Steve would never have named this the iphone 5.

Waze is great. I love the accident/police reporting feature. Waze did take us way out of the way on one road trip we went on. Double checking with another map might be needed if the route/time doesn't make sense.
9/28/2012 12:21:21 PM
I tried to use Maps to find my way around DC the other night and wanted to shoot myself in the face

Probably old
9/28/2012 4:20:04 PM
can anyone confirm. is restoring and erasing an old phone through the settings app the same as doing it through itunes?
9/28/2012 4:47:34 PM
Yes. exactly the same.
9/28/2012 6:00:41 PM
Holy crap battery drain. MLB at bat app is a killer on 4G.
9/28/2012 8:55:57 PM
Really? A streaming video app that uses 4G connection is a battery killer? NO WAY ^^^^That's actually a very-well done parody! I was impressed[Edited on September 28, 2012 at 10:39 PM. Reason : .]

Is there any way without jailbreaking to configure an iPhone so that it doesn't track and record your locations, or to at least periodically erase the log?Is there any negative consequence to jailbreaking if this is all i use it for? I don't want to adversely affect security or stability.
9/28/2012 10:59:34 PM
depends if you want to disable the iPhone's GPS or the triangulation from your phone provider. To disable GPS where apps can't use it, go to settings>location services>off That still allows law enforesement to track it via cellphone towers though
9/28/2012 11:08:20 PM
Not video, MLB at bat audio.
9/29/2012 9:28:34 AM
Anybody got any idea if the restocks at stores are regular? I got a 5 on Sprint but am returning it and switching back to AT&T since Sprint's network is fucking terrible.
9/29/2012 11:03:21 AM
9/29/2012 2:20:04 PM
I guess I shouldn't say "configure"; I mean are there any apps to do it within the app store? ...or is jailbreaking my only option?
9/29/2012 6:01:07 PM
wrap it in tin foil
9/29/2012 6:30:37 PM
disable location servicesnm, i see that's already been mentioned[Edited on September 29, 2012 at 10:02 PM. Reason : ]

yes, literally no one was having problems with it. that's why there were thousands of articles about it with millions of people complaining about it and Apple issued free bumper cases to prevent the problem. But apple-dick-sucing El Nacho says he didn't have any problem, welp, that settles it!
9/30/2012 10:23:48 AM
It's really not an all or nothing issue like you've just tried to make it out to be. You're coming in on one extreme on this issue, and you're dead set on putting me at the other extreme end in order to make your point of view seem less incorrect. Both extremes are wrong, however the only one with an extreme viewpoint here is you. I never said there weren't any issues at all. Just that the issues weren't as widespread or debilitating as the media and you Apple-haters were making them out to be. If, in your feeble mind, you have already accepted it as a fact that millions of customers were unable to use their phones because of the issue then there's no way I can make you believe otherwise. Its simply not true at all, and the phone continues to sell well to this day, still "crippled" in its original condition. You're set in your beliefs, I get it. There nothing I could say that would make you believe the truth about this issue, and more to the point, even if you did know the facts, you're the type of person to ignore them just for the sake of trolling. And with that in mind, I've fed your trolling for the last time.

Odd, the phrase "takes one to know one" keeps popping into my head for some reason.

because its the slightly more grown up version of "i know you are but what am i?"or "i'm rubber you're glue"

This is more of an iOS 6 question instead of iPhone 5 question, but is there really no way to temporarily disable vibration when you take a call? I'm pretty tired of being on a phone call and an email alert vibration shakes my head. They can turn off the display when you hold it up...why not the vibrate?Or am I missing an obvious toggle that lets me turn this off?
10/1/2012 9:24:35 AM
Anyone see a more definitive announcement on when the Lightning-30 Pin adaptor will be available? I've got one on order that says "ships in Oct", but damn it would be nice if I could acquire one by Thursday for a six-hour drive.
10/1/2012 9:27:04 AM
^^agreed. i don't want my phone vibrating while on a call. also, want to disable vibrate on alarms too.
10/1/2012 9:33:14 AM
can we get back on subject? I have a I phone 4S and for some damn reason anytime I get a text on silent it lights up and the flash goes off and off. Same with a phone call. Nowhere in settings did I ever set that up. Anyone care to help me get this off? Thanks!
10/2/2012 1:01:43 AM
The flash problem can be fixed by:Settings>general>accessibility>flash for alerts= off
10/2/2012 3:37:23 AM
Anybody noticed this with their iphone5:
10/2/2012 8:04:58 AM
It's just a hardware instagram filter, it saves time
10/2/2012 8:49:33 AM
It's a lens flare. It's a physical property of nature. Pretty much every camera ever will do it, including your eyes.
10/2/2012 9:27:55 AM
10/2/2012 9:40:52 AM
^^ The original email posted above actually had 2 images shot at the same time if the same subject. One was the iP5 and the other was the iP4. The iP4 image didn't show it. Other blogs have done the same tests with Android & Win7 phones showing the same result. It's an iP5 flaw.
10/2/2012 12:29:55 PM
Just try not to take pictures with a light source on the edge of the frame? Hasn't been a big problem for me.
10/2/2012 1:27:29 PM
That would eliminate a lot of the photos I take with my phone outside. Especially on camping trips. Glad I didn't get one.
10/2/2012 1:30:44 PM
^^^I always wondered why they don't use sapphire glass for the camera cover on the iphone, like you'd find on a watch (my 4's glass is somewhat scratched compared to the rest of the phone).I guess that's why.
10/2/2012 2:07:36 PM
I was going to say "You're holding it wrong" as a joke ... but I see they basically said that:
