Buddy of mine was getting 20/8 on AT&T this morning.

Anyway, just got back from the Verizon store. Got the second to last one in the store. Massive upgrade from the 4, although typing on the screen will take a bit of getting used to. Loving the LTE speeds.

LTE is sick. Especially the upload speeds. Definitely turning off WiFi unless I don't get service somewhere...good to be grandfathered in under an unlimited data plan

Noticeably faster than the 4s...in my opinion.

The new earbuds are awesome. More bass

what site are you using to speedtest the LTE?

I just got 7Mbps down and .17 Mbps up

Currently getting about 10/13 at my shop...although using it on my phone it seems much quicker than my home wifi.
Love this phone.. It's Noticeably faster than my old iPhone 4. I also love the sound of the theropods. This phone is everything I was hoping it would be.

I just dictated that entire post in my loud ass shop.

Maps App.

Passport because it's still so infantile in execution

Ummm, what else... OH, I had "use celluar data" turned off when downloading music from iMatch last night, but the phone just kept on downloading on LTE regardless so I blew through about 2GB of monthly data, and am scratching my head as to why my iPhone allowed that to occur. I'll be calling Verizon about that one.

negatives..

so far i am not sold on the build quality that apple has been raving about...in forums there are so many manufacturing defects in this version.
errors in the machining of the aluminum and other issues (not with mine, but several others on macrumors for instance)

on mine..the only issue i can really complain about as far as build quality is my home button doesnt sit completely flush with phone..it sticks out by such a minute amount, but since i have a really rough, callused thumb..it catches on the edge of the button and is annoying (im guessing it will fix itself after a day or 2..its already better today)
overall i do feel like the 4, 4s feels nicer in the hand..feels like it is more valuable (glass on both sides and heavier)..but the 5 doesnt feel cheap per se..

also..im not amazed with the battery life (granted I've been using the phone much more than usual)..on LTE it still sucks some juice, and the phone gets warm.

another positive though...the built in speaker on the phone is much louder and clearer than on my iphone 4..and again, the earpods (imo) are even better than i expected. plenty of bass but not over done. so much louder than the old headphones too.

i know you asked for negatives..but i am really having trouble finding them (other than stuff that apple has not allowed all along..)
Due to the faster a6..and probably plenty of other reason..the GPS is amazingly improved over the 4. It hasnt lagged once on me yet..always finds my location quickly and is just overall working right (final)y)

i personally think it is worth the upgrade (if just for the speed of the phone alone..everything is instantaneous..its quite a jump from the 4)

yeah i think if you're upgrading from a 4S it might not be as noticeable, but coming from a 4 with 3G, it's incredibly fast at the moment.

I upgraded from a 4s, and can see a speed difference in loading apps, editing photos, etc.. And of course the LTE is MUCH faster than 3g...

As far as battery life, my 5 is currently doing better than my 4s.. Maybe it is because my 4s was a year old and wasn't as good as the day I bought it..

I'm impressed with the overall quality of the phone, no defects here.

..another thing they improved upon a LOT is the sound quality during video recording. the directional mic on the back makes a huge difference. noise cancellation also might be working while recording video as well (i was standing in front of a huge fan and there isnt much sound at all)

i tried to upload a 10 min race video to youtube from the track but it wouldnt upload HD quality over LTE. would have been nice to see how fast it sent a 10min clip over lte
im ready for the jailbreak

There's definitely an issue with mine as far as toggling the "Use Cellular Data" functionality that it is basically ignoring and continuing to use the cellular network to download music from iMatch that I have selected for it to download even once I've left the Wi-Fi network. Therefore I've now gone through about 3GB of data. I called them and they escalated it up to the engineers and said it was almost certainly a bug that they're going to work on fixing. He thought that there was a chance it might be device specific, but either way, he said they're going to comp my data usage with Verizon for the amount prior to my call if I end up with an overage this month.

It's is my first exp with the iPhone. Any advice on setting up push notifications for email, Facebook, things like that. I thought I did it correctly, but the updates don't seem to trigger a notification...

Facebook is weird regarding notifications for me. Sometimes they come through with sound, sometimes just through the screen. Same thing with my 4.

Never had any problems with email or anything else.

I think that is a Facebook App issue.

I have a 4 that is still on 5.1. I updated the FB app, but not the iOS yet. I am getting the notification issues as well.

I don't know for sure that they have done this with the new cables, but it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest either way."

Well, to be fair, there have also been significant quality of product issues with some of the off-brand third party adaptors made excessively cheaply, so from a brand reliability perspective, it's at least one additional thing to consider when making this sort of move. some people don't realize that the reason they can get a 5W charger on amazon for .92 cents is because they are not actually constructed to apple standards, whatever those may be. they think they're just getting a good deal on amazon and that apple will stand behind that product as well as one from the actual apple store.

only other thing I can't figure out at the moment is how to remove a song from my alarm sounds after selecting it to be used. Accidentally added a song I would prefer not to wake up with, nor have it display, and there doesn't seem to be a way to remove it.

All the drop tests I've seen have been impressive as hell. Seems tougher than the Galaxy S 3 and way tougher than the 4s.

The aluminum gets all scratched and dinged but the screen doesn't break when you drop it on the corners like it does in many other phones.

I'm also trying to find a couple of 16GB 5's sometime this week. I've been calling a couple Verizon stores and the apple store periodically to check whether or not they've received another shipment. So far nothing and both have said they just receive blind shipments with no notice. Chick at the apple store said she was hopeful they'd get another batch sometime later this week.

I just went ahead and ordered one at the Verizon store to ship to my house. Switching over from AT&T and getting a shared plan with the fiance. My bill is going down by like $25 bucks with our shared plan discounts and her teacher's discount. I'm stoked.

idk about this time around, but i know with the 4 and 4s the verizon store here in rocky mount had plenty. bc only like 3 people in this town can afford one. so if you're willing to drive ~1 hr east of raleigh, you might find one. maybe worth a phone call at least.

the navigation on this new iphone is flawless...(besides map data issues for some users)..the actual gps sensitivity and update speed is great, much better than any standalone gps.
fast enough that directions are spoken before you get to the turn and re-routes are immediate

pretty stoked with this phone..just waitin for the first scratch

..my battery life hasnt been very good at all...phone is dead halfway through the day. anyone else battery going much faster than their 4/4s?
