^^maybe Shut Down and Restart are just messed up and backwardsI was just about to reboot mine from Droid to WebOS and thought of your post and went to shut down instead of restart...it restarted the device
5/10/2012 6:12:18 PM
nope, not consistently backwards, just inconsistentluckily thats the only major issue, and its not major
5/12/2012 3:33:34 AM
My left speaker somehow died I emailed customer service and they are actually going to fix it for me. I suppose I should wipe it back to stock WebOS before I send it in.
5/13/2012 12:19:00 AM
i'd probably run the ACMEUninstaller (if you have Android on it) as well as the preware 'Uninstall Android' or whatever its called, just in case they actually physically repair the speakers instead of giving you a new onebut there shouldnt be any need to uninstall anything on the WebOS side imocool that they're willing to fix it though, good to know]
5/13/2012 12:46:57 AM
I'm finishing up the wipe from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426244. Everything went fairly smoothly. It was overkill, but I didn't have much to lose on the WebOS side anyways.I was surprised that that they offered to fix it with little questions. Apparently Preware isn't even a warranty issue...she asked what patches/apps I had installed. I didn't mention I had CM9 on there though.
5/13/2012 1:04:15 AM
yeah, i wouldnt have mentioned CM9 eitherjust curious, did you have some type of Preware "Increase Max Volume" patch on it?it would suck if that somehow could possibly cause a physically blown speaker
5/13/2012 1:06:45 AM
I don't believe I had messed with the volume. I had overclocked it to 1.5Ghz on the WebOS side with Uberkernel, but little beyond that.I'm not really sure what happened to the speaker. It had been off and unused for month or so until yesterday when I fired it up to load the latest CM9 build.
5/13/2012 1:31:22 AM
Anybody installed Ubuntu? Wondering if its even worth messing with since I've got Chrome on the Droid side
5/14/2012 10:19:25 PM
Just got a refurb from hp today to replace the one I had with a broken speaker. I was impressed with Palm's customer service. Fairly quick turnaround and free overnight shipping both ways. Sucks that they are probably all getting fired Nevermind...Just set it up and there's still no sound out of the left speaker. Sigh...[Edited on May 24, 2012 at 7:02 PM. Reason : :]
5/24/2012 6:48:33 PM
I finally updated cm9 with a nightly, had been using the same thing since like Februarywas on 4.0.3, now i think it's on 4.0.4 android
5/28/2012 11:04:10 PM
^^thats lame as shit^notice anything new/different/better? still no camera/mic support?
5/28/2012 11:06:52 PM
right on the 2nd questionmy tablet had been randomly rebooting, so i think it fixed that...and twidroid (twitter app) would randomly lose its settings and I'd have to reset everything (pain because it prompts you to restart the app after every setting change)
5/28/2012 11:19:41 PM
anybody know of a way to put a fake IMEI number into CM9? i read where there was an installer you could flash on a Nook, but don't know about Touchpads...some Android apps require an IMEI number, and the Touchpad doesn't have one since it doesn't have a cellular radio, but I didn't know if there was one to put in a fake one to be able to use some apps]
6/29/2012 2:27:54 PM
I hope you're talking about third-party apps, because I don't think Google would allow apps in the Market that required an IMEI number without actually using cellular service: I mean the Nexus 7 tablet, with no cellular capability, is about to be released!
6/29/2012 2:57:27 PM
well, i don't think Google designed the Play Store with the HP Touchpad and a custom ROM in mindhence there are apps that show up and install, but get server connection issues based on the app's internal verificationi guess they shouldn't show up in the first place, but again, its basically from a hacked device
6/29/2012 3:20:55 PM
Anyone interested in buying my Touchpad?I just don't find myself using it enough...32GB+OEM Case+Touchstone
7/20/2012 12:38:46 AM
$25
7/20/2012 12:56:56 AM
$25.50
7/20/2012 8:08:39 AM
$25.51Is this the start of another firesale?? [Edited on July 20, 2012 at 9:27 AM. Reason : .]
7/20/2012 9:26:57 AM
$27.27
7/20/2012 9:57:49 AM
I think I have it sold. Thanks for the interest, though. Maybe if this falls through you guys can pool your bids together and start a touchpad timeshare.
7/20/2012 4:35:47 PM
Even at $99 I still feel like I vastly overpaid for this thing.
7/20/2012 7:28:14 PM
^
7/20/2012 8:54:17 PM
I would've paid $99 if all it was was a portable Netflix player, let alone all the other stuff it does
7/20/2012 9:58:03 PM
lolkeep holdin down the fort, tree
7/20/2012 11:59:13 PM
its not an ipad3 but people who act like $99 is way overpriced are just being dumb
7/21/2012 12:03:53 AM
I rarely use mine but it was still worth $99. It's just that I got my Razr for a penny on Amazon so I get even more out of that and it's more portable.
7/21/2012 10:28:03 AM
I still use mine quite a bit-when it's my turn
7/23/2012 7:20:12 AM
Mine gets plenty of casual use. I definitely don't regret purchasing the 32GB at $150 and get plenty of use out of it. Is it a high-res screen, nope, but it's not exactly low-res either. I have no problems reading anything or seeing detail. But maybe I'm just getting older.
7/23/2012 12:21:14 PM
Jellybean ported to Touchpad...early build though, I'm gonna wait til they add HD video supportit'd be funny if they get the video fixed (ie Youtube, Netflix) before the Nexus 7 gets the upgrade to 4.1
8/8/2012 8:26:46 PM
nexus 7 shipped with 4.1you might be thinking of the Verizon galaxy nexus
8/8/2012 9:55:45 PM
whoops thenstill cool that the antiquated touchpad is still getting love from the XDA community
8/9/2012 1:13:40 AM
I'm beginning to think HP's USB cables are shit. Have 2 Touchpads and one cable went out about a month after I got it and the cable for the other just messed up a couple weeks ago. Ordered 2 spares from HP in early June and one of those has already failed.
8/9/2012 8:30:43 AM
I use them all the time around my house and never had them go bad (I have 6 of them thanks to Palm Pre replacements, haha), what are you doing to them??
8/9/2012 10:44:54 AM
Nothing, besides using them. You can wiggle the wire on the microusb end and it'll work briefly but then quit.
8/9/2012 11:07:46 AM
my android wall charger must've gotten a short from inadvertently stretching it too many times...lately i've been using my touchpad's usb/ac adapter to charge my phone overnight
8/9/2012 11:44:21 AM
well looks like the first touchpad I bought last august shit the bed. Won't power on or do anything now. Luckily the credit card I used offers an extended warranty but they only cover repair/replacement up to the amount charged on the card or a refund of the purchase price. Quote from HP was for $385 so looks like I'll just be getting a refund of the $160.11.
10/25/2012 1:39:00 PM
did it just die out of nowhere? i still use mine pretty much everyday, but i'm pretty gentle with it.
10/25/2012 1:46:12 PM
Put it on the charger at 30% and woke up to a completely dead touchpad the next morning. Looks like I just have a knack for getting POS HP cables because this one has a short too. No response when pushing the power button, power+home or any other button combination and does nothing when plugged in with multiple chargers that work on the other Touchpad I bought. Looking on google, quite a few people have the issue of it not booting after letting the battery drain all the way down when running android.
10/25/2012 1:56:57 PM
That happened to me as well.oddly enough, i plugged it in again a few weeks later and it worked. i posted about it in this thread a while back.
10/25/2012 2:03:54 PM
Finally put mine up on Craigslist. It was pretty awful with web os and I never had the patience to get android running on it.
10/25/2012 4:39:13 PM
bump because I installed a 4.1.2 rom with 4.2 gapps over my year old cm9 installation and they greatly improved the ppi quality somehow because i swear it looks prettier, also used the build.prop trick to make all programs (netflix) think I'm running a nexus 10 for better HD compatibility
2/6/2013 5:29:30 PM
did you lose any app data when you upgraded the OS?
2/6/2013 5:31:52 PM
all the data is still on the "sdcard" but then again even if it wasn't I don't use the tablet for data I would want to keep, sorry wish I could help more
2/7/2013 9:26:26 AM
Yes, you'll lose app data, and honestly you should backup everything off your "sdcard" just in case something goes wrong there.Go get the DataSync Beta https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quintstoffers.DataSync.beta&hl=en and use it to save off your apps data into backups either locally or into Dropbox.
2/7/2013 10:33:11 AM
timely bump, and i'm going to ask a lazy question What's the latest/most stable version of android for the TP? A while back, you had to have windows to convert to android-- have any of y'all had success converting with a Mac?
2/7/2013 11:00:01 AM
It's been so long since I converted I don't remember what all is involved. I would think the individual commands would be fine in os x, but if there's some kind of batch or vb script that automates the whole process; that might of course give problems.I just updated to CM9 nightly from 2.3.13 on TP and CM10 2.3.13 on evo lte.Are these things still selling for a decent price?
2/7/2013 11:05:45 AM
I tried running CM10, but it was unstable as hell. I have been running CM9 (4.0.4) for several months with zero problems.
