Funny, because 95% of the posts made on here I liken to those on the Canes FB page, same general hockey knowledge.

That post wasn't entirely serious, in that it won't ever happen, but I'd be willing to give up Skinner and some pieces for Jones.

This made me lol a little. We suck and suck often. Missing the playoffs in 9th place means we had a shitty team. Finishing where we are now means we had a shitty team. Hell, sneaking in the playoffs as the 8 seed means we are average.

We have made the playoffs exactly 2 times in the last 10 seasons. 2 !!!!!

Over half the teams in the league make the playoffs every year and we can only rate it 20% of the time with 'elite' goaltending and forward personnel.

^^ I'm all for letting a lot of the defense go. McBain, Sanguinetti, Corvo, etc. Same shit every year where we have a terrible defense, incredibly streaky offense, and a streaky goaltender (although that likely has a lot to do with the shit defense).

Read on Twitter where he said they'll be looking to add salary to add 2-3 defensemen and that they had defensemen this past year who were capable of playing physically, but just didn't. Of all the defensemen outside of Gleason, and maybe Harrison, which defenseman on the entire roster this seasaon had ever shown they could play physical?

Yeah, I agree with calling out Gleason and Harrison, especially since we should be retaining both. They're big, strong defensemen, but not big hitters. That's gotta change. Sounds like they're finally serious about addressing our constantly shitty blue line, though.

Also I found this interesting: "After acquisition of Bergeron, #Canes PP was 8-for-39 (20.5%). Scoring at that clip all season would have ranked 5th in East, 6th in NHL." I wouldn't be surprised if we kept him as a bottom pairing/7th guy while Murphy acclimates to the NHL game. I personally wouldn't mind so long as he doesn't get a salary increase.

With the forward dropoff that we have in the bottom half of the lineup (meaning dressing seven D isn't losing much), I definitely wouldn't mind keeping Bergeron for PP duty if he's cheap.

^ I'm kind of with you there. He was bending/unbending his leg a lot while he was on the ground. I'm sure it hurt like hell, but most of the time when you get a nasty ACL+ tear, you don't thrash your leg around. In addition to the ACL being torn, you probably did damage to the surrounding muscles and/or meniscus, and when those are injured they do not want you to move your knee.
However, sometimes you'll get a sneaky ACL tear that doesn't damage anything around it, so it's not a foolproof method of diagnosis.

A 3rd degree MCL sprain actually means a complete MCL tear. The good thing is that Staal obviously has a ton of additional supporting muscles in his leg, so he can be fine playing without an MCL.

i tore my acl in 2006 playing pick up ball at state. i heard the pop (sounded like a gunshot in my head). i walked off the court. figured it was supposed to hurt and it didn't so i figured i didn't do any major damage. walked home to college inn. found out i had ripped the acl completely off the femur.

point is, he could have been bending his knee all kinds of ways and that still wouldn't mean it wasn't torn. thank god it wasn't.
