^ I dislike the 2.50 bet on the flop. With four others and a flop like that with two high cards (10+), someone is bound to have hit that flop, and a pot sized bet isn't going to chase them out with high pair and a decent kicker. Plus there are still hands that are still better drawing hands than yours. Betting out the flop also puts you in a position to almost have to bet the turn and river no matter if you hit your draw or not, which is a position I don't like being in. Pretty much, you over played the draw you had on the flop and while you hit your straight the other guy got luckier on the river.

Okay Joey. Name a time and a place and we'll have our "showdown".The buy-in is up to you. I've got deep pockets, so name it. Who's playing w/ you? Brandi is sitting out of this one.

This is fucking stupid....The freeroll tournaments are a nice way for new players like me to get a little experience before putting money on the table. As someone who took these tourneys too seriously, I know generally there's a considerable gap between us freerollers and money players. I sure as hell don't have any money to lose, and even if I did I'd still be hesitant on a buy-in over $20. Hell, even a $10 would make me think twice.Joey, forkgirl is a solid poker player and has made a good chunk of change from it. Don't go there. You're dealing with players that play for hundreds of dollars on a weekly basis, if not more. We ain't in their league, hell I only read this thread so I can learn something.LimpyNuts, you're right, end of story. No need to provoke this further. Most importantly, stop this crap about organizing a 4v4 match. It's beyond childish, and if one side gets lucky there will be no end to this stupid debacle. Let this family feud die. If you guys want get pissy go bareknuckle box outside of harrelson. Then at least I can sell tickets and up my non-existent bankroll.
4/24/2005 2:03:50 AM
bought in tonight with $5, left with ~$100

^^ Ditto. Forkgirl is a very solid poker player... Watching her win that WPC tourney (i.e. beating Barb Enright heads up) was pretty amazing.

this has gotten pretty stupidwho the hell takes this whole site so seriously anywayi mean really, the comments i made were only meant to get a rise out of amelianot spark a damn trojan war or something. heres the whole pointthis is all just a gamepoker is a game, its a fun game. but doing stuff like sitting at a table for one hand to get an extra entry in a raffle for inexpensive chips is not poker. deciding to walk in and go all in on the first hand before you even get your chips or fill the table is not real poker. yes, amelia, you would be totally justified to go all in on a hand if you were playing it, but it wasnt the casebrandi, i never once said i was the best poker player, all i merely claim is that i am improving from how i used to be. it doesnt mean im any better than anyone, it merely means im better than i used to be. thats all. never once did i insult you or attack you, and instead you and karim get highly dramatic when i play a hand i want to take a risk on and actually hit. its called sore losing. that is poker. yes, i hae risked a lot of money on 6 8 off before, and who knows, if i want to I may do it again. neither of you can truely say that you havent risked a lot on a medioker or slacking hand. this drama has gone way too far, and this has obviously divided many people. its just rediculous. amelia, youre not the worlds best poker player, neither is kim, neither is brandi or karim. it is a free poker tournament and its for fun. because its free we can try different things. karim you may think im the worlds worst player just because i had the balls to see something out, wether or not i lost money. thats real poker, taking a real chance. you have 'deep' pockets i dont. i had the balls to risk all of my money and i wont, big deal, thats poker so get over itim not afraid of you one bit karim, you will win some, and you will lose some, just as i will. the only difference is, you have 2 players in your corner, you and brandi. when you lose, she folds to you, when she loses, she 'borrows' chips from you. andrew, you have no idea about anything youre talking about. i am sure youre just the worlds greatest poker prodigy, just out there to get a rise out of poeple like me. all of you tight asses can just get over yourself, its poker, its fun, its just moneyget over it
4/25/2005 1:43:57 AM

[/slap fight]Seriously, everybody chill out, realize you're arguing over nothing, and give it a rest. Every poker player should know something about humility considering we've all been dealt absolutely horrid beat, and been kicked while we're down as a result.Bury the proverbial hatchet and let this BS die.
4/25/2005 1:34:30 PM
Joey--Please hon. You are so not making any sense. Everything you say is a contradiction or a spelling or grammatical error. If you're going to fight back, you can at least make sense and try to be eloquent about it. And don't say things have gotten pretty stupid when your first comment in this thread dripped with jealousy and idiocy. And what's w/ this "It's all just a game" commentary? I mean... if it was all just a game to you, you wouldn't have gotten in this thread in the first place pouting b/c the “lady” you want to bang made a bad call and lost her chips.Joey-- You don't have to say that you're the best player. You imply it all the time and then sometimes you get lucky... But most of the time, I just take your chips. How much have you given me now? Also... to tell you the truth... I don't hang in on MEDIOCRE hands when there are two over cards on the board and I have absolutely NOTHING but runner runner to a straight. Call me crazy but that's just not how I play poker. Never EVER compare me to your shitty calls. That is the worst insult I have ever received from a "poker player."Also-- For the longest time you were im'ing Karim and I "OMG I GOT 4th at The Cantina tonight!!" Why feel the need to validate yourself? And wasn't it obvious that we didn't care then either? And actually Joey... this drama hasn't divided anyone. Sean was always only after Sean's own good. And Amelia, Andrew, Karim and I were always pals. Who's on the outside here?REAL poker is knowing when you're making ridiculous calls over and over again (and choosing not to pull that shit). You wouldn't know real poker if someone took 600 dollars (I <3 you b00) from you and your friends over the past 4 months on 5 dollar buy-ins.And for God's sake... How many times do we have to discuss this? When you say "borrow" chips-- you're incorrect. I take 1 or 2 of his dollar chips and put them on my stack until I win a hand or until he needs them. Stop pouting just b/c you rarely hang on to your dollar chips long enough to let someone borrow them. Andrew knows exactly what he is talking about. It must feel pretty shitty when everyone in this thread is calling you out and there is no ally in sight.AND btw EriosUmm... Who are you and why do you care?

on the previous page there were some programs that most of you use, but I wanted to know what the most popular ones you use to play online areand i'm sure it's buried somewhere in 25 pages of this thread, but I really didn't want to sit here and read it all.I saw:PartyPokerParadise PokerPacific PokerBugsy ClubUltimate Betare there any others? Any better ones? Which out of those are your favorites?
4/25/2005 2:36:25 PM
on party poker.com i lost a $10 hand yesterday. I had a K(sp) and a (6sp). On the flop two more spades appeared so i started betting. The fifth spade didn't come to the river but by then the pot was up to $12. me and the other guy continued to raise each other's bid. i finally called his bet with the pot up to like ~ $25. of course he happens a flush w/ a A(sp) and i lose
4/25/2005 2:41:18 PM
I can see that quite a few people are a bit pissed off in the matter.I have stirred the pot for way to long in the matter, and I am gonna let things die. Brandi, Karim, Andrew, TJ, everyone else who doesnt care for what I think, I would suggest letting it go too. Amelia's strategy is to shake the table a bit, to play her game while taking everyone out of theirs. I have done just the same in here. Is what I said or did wrong? I decided I was going to do something before it even got started, and it was accepted oh so well in the thread. That has been my point all along. Brandi, you really dont know what youre talking about at all. Excuse the gramatical errors, I didnt know that anyone was grading the thread. I guess I will have to retake an english class or two.In response to you oh queen of poker
4/25/2005 2:52:16 PM
OK, I am never one to come on TWW and be a badass or boastful. And i rarely call anyone out. Joey I kept my comments strictly to poker but now you want to take personal shots at me, which is fine by me. People hide their weakness behind the computer screen because it is easy to do so. My gloves are off now. I was being nice, but you fucked up now. Lets start here. How much have I won in the past 4 months off of just $5 buy in games? Any guesses?Btw since we are taking shots at each other, how about that time you were all over JoyChick at poker at sean's when she she had a bf and not to mention when she just had her clit pierced, you were all about it and you gave her chips after chips, you were whipped and she wasnt even interested. So dont give me any of this giving away chips BS, we always bought back in the rare instances when we werent taking your money. Joey, dont try to backtrack, what you were doing was not a bluff, you were calling all the way, it was the worst fucking hand ive ever seen, and i'd say that even if i wasnt on the receiving end. You are more trash for being so dillusional that you rationalized the hand as being well played. Please keep playing like that, please do. Especially in money games. You will make all of us in this thread happy.I used to try to help you out with your game, but it was hopeless and this proves it.

Drovkin, I like party poker and empire the best because they usually have 20% reload bonuses from $100-$200 each month where you get $1 for every 7 raked hands you play and you can play four tables at once for each site. These two sites have lots of poor players and you can always get a ring game or a tournament whatever time of the day. PM me if you need a referral name.
4/25/2005 7:11:50 PM
I would also like to point out a few flaws in this 4 on 4 thing you guys are considering.1. Odds are one group is going to have some system of cheating, whether it be hand signals, verbal, etc.... team poker is just not a good idea.2. You guys obviously have deeper issues than just poker. The game will probably result in a fistfight, which really isn't good.3. One game of poker doesn't solve anything. As some of you have pointed out, people can get lucky and win sometimes via ridiculous calls and bad beats. Hey, it happens. I am surprised that anyone would take this "one night, all out" poker match. Maybe you guys should get a steel cage and make it a coffin match too? In all seriousness, this thread is starting to sound like a cross between Monday Night Raw and the Jerry Springer Show. Odds are, the group with the guy who doesn't call down with 68 would win by a landslide, but crazier things have happened. (I have lost track of who is who now.... not a big issue). But let's be honest, if you're a good player you know it. Just leave it at that.

vnh... ive yet to get a royal flush... i lost to one one night... i had a boat, aces full of queens. they flip over the royal flush and i lost a good amount of money.wasnt the most money ive lost in a hand, but, i think it was the worst beat i may have had. I thought for sure i had won.

that was my first, wanted to share! wish it was both cards of course, but hey, i will take it.
4/27/2005 10:34:24 AM
i've witnessed an occasional 4-of a kind but never a straight/royal flush
4/27/2005 10:55:27 AM
You would think that 4 of a kind was rare, but it's really not that rare. I have hit it probably 10 times or more online, as well as about 5 in real life. I've seen a lot of other people hit it too.

With his cold call of $30 on the flop I'm 90% sure he had a set of 8's or 9's. I also did have Gametime+ running with about 450 hands for him, so I knew he was a solid player(the decision would have been harder if there was a chance he was a maniac). There's maybe a 5% chance that he had 6-7, and hit the straight on the turn. Then of course maybe he had QQ/JJ/AA and stole the pot from me(the original raiser said he folded KK). Not really that tough of a fold considering how sure I was that I was beat and how much money I had to lose.I didn't mean to run out of time like that, I never really had any intention of calling(I checked the turn btw). His play in this hand just made no sense to me, and it earned him a call. The previous hand was certainly on my mind, maybe that means I was on tilt a little in the sense that it affected my call. I certainly wasn't gunning for him because I thought he bluffed me earlier.Kings made no sense to me since he limped in late position, and it was very unlikely that he had tried to buy the pot on the flop and then hit a set of 10's. So basically in my mind I had to decide if he had 6's or not. So I get to thinking that if he does have a set, why in the world would he play it like that. I told him that I folded 33 the hand before, so he knows I'm a tight player and there's no way he'll get me to call with less than a set given that board. I also smooth called the flop, so he prolly thinks I don't have a set.. a flush draw or top pair would make much more senseSo I decide that he probably has two pair or maybe AK, and that's he's either protecting his hand or just being a dick because he's 99% sure I won't call and he's rubbing the previous hand in my face. There wasn't a lot of money in the pot, so I certainly did consider folding even after making this deduction. But I really thought I had caught him with his hand in the cookie jar, and that there was no way he thought I had a set given the way the hand had gone, so I went for it.The kings truly surprised me, I thought it would be 66 if I was going to lose. Regardless, if you look at the hand from his perspective he limped with kings late and made the stone nuts that held through the turn. There was no real money in the pot, but he pushed in for ~$170 against an opponent that he knows will only possibly call with one of two hands(55 or 66). That play still completely baffles me, but hey it worked.Looking back, I think he thought I was on tilt a lot more than I was. I had told him about folding the 33 a few hands ago, but didn't really harp on it or anything. I guess he figured since I had made a big laydown to him once, I would possibly call with 1 or 2 pairs if he pushed there.[Edited on April 27, 2005 at 11:26 PM. Reason : .]

I assume he's betting on the 10's or J and i got a fair shot of catching the straight for only $.25. On the turn a Q(s) appears. I'm set to go, i bet .50 cents. He raises to $1 i Call. The river comes and it is a 5(s). I bet a $1. He raises me to $2. I'm already down to $4 left so I just go all in. Turns out he had K and 9 thus the higher straight. I was playing the other day with an absolute moron. We all know the type. Calls anything preflop, won't lay down a draw....Well anyways, I get 10 10 and raise to like $4 (.50 BB table). I get 2 callers, one of them being said idiot. So the flop comes Q22. At this point I am slightly paralyzed, considering a 2 or a Q now beats me. They check to me, so I check too. The next card is a 6. Once again it is checked to me, so I figure I'll test the waters to see if my 10's are any good. I throw $10 out, which is roughly the pot, and get 2 calls. At this point I know I am beat... someone either has the Q or a 2... maybe even pocket 6's. Well, wouldn't you know, the the river comes and I hit my 10. So now I have 10's over 2's, a really solid hand, especially considering my competition.Well, the first guy bets, the second (the idiot) goes all-in. I figure the first guy is on AQ, KQ, something like that, and that the idiot was playing A2.... something with a 2. Well of course I call the all-in, and so does the initial raiser. As it turns out, the first guy did have AQ, but the idiot had pocket 2's. So for the second time in my life, I lost to quads when I had a great boat. I hate so bad when retards get lucky.

so he flopped quads and hes a retard for taking all that money?

No he was just a retard in general. It's not hard to play a hand when you flop something as unbeatable as quads. It's just insanely frustrating when you wait for a great hand against a guy who has been playing like an incredible retard the whole night, and he just happens to have a better hand.
