Good question. The screen is cracked on mine and I'm trying to sell it before the 3G ones come out effectively lowering the value of mine significantly. One guy offered me $250 for it... wish I could have met up with him that day and got the deal done.

Usually I trust it, but I'm not sure they have enough data to know what's going on in this case. Since they didn't update yesterday, I wouldn't be surprised if it's another 6 months or so. So yeah..may, june, at the earliest would be my guess.

Where have you been marketing it? I'm just gonna put my cracked one up on ebay i guess. its only a 4gb tho so not worth as much.

^ so when the 3G one comes out you'll probably want to wait for the GPS one that will be 6 months out too

no, really the only thing holding me back at this point is lack of 3G.

More storage would be nice, but I've already managed to talk myself down to 8GB. I'm thinking they'll inevitably bump that to at least 16GB with the next rev though.

The triangulation sounds like it works well enough, it's not like i'm gonna be using this thing for in-car GPS or anything.

Just craigslist...mine is a 4gb too. $250 is the best offer I've had so far, everybody else is offering like $100 or trying to trade another phone for it and they always offer something ridiculously cheap to the point of it being almost insulting.

Anyways, yeah, I haven't really followed any on eBay with a cracked screen but let me know how it goes.

what exactly does someone do with a cracked iPhone? Get it repaired? I mean I can see a regular phone with a cracked screen, but seems like your hands are kinda tied with an iPhone. Kinda like trying to use a computer without a keyboard or mouse.

And why do these things seem to still be fetching a premium on eBay? Int'l buyers is all I can figure.

actually yes, i've pretty much got relatives or people i know in the majority of those countries. You do know the difference between the phone being sold by service providers and phones being sold in electronic stores (unlocked) right?

which means prices are high in certain countries

which means people have an incentive to buy low here and sell high there, which is why apple was (and might still be) restricting purchase quantities in the us.

no,everything is speculation.

An AT&T executive let it slip last month that yes, a 3G iphone is coming "in 2008". In other news, the sky is blue.

But any more predictions about when and what is pure speculation. I think we can be confident that the iPhone 1.0 will have at least a 9 month shelf life, putting iPhone 2 out until at least April, but more likely 12+ months, so mid-late summer more likely for the next version.

As far as features, 3G and more storage are probably your only sure bets. Likely additions could be GPS and a better camera.
