I'm sitting on 85k right now.I have about 500K airline miles, but only 200K hotel pts so I may xfer them to hyatt later on.I figure at the very least it would be best to hold on to a few thousand pts in case I ever need to top off one of my accounts in the future.

Just saw that you can exchange points for free on points.com...the conversion rate is terrible and not all points are exchangeable...but if you've got worthless points somewhere that are going to expire or you just don't care about them you might as well get SOME use out of themfor instance, I'm about to exchange 3,021 Frontier Airlines miles to 557 US Air miles...and I might turn in my 2,596 JetBlue miles for 1,539 US Air miles[Edited on February 13, 2014 at 2:17 PM. looks like sellmyrewards will give me 1.7 cents per point - that sounds absurdly high to me but hard to pass up
2/13/2014 2:17:16 PM
Yeah, I think 1.6 was the highest I've seen in the past.Have you guys used that site before?
2/13/2014 3:26:58 PM
i'm at 221,099 with chase UR which is giving me $0.01692 per point on that site - i was planning to use them on amazon in the future to buy a new camera but with the conversion that they are giving screw amazon
2/13/2014 3:50:50 PM
Nice. You putting all your work expenses on that card?
2/13/2014 4:06:01 PM
lemme know if another of you uses sellmyrewards successfully,
2/13/2014 5:33:46 PM
when we were in australia we got the sapphire preferred because of no foreign transaction fees and we were able to put rent on the card which was about 2800/mo on top of some travel expenses - we both have a corporate amex but a lot of places didn't take amex over there and in that case we used the chase card - they have gotten more strict in the past ~6 months but neither my wife or I travel for work anymore now that we are back in the USi'm not willing to be the guinea pig - someone else post their experience

^^I have some points in a US Airways account that I will likely never use (because fuck US Air) so I filled out a quote request on sellmyrewardsI'll report back when something happens[Edited on February 13, 2014 at 11:24 PM. Reason : .]

Does anyone know what happens if I want to take my mother in law off as an authorized user? Can they just nuke her card or do they have to nuke them all and send new ones? I am looking for some passive aggressive shit I can pull like saying there was a data breach and chase cancelled the cards, and just tell her they never sent her a new one. If I tell her to give the card back she is either going to cry or cuss me out and I don't want to hear it.
2/16/2014 10:08:35 PM
^do we want to know why she has one in the first place? But seriously, just call and they cancel it. Depending on the company, they might issue all new cards, they might not.
2/16/2014 11:49:09 PM
My wife thinks she needs one for "emergencies". To me an "emergency" is breaking down hours away from home and having to get an unforseen tow, car repair, hotel, etc. Failing to work for weeks and then being broke (no gas/food/wine money) as a result is not an emergency, its a choice. If I can cut that one off and my wife still wants her to have one then she can get a separate account. Then I wont have to dig out the random trips to the grocery store and shit out of the middle of all the legitimate charges and be the bill collector.
2/17/2014 2:17:16 PM
It seems really strange to me that your MIL is on one of your accounts as an authorized user. What were the parameters set up? How often does she use it? Does she reimburse you? Why doesn't she have her own "emergency" CC? How did your wife sell this to you? This is fascinating.
2/18/2014 3:08:36 AM
Yeah, there are plenty of crappy credit cards she could get in the case of an emergency, even if she has bad credit.
2/18/2014 8:17:56 AM
I tried getting her a crapital one card for bad credit and it got flat out denied online, not even the old "we will send you a letter" thing. Any suggestions for other cards she could try?

^^ I got the same thing on the Sapphire preferred card I have since I used it at target. Think they're just being proactive
2/24/2014 1:39:44 PM
I called them today and they are running behind sending out the new cards due to ordering so many at once. I told them I lost my card at the bar and they cut off all 3 cards and are overnighting new ones.
2/24/2014 4:32:31 PM
I still haven't heard back from sellmyrewards...and I sent another quote request one day last week just in case it didn't go through the first time
2/24/2014 4:34:31 PM
When's Southwest doing another 50k promotion?
2/24/2014 4:59:01 PM
^^ would like to hear more about when you complete your transaction with sellmyrewards. Most folks have said it's fine but that it takes several days for them to get back with you.
2/25/2014 8:48:00 AM
^^ Why didn't you grab them in Oct?
2/25/2014 9:04:28 AM
I did, I just completely fucked up and earned 50k in December (and 50k in Jan)

two things...1. Those of you with Chase Sapphire Preferred cards. Have you had trouble getting your extra bonus points for transactions made within the "UR Mall"? I did a little post Christmas shopping in the UR Mall, never got my bonuses, and when I called they said that all of my transactions were not made within the mall. WTF? You click on the store within the mall, it transfers you to that webpage, you shop and pay? What am i doing incorrectly?2. Anyone looked into the Barclays Arrival Mastercard? 40k bonus after $3k in 3 mos., 2x miles per $1.
2/25/2014 10:23:35 AM
2. Great card. Even better if you can still get the 1K minimum spend offer.http://millionmilesecrets.com/2014/02/21/barclays-arrival-minimum-spending-increases-to-3000-in-3-months/#more-61511
2/25/2014 10:38:50 AM
^^1. It could be a tracking/cookie issue. When you click on external websites they issue you an individual tracking number (for ebates, I usually take a screenshot of that while the external site is loading in case I never get credit for it). If you have cookies disabled, this might affect it, and if you open up a site like retailmenot and then click on THEIR referral links it will "void" the original tracking cookie[Edited on February 26, 2014 at 3:35 PM. I'm very interested in the changes made for redeeming peso delta mileshttp://www.delta.com/content/www/en_US/skymiles/2015-skymiles-program.html?MkCpgn=EM_MKTG_TRAN_A01E_SM_PR_140204_AA004196_P0
2/27/2014 4:13:54 PM
Hopefully it raises their value
2/27/2014 9:13:14 PM
Entirely unlikely. Delta has been on a mission to dilute anything that helps the value customer. They are working to make the elites happy at the cost of everyone else. They have been making too many changes in the last year, and I suspect Richard Anderson is going to feel the negative effects of those changes in about a year, as many people (me included) transition away from Delta.

^+1http://thepointsguy.com/2014/02/delta-confirms-negative-skymiles-program-changes-effective-january-2015/Breakdown from a consumer perspective.Once I've redeemed my 3 years' worth of accumulated skymiles I'm planning on ditching any CC's devoted to Delta. It was barely been worth it to begin with but now its just plain ridiculous if you arent a travelling businessman.[Edited on February 28, 2014 at 9:53 AM. Reason : .]

Anyone have the discover it card? I'm thinking of opening one to hold on to.Right now I have the Chase Freedom, Citi Thankyou, and with this that's 3 cards with the major companies.I plan on using this card at Sams Club (where I do tons of shopping, my others are VISA which they dont accept) unless you know of one (no fee) that would be better to use. And its nice that its a no-fee card with a no foreign transaction fee, although i'm not sure how much discover is accepted abroad.
2/28/2014 10:01:33 AM
my loyalty with delta lies solely with the fact that 98% of the time I fly out of CVG which is a delta hub, and over the years other airlines have been dropping routes like hot potatoes. the only direct flight from cvg-sfo (where I most often fly) is delta. everything else, even out of our close-ish aiports (DAY, IND) isn't direct. I'll probably hang on to my Skymiles AMEX just for the free bag bennies (and the other benefits of having a long-term AMEX...have had this since 2007).
2/28/2014 1:18:26 PM
I finally pulled the trigger on the DiscoverIT card. I found a link online that listed the $150/750 promotion, and the lady online said if it was there i'd get it (which I verified after applying). I was immediately approved, and the guy via chat said I was approved for a $8,000 CL. I was shocked at the level. I have 2 other cards, each with a 3,000-3,500 score, and a TransUnion score of 730. Is this normal for Discover to give such a high limit? My other two cards are both less than 18 months old.
3/2/2014 6:33:07 PM
It seems to me, especially if its not a store-branded card, that the CL seem completely arbitrary but (as expected) to be based on your credit score regardless of logical need. As my scores went up over the past 10 years my CC's always ended up with a high and higher CL amount, the last card I got when my scores were all over 800 and had no debt was the aforementioned Penfed card, for $27500. For a gas rewards card. It just blew my mind as well. I bought a house and mortgage after that so my score tanked to low 700s, then I apply for the Discover card from Walmart to get the free Transunion FICO score and I get a $1900 initial CL for a general purpose card.
3/2/2014 7:32:48 PM
After the recent changes to the Delta Sky Club for Reserve card holders, I'll probably transition from the Reserve to the Platinum card.

Very cool concept called "The Wallaby Card" that promises to maximize credit card rewards for those of us with multiple rewards cards. Similar to Coin in that you can use store multiple cards on one but this one also provides a strategy on best time to use each card. https://walla.by/the-wallaby-card?ref=82ba2092FYI, this is a referral link but I would appreciate if you would use it if you decide to sign up.

Sold some of my UR points to Bruce earlier today. 1.35 cents/point seems to be the highest he'll pay currently.
3/5/2014 10:32:01 PM
who is Bruce? and does he do airline miles?
3/5/2014 11:19:28 PM
^^ how many points?

So does the 7% bonus on the Sapphire Preferred only apply to the initial 1pt per $1 and not the bonus points for food and travel? If not, I got shafted.
3/11/2014 11:49:07 AM
3/11/2014 2:31:02 PM
i wasn't aware of the 7% bonus - almost covers the yearly cost of the card for me at this pointdid anyone ever confirm the website where you can sell them for something like 1.7c each was legit?

That reminds me that I need to call and see if I can work my way out of the annual fee on the CSP. Worked on Ink Plus so guess it won't hurt since I have to call them anyways to figure out why the 7% didn't get applied to the bonus points.
