Any idea what the value of a Sig Sauer Custom Shop P220 SAS DAK would be?

I don't know anything about Sigs but a guy wants to trade my XDM and Burris fastfire III (around $800 value on the low side). I want a nicer gun, something metal, don't care about carrying or capacity (don't want a 1911 though).

i don't think i'd want the DAK for a range gun. sig's regular trigger is great and can be even better with the addition of an SRT kit.

but why not a 1911?

That is my concern as well, if it was DA/SA I would be all over it.

No 1911 because I have already been there, done that and I just wasn't a fan. Love the looks of them but they just don't do it for me. And if I want to shoot one my dad has a Colt Gold Cup that is far nicer than one I would but.

Anyone owned a DPMS Rifle? I've been thinking about picking up the Mk12 for shits and giggles, but their quality seems to be spotty if you believe everything you read on the internet.

I would do a mega build any day before buying a dmps. Or I would just buy the M&P-10. Those are supposed to be pretty solid and at a real good price point.

I wouldn't buy a Taurus if I had a huge discount on them because I don't like shitty pistols. That is how I see buying a DPMS just because you have a discount. Even though the DPMS cost more typically than the M&P I would buy the M&P at a higher price point knowing I was getting a better gun and I don't even have the Freedom Group hatred that NRR possesses.

I get that argument. But, I look at all the incidentals too. I could pick up a scope and quite a bit of ammo and still be under something like the M&P10. This wouldn't be nothing more than a toy to go mess around with.

Anyone file an insurance claim on stolen guns? Do I use MSRP for the value of the guns and accessories, or just what I paid ( I no longer have receipts)? Is it worth going through insurance? I have a $1000 deductable, but they stole around $2000-2300 worth of guns, so at least I'd get something back.

Opinions?

I would do msrp since without a receipt you can't prove you paid more/less. It isn't necessarily what you paid but what the gun is worth. Might as well file for the higher price and hope for the best.

i had several guns stolen when my house was broken into a few years ago. you need to claim the replacement value, not what you paid, and not necessarily MSRP. claim whatever it would cost you to go out and buy whatever you had with whatever accessories were on it. if you go insanely high, the insurance company will notice it and they will tell you what it's worth. it's easier to be truthful on the values so they're more likely to just pay out what you ask for.

you also should check into your policy's max payout for firearms. the renter's policy i had at the time only covered a certain amount under the normal policy. the total value of all my guns was way over that max, so i had a rider on my policy where i scheduled my firearms and told the insurance company how much coverage i wanted on each firearm (replacement value). you pay some percentage of that replacement value annually. my wife's engagement ring has the same deal. the cool thing about the rider is it covers everything. if i drop a rifle out of a deer stand and bust the scope, it's covered. if i leave it propped up against the truck and run it over, it's covered.

but i would definitely claim the loss. that's why you pay for insurance.

4 of the 6 firearms stolen from me were found in a pawn shop by the sheriff's dept. i had to pay the insurance company back from those. i actually got restitution from the perp that covered my deductibles.

I need to be talked out of the thought of getting a Lee progressive press. I want to get something to reload handgun ammo faster as it is a complete chore to do on my single stage. I could get the Lee turret and it would speed things up a decent amount, especially not having to hand prime each round but then I can get a Lee progressive at basically the same price point. The voice in the back of my head says this is a terrible idea and I will want to throw the thing in the garbage because it is bound to screw up on me an really piss me off. I don't feel like I shoot enough to justify a Dillon though.

My other thought is to forgo another press altogether and get the safety prime feed system for my Lee single stage and a nice powder measure (right now I have the RCBS Chargemaster that, while awesome, is incredibly slow for things I don't care about being super precise with).

Depends on if your policy is for actual cash value or full replacement value (preferable). If the latter, then I'd claim MSRP unless the market value is higher (like when gun prices were full-retard a little while back.)

^^how many different handgun calibers are you trying to load? if it's just one, then i'd suggest the Dillon Square Deal B. that thing will slap crank out some handgun ammo and it's not terribly expensive.

the Lee progressives are aggravating as hell. if you prefer to spend a little more and get a high quality product, then i suggest you stay away from them.

Only reload .45 and 9 right now, want to load .357 mag at some point. The only big hesitation I have about that Dillon is that I might want to use it for .223 and if I am spending that kind of coin I might as well get the next model that could do everything.

I will stay away from the Lee progressive, I hate buying cheap crap but at this point in time I can't justify anything that pricey. Been spending too much money on our new house. Might just wait and get the other Dillion in a year or so.

yeah, sounds like you need to save up and get a 550B. i load 9mm, .45 ACP, and .223 on mine.

it'll do 400 rds/hr not even trying. can go faster.

you could get an RCBS Uniflow powder measure and significantly speed up your handgun loading. i do 30 carbine, 44 mag, some .223, and .30-06 Garand blasting ammo with my Uniflow and i don't feel like it's too terribly slow for a batch of 50 or 100 rds.

Got my new reloading bench. Think I am going to stick with bolting the press to the piece of wood and clamping that to the bench so I don't drill into my nice new bench. Also like the ability to move stuff around.

Very, very nice! I could not love my USP any more than I do.

I recently purchased a Nebo Protec Elite laser/light combo for my USP. I've read mixed things about them, but since the price was dirt cheap I figured I'd roll the dice. Just a word to anyone else who might be considering one of these products: DON'T. While the quality of the laser and light individually might appear to be OK, the spring-loaded mounting system for attaching the unit to the rail is crap. It could be knocked completely off with very little effort, and that automatically means that I won't be having it on my firearm. Back to the hunt for a reasonably priced laser/light unit.

Just a heads-up for those of you plink with 22's, winchester has a couple lots of m22 that possibly had double-loaded powder charges. Googlez it and call them directly, sounds like their CS support is pretty good.

As far as calibers go, I like to have an assortment, not everything consolidated. I like to keep some stuff in military calibers for bulk availability, and others in oddball/boutique calibers. I have 9mm, 45 ACP, .380 Auto, .22LR, 5.56 NATO, and 6.5 Creedmoor. I want to get either a lightweight bolt-action in something like .260/7mm-08/.25-06, etc...or build an AR in Grendel/WSSM/6.8 SPC.

I just don't see the point in the grip safety, more so in the XDM vs 1911. The 1911 being thicker makes it far easier to depress whereas the XD is skinny and if you aren't gripping the gun properly in a high stress situation you might not have it pressed down all the way and that could make all the difference in the world.

If that is what you commonly use and are used to then I doubt it would be an issue but with all of my other guns not having the grip safety I would rather not deal with something that is unnecessary and would only likely cause issues for me. I feel the same way about any external safety for that matter with the exception of trigger safeties and safeties on long guns. The only pistol I have with an external safety is my ruger .22 and that is just a plinker so I couldn't care less.

I agree, never understood the value of a grip safety, but it doesn't bother me.

On another note, I got to break in the R1 Carry today. It was a little fussy, but was accurate as hell. That being said, if Remington is going to ask $1299 for this gun, a grip screw shouldn't fall out and there shouldn't be as many feeding issues as I had.

i pulled my cheap Rock Island 1911 out of the box and shot the piss out of it without a single issue. it's not difficult to manufacture a 1911 that works.

What for? It's not like I'd ever shoot subsonic ammo from it. I can't think of a scenario when I wouldn't be wearing hearing protection when shooting this one.

Maaaaaybe a brake would be handy in certain competitions, but I don't think it'll recoil much (hopefully find out tomorrow afternoon). Creedmoor is a pretty moderate cartridge, and this thing is fucking heavy.

Am I missing something?

i used to think that a suppressor was pointless unless it eliminated the need for hearing protection altogether, but i've come to realize that they make a big difference even when shooting full power ammo. they not only reduce noise level, but also the concussion of each shot. after a long range session, they definitely make a difference. there's a reason so many of the guys playing GI Joe shooting the long range sniper wanna-be matches use them.

I had a great time shooting my 300blk with 220 grain subsonic with a 762sdn6 can. It was much quieter than I expected. Very happy with my setup.

We should set up a TWW shoot.
