I doing a case plus AppleCare+ in the off chance that third drop or liquid accident happens before I can upgrade without penalty. since I dropped and shattered in a week of having it + a toddler I can see my luck panning out that way.

Don't know what route I'm going to go with the iphone cases. I found a ridiculously slim case for my Samsung Galaxy and you could barely tell it was a case and it somehow protected my phone from 2+ plus years of many drops.

I understand that...but once you've purchased, I don't think the majority of people care what their phone looks like so much that it inhibits them from purchasing a case. Its more of a "do I want a larger, heavier, clunkier phone in my pocket/purse."

The feel of the phone when it's naked as opposed to having it in a case > what it looks like in/out of a case

I'm still stunned that it's been 2 1/2 weeks now and you still can't buy a dock for the iPhone 5. Apple scrapped plans to make their own, and haven't allowed 3rd parties to start making/selling accessories yet. After 5 years of using the same dock for my phone, it really sucks having to use a regular cable and lay the phone flat. I also really hate the jarring sensation of being woken up by the phone vibrating on my nightstand, and this morning it walked off my stand and fell on the floor. All minor annoyances aside, I'm just amazed Apple dropped the ball on not having a million overpriced accessories on sale for the launch of their new flagship device.

ordering for pickup at the apple store is done either through the apple store app, or on their website.

I've been trying for over a week too. Monday night I signed in at 10:00PM on the dot... not available. Tried again at 10:01... not available. Again at 10:02... "IN STOCK" yay! But just in the time it took to enter in my credit card info, they were wiped out. So same thing last night, at 10:02 they were in stock and I was a lot faster with my credit card info and was successful. Dude at the apple store said the whole shipment was "sold" before it even arrived.

The "status symbol" is not a valid argument anymore, they're the most mainstream phone on the planet. You could argue conformity or something like that, but when kids and broke ass folks have them you can't argue status symbol or elitist.

No they aren't. Maybe the most mainstream SMARTPHONE, but iPhones account for less than 10% of global mobile phone sales, and less than 25% of global smartphone sales.

Samsung and Nokia each move more than 2.5x what Apple does per quarter.

So does anybody else's phone freeze up (I think I've only seen it after a phone call ends) where you can't press any buttons on the screen? I can lock it then unlock and it works fine but its slightly inconvenient. I thought I had another problem but I can't remember right now..

recently when I swipe down to read a text I just received, there's been like a 5 second delay before the text appears. First world problems and all, but that shit is annoying.

Just got my 5 yesterday and have a few issues with typing.

Sometimes when I'm switching between alpha and numeric it hangs and I have to hit the "123" key a few times before it responds. When typing sometimes it will add extra spaces when I have not hit the space bar at all. I've watched this closely and know for a fact I'm not hitting the space bar and it adds spaces. Also when I hit the back key to fix the extra space it sometimes will back all the way deleting all my text.

Oh yeah, my other problem is the home button.. I push it and it doesn't do shit, so I push it again a few seconds later and it registers at a double click and pulls up the recent apps.. I don't know if its a iOS thing or hardware thing or if I need to talk to somebody or what

mine will do this if i open and close apps quickly, like if i open up the wrong one and try to exit and open another one. not often, but i've noticed it a couple times. I just did a soft reset on the phone and it hasn't happened since.

my five has a slight rattle if i tap it near the bottom left corner. like if i am closing apps and i am tapping in the bottom left it's like the headphone jack has a rattle to it or something.

mine rattles at the top. this has been reported to be the camera lens and completely normal.

not sure about the bottom

Got mine on launch day and it had that rattle/loose feeling in the bottom left corner of the screen. Almost like the screen was clicking if you pressed on it.

I just checked again and it seems to be gone.


I've been caseless (and super careful) since getting it, and I already have a couple decent-sized gashes on the aluminum band. Not that I'm too worried about it, but damn aluminum is soft!

I still haven't got an iphone (nor decided on getting one, waiting for the new Nexus devices and WP8 reviews first)

I ordered a 2 of those free cases from pages back and if I get an iphone I'll probably use one of those for a while, but honestly I'm not bothered much by scratches on electronics as long as it's not the screen.
