Btw I think the effort we were spending to get a JUCO safety (that we didn't get) shows the coaches confidence in our current secondary lineup for next year.

^I honestly think it was a "maddox or Ingle" type of thing. Maddox would have come in with 3 years to play. Ingle has 4. So maddox wasn't a TRUE juco in that he is expected to come in ready to play right away with only 2 to go.We've got some experience in the back 4 now. No reason they shouldn't take a step up in production.
12/13/2017 12:50:22 PM
I think the coaches just wanted good players that can contribute early and would have taken the first one to commit. From what I've read most expect Ingle to push for playing time next year at nickel and KR. Also have to look at how many DB injuries we had this year, can't fault the coaches for liking the idea of bringing in bodies to contribute early.
12/13/2017 1:40:30 PM
^^since they are still going after Palmer, it may not have been an "or" life conventional wisdom said. Also back 5, although that nickel position could be filled by converted LB I suppose.

Roseboro announced he's coming back. Hopefully since he gets a ton of PT he becomes a stud.
12/17/2017 11:59:40 PM
Now what about Finley and Hines???
12/18/2017 12:37:35 AM
(and will richardson) they still have plenty of time to decide...josh jones and chubb announced their intentions after the bowl game last year.
12/18/2017 7:29:52 AM
IMO, Richardson should go; Hines should defiantly stay. Finley is a tough one b/c hes older. This seems to be a draft with several good QB's so his draft rank wont be real high but I haven't looked into who will be coming out next year
12/18/2017 8:33:04 AM
Hines would be a bit of a shock, don't think his draft stock is super high right now. Richardson could go, draft stock isn't great but he's had a lot of issues with the staff and being suspended, though he seemed to have a much better year this year after he came back. Finley really seems 50-50. Almost seems like a Trevor Lacey deal where if he posted those numbers and was a true JR he'd be back, but given his age it's hard to tell.
12/18/2017 8:35:03 AM
Ted Roof coming on as 10th assistant. Co-defensive coordinator. With a focus on secondary. Sounds good to me.
12/22/2017 5:53:59 PM
Was he good at g tech?
12/22/2017 5:57:58 PM
guess doeren really likes his oldfuck alsorans at DC
12/22/2017 5:58:26 PM
holy shit that is amazing
12/22/2017 5:59:36 PM
In his day, roof was known as one of the best defensive minds...just wasnt a great head coach. Very happy with this hire
12/22/2017 6:43:04 PM
christmas came EARLy
12/22/2017 9:23:24 PM
Why did he leave a DC job at an ACC school to be an assistant at another ACC school
12/23/2017 5:27:23 AM
To be part of a championship team
12/23/2017 7:21:12 AM
He's co-DC here, so a lateral move for him title wise.Story is Ga Tech was looking to get rid of him, and NC State hiring him away let's that happen without getting egg on anyone's face.
12/23/2017 8:12:37 AM
I guess people aren't excited because they think of his tenure at Duke but as a DC, he's a game-changer. When this guy shows up, the defense always makes a significant improvement in his first year.
12/27/2017 2:56:34 PM
yeah it seems like a good hirenow. where the hell is the sun bowl thread
12/27/2017 3:09:25 PM

Hines just ran a 4.39 40 at the combine, fastest of the RBs so far (they go in alphabetical order.)
3/2/2018 1:45:48 PM
^ while impressive, I thought it would be better.Richardson ran like a 5.22
3/2/2018 1:50:23 PM
Well his second one was a 4.38.But yeah, being the fastest RB in the draft sucks.
3/2/2018 3:32:42 PM
Ended up being the fastest of the RB by .03when does JSam run? That's probably going to affect his stock more than Hines
3/2/2018 3:41:31 PM
under 4.4 electronically timed is extremely fastpeople have their expectations warped because they hear about shitty hand-timed myths
3/2/2018 3:48:00 PM
Did anyone doubt Hines would run fast though? He's a track star.I think the more impressive thing is that Barkley put up 29 reps on the bench yesterday and posted a 4.41 today. That's crazy.Hines might have moved his draft stock up slightly, but it's still not a big jump. Still think he's looking at 4th round at best right now.
3/2/2018 3:51:32 PM
Eh, I think Hines draft stock will improve moreso from the other running drills as well as route running at the combine. He's not competing against the likes of Barkley/Chubb/Michel/etc who are going to be 3 down backs. He's gonna be a slot receiver/change of pace back and I think his time in college spent as a WR will give him a boost over other RBs who never played WR.But it's still nice to be able to say he's the fastest. Also I don't think Barkley beasting the combine is a surprise to anyone. Dude is legitimately the best player in the draft.]
