^^is the reason I go for the chargers. They don't have anyrings. Let me like who I like. There's no bandwagon to be found.
12/22/2010 12:27:49 PM
jesus christ SD... the Bengals?? really??? with their best player out?
12/26/2010 4:48:33 PM
Props to the cincci rookies. I just don't undersand the chargers this year. Glad I'm not a football coach
12/26/2010 4:54:51 PM
fire norv
12/26/2010 5:13:06 PM
Has tolbert been benched?
12/26/2010 5:19:53 PM
he got taken out on a stretcher
12/26/2010 5:24:31 PM
aw man. He was running like a beast the last few weeks
12/26/2010 5:35:23 PM
He fumbled twice in like 5 carries today
12/26/2010 5:48:40 PM
god dammit sigh
12/26/2010 6:14:46 PM
WTF happened to the reciever there? He jumped like 2 inches to try to make the catch, then instead of tackling the guy making the interception he just limped off to the side.
12/26/2010 6:23:14 PM
boom
12/26/2010 6:39:45 PM
Where the fuck is the defense. How were they number 1 at any point of the year.
12/26/2010 6:42:18 PM
getting dominated by a totally shit team with none of their good players in... pitiful
12/26/2010 6:48:14 PM
Fuck Norv Turner and AJ Smith. This is absolute bullshit. Fire everyone.
12/26/2010 6:53:33 PM
definition of a finesse team (excluding tolbert) with no finesse or anything for that matter on special teamsplay anyone remotely physical and it is over...hire cowher[Edited on December 26, 2010 at 8:03 PM. Reason : .]
12/26/2010 8:01:04 PM
How does the chargers annihilate kansas city, embarrass indianapolis, YET lose to the arguably second worst team in the nfl. This along with our fluky fuckups/losses can only be one variable coaching.....
12/27/2010 12:08:55 AM
Not exactly the best game from Rivers either.Just a couple games takes you from being talked about as a surefire MVP candidate to not even being talked about.
12/27/2010 7:47:26 AM
KC didn't have their starting QB.
12/27/2010 8:15:52 AM
Surely this gets Norv gone finally?Who do they hire? Try for Gruden, Cowher, Dungy, etc. or promote Rivera?
12/27/2010 2:12:19 PM
^^^ no shit, thank god I didnt need him this week[Edited on December 27, 2010 at 4:21 PM. Reason : d]
12/27/2010 4:21:46 PM
Norv is prolly coming back in 2011. I hope he's fired, but AJ Smith likes him. AJ prefers his coaches to be submissive, weak and effeminate, not aggressive, fiery or strong-willed. Norv can cry and wilt with the best of em. If the Chargers want a real head coach, they are gonna have to fire AJ.The team will move to LA in 2012. Around that time they'll probably get a big name head coach, as well.
12/27/2010 5:02:19 PM
will they be called the Red Batton Chargers?
12/27/2010 5:40:04 PM
12/27/2010 5:57:24 PM
Iguess we are the steelers of last year

So, they officially finished the season with the #1 offense and the #1 defense, yet missed the playoffs.http://www.nfl.com/stats/teamI found this interesting blurb also
1/3/2011 11:22:49 AM
Charlie Whitehurst gets his revenge!!!
1/3/2011 12:31:21 PM
Special teams were terrible, but unless you can go back and confirm that special teams alone led to 4 or more losses, the fact is that this team was just not very good.
1/3/2011 12:36:31 PM
1/3/2011 12:39:46 PM
I'd add fumbles & Norv to the special teams excuse
1/3/2011 12:39:48 PM
Also, I always thought using yards as the official ranking of offenses and defenses was silly. It should be points, as thats all that matters. And the Chargers finished 2nd and 10th, offensively and defensively.
1/3/2011 12:42:42 PM
Yeah they were 3rd in fumbles lost also. So that was a big problem too, none of their RB's can hold onto the ball. Fumbles cost them the Patriots game, special teams lost them the Raiders, Seahawks, and Chiefs games. All 4 of those games were absolutely dominated by the Chargers but were given away on miscues.Other than someone having to take the blame for Special teams (Steve Crosby as ST coach, Norv as head coach supposedly being responsible for everything that happens, AJ Smith for not having good personnel) I think Norv did a good job this year. He did have that offense rolling despite having nobodies in as receivers and constant injuries to skill players.[Edited on January 3, 2011 at 12:49 PM. Reason : ^ Maybe, but only if you just count points scored by offenses and points scored against defenses]
1/3/2011 12:45:41 PM
I guess you could call them extremely unlucky, and the fact is this team would probably beat KC on a neutral field 7 or 8 times out of 10. But the fact remains, that they only won half their games, got swept by the Raiders, and laid a huge egg in Cincy in a game they absolutely had to have. The GM did his job...talent wise, this is a top 5 team. Its the players and coaches fault for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, time and time again.
1/3/2011 12:50:22 PM
How bout those fucking raiders. Send those fuckers to the playoffs.
1/3/2011 12:53:03 PM
The Raiders went 6-0 in the division and 2-8 out of the division. And they played the NFC West.
1/3/2011 1:17:11 PM
I did not see the game but heard special teams almost fumbled the game for the chargers by allowing a KR for a TD and a on-side recovery. The chargers must have the record for most special teams touchdowns allowed in a single season.

1/3/2011 2:00:17 PM
Slave Famous, please help me understand your top five talent comment. I consistently hear this from the media as well, but outside of quarterback, tightend, and maybe Vincent jackson--i don't see any other players who I would consider a top 5 or even top 10 player in the NFL.
1/3/2011 2:57:01 PM
Their offensive line is pretty damn solid. Marcus McNeil is probably one of the best offensive lineman in the league.Their defense is just solid all around. Philips is a great linebacker, Quentin Jammer use to be one of the best corners in the league and even though he has slowly declined the last year or two, it hasn't been by much. Antoine Cason is good...Weddle is not extremely athletic, but he's a very good tackler and decent safety.I think Darren Sproles was one of the more dangerous skill players in the league a couple years ago, but teams seem to be able to contain him easily now...although he's still a threat to break big plays.Gates is pretty much the top TE in the game and Vincent Jackson is one of the best deep threats in the game. That's pretty big right there. And their other wide receivers have a lot of the "measurables", so I think that's why everyone says that the "talent" is there, although it might be a little more "potential" than "talent."Add all of that to one of the top 5 QBs in the game and you see why everyone thinks it's an extremely talented team.
1/3/2011 3:46:31 PM
Rivers is so good he makes the defense look better.
1/3/2011 3:49:53 PM
What he said, plus a top 5 kicker, a top 5 punter, and Antonio Garay, who makes plays like thishttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Smuv32N0Bc8
1/3/2011 3:50:46 PM
I could copy and paste names from at least a dozen teams and make the exact same post jbrick just made. Excluding gates and rivers who I already mentioned were unique.[Edited on January 3, 2011 at 4:29 PM. Reason : blackberry post]
1/3/2011 4:24:10 PM
And most if not all of those dozen teams are probably in the playoffs.Though I hope Seattle wouldn't be on your "list".
1/3/2011 4:31:09 PM
Having top 12 talent is a much different argument than top 5.
1/3/2011 4:34:43 PM
On a neutral field in a one game playoff, I'd take San Diego over everyone but New England, Pittsburgh, Baltimore and New Orleans. They'd have a good chance to shit themselves like they did all year, but they'd have an equally good chance to beat anyone but those four teams, with maybe Atlanta and Philadelphia thrown in as well.
1/3/2011 4:38:37 PM
Guy who does a lot of stats on a Chargers board posted this:
1/3/2011 6:12:48 PM
more like the 2010 san diego chargers threadamirite?
1/3/2011 6:46:04 PM
Well not if were talking about some of the players in the pro bowl.Or about how whitehurst did pretty good lastnight. [Edited on January 3, 2011 at 11:05 PM. Reason : hjuki]
1/3/2011 11:02:29 PM
^ Whitehurst did pretty good at home versus a 7-9 Rams team. We're supposed to be impressed?
