Has anyone had an issue with their keyboard completely disappearing? It doesn't show up in sms, email, safari, or any of the apps.Checked all in settings and everything looks normal. I tried soft reboot and a hard reset. Still no KB. Googled it and I've seen others with this issue but none of the responses offer a fix. I'd like to avoid a factory reset and restore because I am not sure if this lady has it backed up and there are work apps on it.

^ serious question: isn't there an app like android's titanium backup or my backup that will take care of backing up everything (apps, data, settings, etc)?
11/15/2012 8:38:11 AM
iCloud, it's built in. Its under settings, you can choose what you want to back up and when.
11/15/2012 9:12:46 AM
anyone have an app recommendation to automatically upload camera roll in full resolution to other services (picasa, skydrive, etc...)?
11/15/2012 10:43:04 AM
If you're inside the Apple "ecosystem", iCloud is a good option, automatically syncs to my iPad and Macbook, can even be publically viewable if you want, but if your PC is something other than Mac, another option might be better.
11/15/2012 11:27:54 AM
I'm not in the apple ecosystem, but I want automatic uploading of full-resolution pictures. Searching the app-store shows various options but they typically have mixed reviews. I'm hoping for a recommendation.
11/15/2012 11:50:28 AM
my parents and sister just got iphone5they love themi am still anti apple
11/15/2012 11:57:47 AM
Yeah I'm now Apple free. Finally. Both my parents love them though and I recommend Apple to old people.
11/15/2012 1:15:13 PM
Do these automatically run, or do you have to launch them to work. I cant find that.
11/15/2012 1:24:09 PM
Unless you use iCloud, you will need to launch the app to start the upload.
11/15/2012 2:39:21 PM
There's an iCloud app for Windows that will automatically download the pics at full resolution. It's what I used when I had my iPhone and one of the things I miss most with Android.

http://bensbargains.net/deal/armor-case-for-iphone-5-w-stand-3-99-at-handhelditems-280957/I picked up 2 of these the other day. I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I do. It's fairly bulky, but not unreasonably so. I definitely prefer this to something like an otter box and I think it would provide almost as much protection. For $4, you can't really beat them.]
11/16/2012 8:30:31 AM
That's horrid. I can't stand people with iPhones and ugly ass cases.
11/16/2012 9:21:27 AM
Agreed! That bitch is huge. I hate otter box like case. Slim case for the win. Case are like condoms...the thinner the better!
11/16/2012 9:48:09 AM
I pretty much so hate all cases, and 95 % of the time I don't have one on, but in the times I do, I figure it might as well protect the phone from being dropped. That case isn't anywhere near as big or as ugly as an otterbox. Then again, I could post a link to the best looking case made that was free and I'd probably still get a handful of douchebags trying to troll. I guess that's what I get for trying to pass a good deal onto tww. ]
11/16/2012 12:29:02 PM
I like my free Zoogue case.
11/16/2012 3:11:45 PM
This shit is ridiculous! Verizon LTE FTW!
11/20/2012 9:47:41 PM
yeah i've turned off wifi on my phone unless to print my (att) lte is still faster than my road runner turbo.
11/21/2012 9:32:34 AM
My 5 gets a data problem occasionally. It'll show LTE, but no data actually goes through. The loading indicator will go in circles indefinitely, but no webpages will ever load (same with stocks/weather/etc). Switching airplane on/off doesn't fix it, I HAVE to restart the phone, but then it's business as usual - fast responsive LTE.This is on AT&T btw.
11/21/2012 10:25:20 AM
Just got an iPhone 5, switching from a Droid Bionic.First impressions:I think i will miss SwypeReception on phone calls is generally worse (choppy sound from my apt. where Bionic was clear)Android handles contacts better it seems (I have literally 8 different entries for my own name on iOS, i'm not sure why)iOS SMS app is missing important features (more detailed time stamps, contact pictures-- it's too easy to text the wrong person)Sucks to have to connect it to my laptop to load new ringtonesThe screen on the 5 is better in every wayspeech-to-text seems more reliablenavigation is actually nicer on iOS (assuming you trust the maps)bluetooth audio integration is betterI prefer the smaller size of the iPhone to the bionicExchange integration is better than the Bionic

http://www.tuaw.com/2012/11/21/atandt-bringing-facetime-over-cellular-calls-to-all-customers/Looks like AT&T may be allowing FaceTime over cellular for all customers soon. I just checked and my phone now can do it on my grandfathered unlimited data plan.

11/21/2012 12:12:45 PM
seriously, who makes a device and software that blows away everything on the device simply for plugging it into a different computer. That's the dumbest and most retarded idea ever. Guess that must be part of the "most easy thing to use ever!!!" schtick Apple has going for it, though.
11/23/2012 11:36:18 PM
Your description is missing a few important steps, like choosing to manually syncing the phone and saying "ok" when it asks you if it's acceptable to wipe the phone.
11/24/2012 11:14:20 AM
As much as it pains me to agree with an obvious troll while he's doing his obvious trolling, he's not wrong for once. I've deleted contacts, songs, apps and ebooks before completely by accident on several occasions simply by plugging my phone into the wrong computer to charge or assuming that iTunes would be smart enough to merge data instead of overwriting content with nothingness for the sake of making both libraries the same. iTunes is set up to sync new devices by default and a lot of times that means just blowing away what's there for seemingly no good reason and with little to no warning. Obviously I do enjoy Apple and most of the products the put out but iTunes is easily the biggest piece of shit they've ever made by a wide margin.]
11/24/2012 1:12:17 PM
^ QuickTime says hi.
11/25/2012 10:38:54 AM
yep, I have always hated iTunes, to the point that it really hampers my getting the most out of my devices, and would preclude me from buying an iPod strictly as a media player (if I didn't already have an iPhone and was in the market for a media player).Just last night, I fucked up when transferring all the stuff from my 4 to my MBA to my 5. I ended up accidentally deleting all the pictures/contacts/texts/etc accumulated on my new phone (5) over the last month since I bought it.
11/25/2012 10:53:31 AM
I'm glad I'm not the only one, I own a lot of things apple, but I never have and don't really see myself ever using ITunes. It's a bit silly to have a music player, a video player, a store, a device manager, a library manager, and everything else that ITunes tries to be in a single application.
11/25/2012 12:08:06 PM
idk if this has been posted in here already, or if you folks already knew this, but i found out today so i thought i'd pass it along just in case. with ios6, you can search in page in safari & upload images to CMS & other sites (incl tww).
11/25/2012 9:40:46 PM
my iPhone 5 will be here Weds. Just ordered some accessories from Amazon. Went with the 32 gig phone since i was starting to have some memory issues with my 4S which is 16 gig. I don't know why but I'm not super excited about this phone. I may be more excited once it gets here. I really like the size of my 4S and i'm not sure i'm going to like the bigger 5. Plus I have a lot of accessories that use the old 30 pin connector and now i'll have to use an adapter for the lightning connector. We'll see though.
11/26/2012 8:49:42 AM
I've been looking for a decent dock (or really any dock) for the iPhone 5 ever since it came out. I ran across this on dx.com and ordered one 3 weeks ago. I also ordered an el cheapo cable with it just to see if it worked. They both arrived today, and from initial testing they appear to work just fine. The cable worked in my car, plugged into my MBA, and in a regular USB wall adapter. The dock also seems to work as expected, but is on the light side of things. Still, it's worlds better than having it lay on my bedside table, and I will finally be able to go back to not being jarred awake every morning by my phone vibrating against the wooden table.Anyway, if anybody's looking for some cheap lightning cables, or a dock, I can at least verify those will work properly.
11/27/2012 2:18:04 PM
I assume you have seen this since you're a kickstarter guy, but this one looks pretty sweet.http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/dockplus/charging-dock-for-iphone-5Won't actually release until march though, which sucks.
11/27/2012 3:38:58 PM
Nah, actually I hadn't saw that yet. Looks pretty good, and not unbelievably overpriced for the quality. Especially when you factor in that you get to reclaim a lightning cable to put to use elsewhere. I'm gonna try this cheap one out for a few days to see if I can live with it, but I will definitely keep that one in mind.
11/27/2012 4:06:35 PM
^^ that looks awesome. Right now I'm using an LG idevice portable radio on my nightstand to charge my iPhone 4S. It also serves as my alarm clock. i'm hoping the the el cheapo 30 pin to lighting adapter i ordered from Amazon works with the case I ordered. I don't want to take the case off every night. From the pictures it looks like I should be ok. i'll report back. the iPhone 5 comes in today.
11/28/2012 8:28:41 AM
Yeah, one night with that crappy dock, and I backed that kickstarter project.
11/28/2012 12:52:22 PM
i would have backed the raw steel version. i dont really like the black/white variants.
11/28/2012 1:04:20 PM
i like the black version and should match the black iPhone well. the raw steel isn't worth the extra $30 for a clear coated steel block IMO.
11/28/2012 1:58:59 PM
picked up my iPhone5 yesterday. transitioning my number from my 4S to the 5 was very easy and setting up the 5 using iTunes backup/restore was also very straight forward with no issues. The Lighting to 30pin adapter works very well on my LG iRadio even with the slim case I have so that's good news but it looks a bit funny. I'm a little concerned about the life of the adapter being used in this configuration as there is a good amount of torque being applied to the connectors due to the added height. I'm thinking about making a custom base that hides the adapter and will also support the phone better when docked.
11/29/2012 9:20:17 AM
Sorry if this has been asked before but has anyone seen a drop in battery life when comparing the 5 to the Iphone4? Seems like this one dies a quick death with the same settings as on my iphone4
11/29/2012 10:04:42 PM
who all here has added a line? Basically I want to add a line and get the 5 and get my insurance back since I will have a 5. My mother will get my 4S which is only a month old and in great condition. She will be on my "family line". She will buy me the I phone 5 as my christmas gift and throw in 30 a month for her phone etc. Sounds good to me, what do yall think?
11/30/2012 1:17:52 AM
^^quite the contrary for me. I went from the 4 to the 5 and have noticed a significant improvement in battery life. I used to be down to ~15% after a normal day's use with the 4, now I'm going 2 days b/t full charging cycles. Of course, a lot of that probably has to do with the gradual deterioration of the 4's battery, but it's still a nice change![Edited on November 30, 2012 at 8:52 AM. Reason : .]
11/30/2012 8:43:56 AM
^^ i just did this. my son is getting to the age where he can use having a phone. additionally i accidently fucked up his ipod touch so for his birthday he is getting my 4S and I got the 5. It's very simple to do. call up your carrier, in my case verizon. add a line and get the iphone 5. when it comes in go straight to the carrier store, activate the phone and have them switch the numbers attached to the devices. profit!

just got an iPhone 5, anyone know what the case is that's kind of like a wallet for it? I've seen it a few times but haven't found it.
12/6/2012 11:30:44 AM
Just got my Grove case, looks even better than I imagined, very slim and sleekhttp://www.grovemade.com
12/6/2012 1:42:45 PM
^^i've seen a lot of them on etsy. you could try there.
12/6/2012 3:26:33 PM
i'm looking for a clear case for my iphone 5. i want one that has a raised lip so that i can sit the phone down on the screen and it won't come into contact with the surface. any ideas?most of the ones i've found online don't have the raised lip
12/12/2012 8:55:14 PM
I know people like ugly, but those rubber/plastic bumpers that Apple put out to address the signal issue on the original 4 were amazing as minimalist cases (no surprises there). wish they would roll them out for the 5. applecare+ is my case otherwise.
12/12/2012 8:58:36 PM
So it's coming up on a month since I purchased, should I get AppleCare/squaretrade or not?
