I'm pissed my forecast for Knoxville fell through. We were supposed to get the strong stuff today. 50% too.
6/29/2008 8:37:21 PM
^didn't you get a nice squall line come through last night around this time?Almost here!
6/29/2008 8:53:15 PM
^It died down as it came into the valley around 7. <50% humidity has killed several storm systems lately. Warnings were issued for the line, but it was mostly for the wind. It has only stormed 5 days in the 2 and a half months I've been working at the station. And 2 of those days the storms came from the south (the mountains). Now that's ^ a squall line! I believe lighting caused a huge fire to break out about a block away from our house. its out now. but my parents are f*ing retarded.
6/29/2008 10:04:44 PM
all I heard was loud thunder, and saw some lightening, and a tad bit of rain. I was hoping for a good long storm. that would have been fun here at work
6/29/2008 10:06:46 PM

6/29/2008 10:16:09 PM

7/4/2008 5:54:47 PM
Front is supposed to stall over there for the next couple of days. Could be dark for the weekend. I haven't seen rain in 3 weeks.
7/4/2008 6:00:18 PM
I hope they started the fireworks. Looks to be getting real in a 30 minutes or so.
7/4/2008 8:55:58 PM
it's already raining hard here in Apex for the past 5-10 minutes with heavy thunder and lightning. I'd say the fireworks tonight will be a no go.
7/4/2008 8:59:34 PM
I ALMOST left the animals I was babysitting out in the rain. Luckily, my jack bauer driving skills didn't land me in the weeds and I got to the house in record time (albeit slightly above the speed limit). These dogs don't like lightning at all, I feel like a bad parent right now. They seem to be cool though. Now that I'm back, let the storms go! Sorry about your fireworks everybody. :/Hey, tomorrow's a good day to get drunk and blow shit up, too!
7/4/2008 8:59:40 PM
Had some pea sized hail here in Apex/Cary. Shit was pouring and I've never seen the tree in my front yard bent over that much.
7/4/2008 9:06:14 PM
FUCK.its coming down in durham and i'm stuck at my house.
7/4/2008 9:07:39 PM
the emergency alert system behind me(im at a radio station) had been printing nonstop for about an hour but i have been too lazy to get up and check it
7/4/2008 9:17:43 PM
My tracker says 1.25 inch hail around Falls Lake
7/4/2008 9:34:19 PM
I like this thread better
7/5/2008 4:47:12 PM
Tdub news channel, we talk about shit when it happens then make fun of it.
7/5/2008 4:53:54 PM
Fireworks canceled again?
7/5/2008 9:00:18 PM
yo do interstates have any role in storms? my neighbor last night was like "yeah man the i-95 corridor creates big storms" or some shit like that
7/5/2008 9:04:20 PM
creates them? no.[Edited on July 5, 2008 at 9:05 PM. Reason : it might be common for them to BE there, but for other reasons]
7/5/2008 9:05:13 PM
No...not really the interstate....but there is a topographical difference that occurs right around there. From hilly to flat coastal plain. So they do form around there a lot. Also the "fall-line" is just west of Raleigh so in the winter those places may get a little colder and usually the rain snow line is right there....which is why the triangle seems to always be on the line.
7/5/2008 9:06:37 PM
I would imagine that is why it seems like there is a bubble over Raleigh that keeps the really good storms from hitting usI swear that every storm fizzles out right before it gets to Raleigh
7/5/2008 9:08:57 PM
man we gotta be getting SOMETHING soon...
7/6/2008 5:39:20 PM
naw
