Everybody that reports on this says the same thing about Sean and unc, they also all (including Giglio) say it's far down the list of factors. However people also say his wife wants him to at least here us out.

Only way we don't try to get Archie to talk is if Dayton makes it out of this weekend

I don't normally pay attention to pack pride, but I have checked it out on occasion since Gott was fired to follow the drama. That place is the cancer of the fanbase. IMO, can't go wrong with Wade or Keatts.

Keatts, from the few interviews I've heard with him, sounds like a fun guy that players would love. He's got that Tidewater/Eastern NC-sounding draw that the old-timers would like.

For whatever reason, I didn't know until just now that he was the coach at Hargrave Military Academy basically from 1999-2011. That means he coached Lorenzo Brown, and if I'm not mistaken, Anthony Grundy. Also coached Josh Howard, David West, Maurice Speights, Jordan Crawford, PJ Hairston, Montrez Harrell, and tons others.

^that's what agents and search firms do. a coach can (and would) let his agent know that he may be interested in a certain position. that coach wouldn't interview or get too involved until his season ends. but you make it known that there is interest. you're not asking the coach whose season is still ongoing to make decision as to whether or not he will accept the job. you're just finding out if he is interested. if he's not, you move on. using Archie as the obvious example...if Archie has any interest in the job, his agent knows it. and the search firm will learn of it and we'd act accordingly (in this case, wait until his game tonight). just as easily, the search firm and Yow can learn that Archie really has very little interest in coming back to State and they know not to waste their time.

maybe. depends on how much interest is there. that's kinda what happened with Shaka last time...and we waited until the Final 4 and didn't get him. i agree with what you're saying kinda. but i think more goes into it than just "we can't make any decision until we talk to every candidate". for example, if Yow thinks Keatts is her guy...for whatever reason she's just 100% sold on him, and Archie's interest seems lukewarm...then it makes sense to go ahead and make a move on Keatts and forget about Archie. especially if there seems to be increasing interest from Illinois or other jobs in regards to Keatts (or Wade, or whoever). at this point, you have a pretty good feel for who is or is not interested. and it's entirely possible Archie was our #1, showed little to no interest, and Keatts was our #2 so we wanna go ahead and wrap him up. if that's the case, that would be the wise thing to do.

maybe. not sure it would be 4-5 guys, but probably 2 at least. Gregg Marshall and Archie are the obvious names that would have been ahead of Keatts but maybe had no interest. Wade would be up there, but it's entirely possible DY like Keatts more than Wade. that's pretty much the early "lists" we saw. Marshall, Archie, Wade, Keatts. some people may have mentioned Butler's coach or long shot candidates like Scott Drew or whatever. but Keatts was right there from the beginning...not sure I see this as a situation where we were turned down by several guys and finally got down to Keatts on our list. ultimately, it doesn't really matter. most folks seem to view Keatts as a good coach with a lot of upside.
