hahahwell at least this thing has fallen out of the national media spotlight, thanks to lebanon being invaded.
7/28/2006 12:13:23 PM
Yeah thank God. I have relatives that are close friends with the family of the kid from NJ (live in same town). Totally fucked up situation. I hope they end up suing the crap outta that DA.
7/28/2006 1:43:00 PM
Can't sue the DA, well, you probably can but its pointless. Can however sue the stripper in civil court for defamation of character etc, etc. This however is pointless because she has no money to win. The only thing it would do is leave a large judgement hanging over her head forever. Not to mention Al Sharpton would probably pay for her legal defense even though she is a lying sack of shit poor victimized mother.

Thursday, August 3, 2006Nifong: I might quit (the committee)Poor Mike Nifong. His world is slowly shrinking. In an email message to Durham's Animal Control Advisory Committee, he said he is considering stepping down from the board because some of the other members signed the petition supporting Lewis Cheek.Did he read every one of those 10,000 names?Where'd he find the time? I thought he was supposed to be prosecuting the biggest case of his career. And what does he have in store for the other thousands on the petition sheets? Maybe a database to use in court.... "NO plea for you! You signed the Cheek petition!"Yikes.DURHAM -- District Attorney Mike Nifong might step down from a county board because some of his fellow members signed a petition in support of Lewis Cheek, whose name will appear opposite Nifong's in this fall's election.Nifong, who has been criticized for his handling of a rape case involving three members of Duke University's lacrosse team, wrote recently that he is reconsidering his role on the Animal Control Advisory Committee, an eight-member volunteer board that meets four times a year and advises the county's animal control office. In a July 28 e-mail message to his fellow board members, Nifong wrote that he "was truly dismayed at the number of my fellow board members who signed the Lewis Cheek [petition].

Fuck him - peace out, nigga!
8/3/2006 8:43:12 PM
Actually I'm thinking you might be able to get the DA - qualified immunity only goes so far, and I think there was a NC Supreme Court case that limited a prosecutor's qualified immunity. I'd have to look it up. Plus I'm sure there are probably federal civil rights charges that can be brought under Section 1983.

8 pages reviewing the files released to the public from the case (i figure it's a little long to post the whole thing). But basically it clarifies some things and debunks some of the criticisms of the DA's case. It still casts the guilt of the lacrosse players as ambiguous.http://www.nytimes.com/2006/08/25/us/25duke.html

Sheehan missed the point. The Elmo hour wasn't about justice. It was about corrupt politicians trying to intimidate an honest citizen who had the balls to tell truth. Nifong doesn't want the truth to come out about who really raped the stripper. They have the DNA evidence. It matches somebody, but that person isn't a Duke student.

coworker was telling me this morning that she heard on the radio the other stripper is recanting her statement
10/13/2006 8:50:29 AM
yeah... 60 minutes is running a piece on it Sunday night and supposedly the other stripper said it was all bullshit. That the victim didn't get raped, etc.

is this new?

Nifong has almost waited this out long enough that no one will care if nothing comes of the case

I really hope they vote his ass out in this election. I work in RTP and see the "Keep Mike" election signs and can't help but roll my eyes.

FIRE NIFONG!

Reminder, the 3 douchebags who are probably innocent will be on 60 minutes (CBS) tonight, very shortly.

Great coverage - if I were licensed in NC, I would make a motion myself to have Nifong permanently disbarred.

i wouldnt say their lives are ruined. thats going a little far dont you think[Edited on October 27, 2006 at 4:02 PM. Reason : .]
10/27/2006 3:57:25 PM
Its ironic that the black community swarms around this girl and proclaims these young mens guilt with almost no evidence and apparently hardly even any testimony from the accuser, yet with ALL the shit that went down with OJ, many still claim he is innocnent. Fucking ironic I tell ya.
10/27/2006 5:03:41 PM
^ I don't think the "black community" is really swarming around her, just as much as the "white community" is swarming around the LaCrosse players. There's probably people on both sides that support who they support for racial reasons, then there's other people who weigh the evidence.
10/27/2006 5:07:44 PM
I drive a Buick LaCrosse sometimes when I go to lacrosse games in La Crosse, the eponymous city to the sport of baggataway.[Edited on October 27, 2006 at 5:28 PM. Reason : people who don't like to consume it are lacrose intolerant]
10/27/2006 5:26:59 PM
^^^That's a pretty stupid generalization. While there is a tendency take the black person's side in a dispute with racial undertones, many blacks do look at things objectively. I know plenty of black people who think OJ is guilty. This case is no different.

If the dancer is lying, here's why I think she did it:This woman has had issues with the law before. She was even in a police chase at one point. Anyway, she finds herself being questioned by a security guard outside a store, and she's extremely fucked up. He calls the police, and the police start to take her to a mental health facility, which she makes up a story to avoid, a story of a rape. She's fucked up, worried about losing her child, and she says the first thing that comes to her mind that could garner her sympathy and explain her behavior so she doesn't have to go away. She never intended to identify anybody, and even in her identification, she made it clear she was confused. From the beginning, I've objected to this notion that she was lying to get attention or money.
10/27/2006 7:39:15 PM
So let's say that is the case Bridget. What do you think would be the proper legal course of action? I mean, should she be held accountable, or should she be given mental health help and let go?There isn't a wrong answer here, I'm wondering your own opinion on it.
10/27/2006 7:49:09 PM
1. I think mental health help is being held accountable in many circumstances.2. I'd need to know more details about this situation to create an opinion on what should happen to her.
10/27/2006 7:54:26 PM
^I agree with you on both points, I didn't mean the "held accountable" to sound the way it came off there.
10/27/2006 7:55:52 PM
Well now you might not see as many. But you remember after this happened that the black churches and NAACP were both holding rallies around her saying this was some rich white kids taking advantage of a poor black girl? That sorta thing is what I meant. Your right, you don't see much support from them anymore.

10/28/2006 3:49:26 PM
Look at this motherfucker! Currently, Mike Nifuck is the most ridiculous creature of which I am aware.
10/28/2006 3:57:42 PM
PS: When Kobe Bryant was accused of rape, which I said was total bullshit from the beginning, did the Lakers cancel the season? Where do the lacrosse players go to get last season back? Where does the winning lacrosse coach who was fired go to get his Duke job back? Where do the falsely accused young men go to get their reputations back? Any woman who lies about being sexually assaulted should have a special place reserved for her in Hell.Oh, and fuck nervous Nellie Brodhead, too. I'm sick of all these motherfuckers!
