Dropped my iPhone today and the screen quit working(4S).Not close to an upgrade at this point, went to ATT and any option was going to cost me a ton.Any chance to take it somewhere to be repaired? Best options/suggestions from anyone before I spend a lot replacing it? I swear I bought the protection thing when I got the 4S but they said I didn't.
5/14/2013 3:25:17 PM

are iphones just that much more fragile than other phones? i don't ask out of any form of apple-hate, i just see folks with broken phones all the time, and every now and then FB pops up with someone complaining that they broke their iphone screeni probably just set myself up to break the screen on my bionic
5/14/2013 5:00:15 PM

5/14/2013 5:38:08 PM
titans you can get a new iphone 4s at apple for 199...i know that isn't cheap, but it is probably cheaper than what att told you
5/14/2013 8:04:44 PM
Actually it's the same price man
5/14/2013 8:29:05 PM
^^^^ only iphone i've ever broken was because i threw it into a wall; cracked the corner of a 3G when i dropped it, but i don't think i had a case on it. they're tough if you're at least halfway careful with them.[Edited on May 14, 2013 at 8:30 PM. I only dropped it like 3 feet and it was in a case. However it hit totally flush face down and I think that is why it went.I couldn't get a 4S at ATT for $200 or I would have done that. They said it was $250 to get an early upgrade. Then after I paid $250 I could have gotten a free 4, or then paid whatever the upgrade price was for any phone. Problem is I don't have a lot of time to repair/wait on ebay. Traveling this weekend and a working phone would be helpful. I wish I had time to do the ebay repair.
5/15/2013 8:22:37 AM
Went to apple. They gave me new phone. Wish AT&T would have just told me that but better to try and rip people off I guess.
5/15/2013 12:02:58 PM
Is there a reliable way to unlock a 4s without jailbreaking? (note: i don't believe that I am eligible for the unlock through ATT due to still being in contract)
5/16/2013 1:24:51 PM
Wondering the same thing^putting it on Tmobile
5/16/2013 3:11:16 PM
$20 unlocks for all AT&T iPhones. http://chronicunlocks.com/ Looks sketchy, but I've heard many many good things about this site. He used to run $3 unlock specials every month or so a while back, but I haven't seen anything like that lately. Note: Unless something has changed at T-Mobile recently (well, ok something DID change recently, but I guess I mean unless I don't understand what changed recently) you can only get Edge data on a 4S on t-Mobile. I'm fairly certain the only phones that work on T-Mobile are LTE and edge, but it's entirely possible I'm wrong on that part.]

I've had my iphone5 for about 7 or 8 months now...and I will say that the one thing I miss about my Galaxy phone is Swype. I remember arguing with a few people on here about how great I thought it was and how I wasn't looking forward to the iphone keyboard. Well I thought I'd eventually get use to it...and while it doesn't bother me that much...whenever I use my fiancee's phone (Galaxy)...it makes me miss swype so much. It's so friggin easy. iphone keyboard can still be extremely frustrating.
5/21/2013 7:57:28 AM
^ Totally agree, nothing beats Swiftkey's combination of Swype and text predction.
5/21/2013 12:47:10 PM
anyone else's 5 battery life suffering these days? thankfully i don't use my phone often during the work day enough to drain it by the end of the day, but while I was in NYC i could literally use my phone for basic applications and see the battery draining like sand from an hourglass. part of me thinks it's NYC, the constant in and out of serviceable areas, tall buildings, bouncing from tower to tower but I feel like, more so than any other iPhone, that i need to have access to a charger any chance i get.]
5/21/2013 2:18:46 PM
get an app that calculates what apps are using the most battery life.it really helps and youd be amazed which ones that are open use the most battery life and bandwith too
5/21/2013 2:51:27 PM
do you have one to recommend?finallyfast.com?]
5/21/2013 5:01:27 PM
I used Carat for a long time, i dunno if its still in the app store.battery life pro is what my brother uses but im not sure its free anymore.
5/21/2013 6:34:39 PM
both are in the store and free

following a live blog (no video) but apparently the changes to OS7 are "massive", and a "complete overhaul"
6/10/2013 2:25:03 PM
i.e. they change how the icons look.
6/10/2013 2:55:32 PM
so... how can one get the beta version of ios7?
6/10/2013 3:01:40 PM
^^ it's actually very, very different^ you have to have a developer account
6/10/2013 3:07:59 PM
any details? i want it to be not boring anymore.
6/10/2013 3:11:14 PM

Don't get me wrong ... iOS7 has a much needed facelift (although I think it's too pastel), and it has many greatly needed features now baked into the main OS ... but it has to be said:Android 4 vs. iOS7:https://securecdn.disqus.com/uploads/mediaembed/images/516/528/original.jpg(credit: http://www.droid-life.com/2013/06/10/ios7-vs-android-a-quick-comparison-after-the-wwdc-keynote/)[Edited on June 10, 2013 at 6:13 PM. it seems like a nice android skin, that's why I like it
6/10/2013 6:11:56 PM
6/10/2013 8:50:47 PM
It's not like they are doing anything revolutionary but I am still excited about it. I've had an android phone before but wouldn't go back for these types of features, just like iPhone better.
6/10/2013 9:39:11 PM
^^^^ ironic part of that graphic is that the very first comparison is easily the weakest one. the others are inarguably close.i welcome the stolen ideas. now i don't have to decide between the next iphone or... something else
6/10/2013 11:18:12 PM
lol. the new ios icons look horrible. and all these screenshots have white text on super light backgrounds. what the fuck were they thinking.
6/10/2013 11:56:17 PM
you know that background is changeable. no company in the world can create an icon set that everyone will like.the text decisions will only haunt them if you can't adjust color/contrast, but i have to imagine they're at least somewhat aware of accessibility concerns. it'll be hard to judge until you're physically looking at a screen, either way.
6/11/2013 12:17:56 AM
Windows Phone 8 + Touchwiz = iOS7
6/11/2013 6:36:16 AM
Yeah kind of Ugly. But hey good thing you can change the icon sets. Oh wait...
6/11/2013 9:12:49 AM
here is another article about the new ios7http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2013/06/10Apple-Unveils-iOS-7.htmlI'm mostly excited about the new lock screen features even though right now I have a lot of that functionality through Cydia tweaks. Looking forward to Notification Center and Control Center directly accessible from lock screen. Also like the new lock screen look, they finally made a clear lock screen. I wish they would add current weather conditions under date and time but that can easily be found in the notification center. Still it would be useful and Driod has had that feature since it launched.

Has anyone without their phone on a dev account tried updating to iOS 7 by downloading the .ipsw from a mirror and then using iTunes to update directly from the .ipsw file?I've heard mixed reports of it a) working perfectly b) locking users out of the device saying that the UID isn't registered on a dev account
6/11/2013 11:46:08 AM
yeah, heard that too... got anyone to put you under their dev account? I am doing so with a guy from work today
6/11/2013 3:00:03 PM
Just to answer my own question, as long as you load the .ipsw via a shift click on update, rather than restore, there's no UDID issue. I've been running iOS 7 for half the day with no problem.

What are your impressions?
