ok...i can't really disagree too much with Ohio St. each of the 3 teams had a legitimate argument. but how does TCU drop 3 spots if they were #3 last week? that part doesn't make much sense to me. i know baylor and OSU had big wins against better opponents...but nothing TCU did should've changed anybody's mind about them, right?
12/7/2014 12:45:44 PM
Fucking B1GAlabama is going to roll over OSU
12/7/2014 12:46:44 PM
fuck you texasthe committee based everything on one game. lets forget the whole season.only justification is that they had so much trouble picking between tcu and baylor that they decided to give alabama a bye. [Edited on December 7, 2014 at 12:47 PM. Reason : bye]
12/7/2014 12:46:57 PM
They really shouldn't do any of these polls until the actual selection. Now they look like idiots, even though I think it's probably the right choices
12/7/2014 12:47:30 PM
ohio state has no business higher than 6.
12/7/2014 12:49:16 PM
^^agreedThey are idiots but they don't have to show that they are with weekly pollsThe implication is that TCU at #3!!! Didn't control their own destiny in the last week of the season[Edited on December 7, 2014 at 12:50 PM. Reason : ^]
12/7/2014 12:49:41 PM
lol at kirk herbstreit saying "head to head came into play at the end"...why did it not come into play last week, then? and i understand that baylor and OSU did a lot to improve their resumes yesterday. but it just seems like a flawed way of ranking teams to drop TCU. this is the problem with revealing rankings each week.
12/7/2014 12:49:43 PM
I still can't believe that OSU is in with a home loss to 6-6 vt
12/7/2014 12:51:48 PM
12/7/2014 12:54:03 PM
Bama -9.5 vs OSUOregon -8.5 vs FSU I'd take FSU to cover.
12/7/2014 12:56:53 PM
What we learned today is any ranking before the last one is pure dogshit. I could argue for any of the three to be in but if you are going to release rankings like you do and then just completely flip the script it is pointless as hell. I feel like putting on my tinfoil hat and saying they did it all for tv ratings because I cannot comprehend how TCU drops three spots.[Edited on December 7, 2014 at 1:03 PM. Reason : Autocorrect]
12/7/2014 12:57:18 PM
12/7/2014 12:58:16 PM
TCU had already blown their load; they finished against Iowa State. Baylor played K State and OSU played Wisconsin. that's how they dropped so much. the comparisons changed because of the last week schedule.
12/7/2014 12:58:46 PM
I still need explanation about FSU being 3. They seemed to play similar SOS so if you're going to say its because of margin of victory, then how the hell is alabama #1? They had 3 FSU-style escapes. So what did Alabama do to get so far ahead of FSU?
12/7/2014 1:02:02 PM
we can still end up with co-national champions under this system if a team like fsu goes undefeated, doesn't make the playoff, wins their bowl and then a team like ohio state makes it in and wins the playoff.
12/7/2014 1:06:33 PM
^which is why an undefeated Power 5 team will never miss the playoffs. It would destroy the playoff concept[Edited on December 7, 2014 at 1:27 PM. Reason : power5]
12/7/2014 1:07:29 PM
If that were the case, FSU would be ranked 1. If there Baylor and Ohio state were unbeaten, one of these teams would be out.
12/7/2014 1:09:03 PM
^Was about to post the same thing. If Baylor and Ohio St had both gone undefeated, it looks Baylor would still be sitting at home this year based on how the committee handled this. Now, I don't believe that would actually happen. But this ranking opened the door for that argument to be made.
12/7/2014 1:12:07 PM
No. I didn't say that an undefeated would be #1 just that they wouldn't miss the playoffsMy guess if Baylor and OSU went undefeated:#1 OSU#2 Alabama#3 FSU#4 Baylor[Edited on December 7, 2014 at 1:25 PM. Reason : .]
12/7/2014 1:24:55 PM
Replace the team names of Baylor and TCU with Oklahoma and Texas and I have a feeling we would have a completely different playoff ranking
12/7/2014 1:25:04 PM
12/7/2014 1:26:51 PM
TCU can't help their last game was against a weak opponent. They got penalized for it.
12/7/2014 1:33:03 PM
12/7/2014 1:39:20 PM
It isn't like we didn't know that they didn't have a championship game all season or that their last game was against Iowa State. These things are not new, they aren't surprises, they were known when TCU was ranked third five days ago.
12/7/2014 1:40:27 PM
Everyone's acting like the conferences are equal. The big10 is a shitty conference. None of those teams have any good wins. Oregon crushed Michigan Stae, LSU crushed Wisconsin and Virginia Tech crushed Ohio State. The committee ignored all of this.
12/7/2014 1:44:38 PM
it played out like it should.Baylor played a bad schedule, beat TCU and tOSU has been on the rise.FSU will repeat.
12/7/2014 1:50:29 PM
I'm rooting for FSU. I generally don't care for them, nor do I subscribe to the "root for the ACC" thing. But fuck it, I hope they prove everybody wrong.
12/7/2014 1:52:29 PM
12/7/2014 1:53:10 PM
Its going to be hard for Alabama to lose since their opponent in the championship game will have just played one of the best teams in the country the previous week.
12/7/2014 1:54:04 PM
^^I agree with what you're saying, but they actually finished the regular season vs Auburn[Edited on December 7, 2014 at 1:54 PM. Reason : arrows]
12/7/2014 1:54:09 PM
^ and a championship game against a top 15 team. So that guys argument is pretty ignorant sounding now that I am typing this out.
12/7/2014 2:52:58 PM
the good thing about this controversy is that it should lead to an 6 or 8 team playoff sooner rather than later.
12/7/2014 3:44:51 PM
A top 15 team with wins against a whopping 2 teams in the top 25 and none in the top 15. Talk about making a statement.
12/7/2014 3:45:03 PM
i really want FSU to win, just b/c it'll infuriate basically everyone that follows football for non-football-watching reasons.
12/7/2014 3:48:11 PM
Roll Tide
12/7/2014 3:56:20 PM
if FSU doesn't win, I wouldn't mind seeing oregon win it all[Edited on December 7, 2014 at 4:01 PM. Reason : really, anybody but ohio state. fuck them]
12/7/2014 4:01:36 PM
all in on FSU or Bama. Fuck the #narrative assholes
12/7/2014 4:44:36 PM
I'm all for Bama or O winning.Fuck the LuckeyesFuck Jameis Winston
12/7/2014 7:27:46 PM
pulling for FSU, or Oregon if they win. Fuck Bama and definitely fuck Ohio State. FSU-Bama would be awesome.
12/7/2014 7:58:38 PM
What's with the Ohio State hate?I'm all in rooting for Oregon or Ohio State to win it all. If 'Bama win's the CFP we'll never fucking hear the end of it (SEC chants and how they're the descendants of football God). And I don't want FSU to win it because fuck FSU and fuck Winston. Let's go DUCKS!!! [Edited on December 7, 2014 at 11:45 PM. Reason : grammar]
12/7/2014 11:45:36 PM

12/8/2014 8:32:23 AM
no big 12 championship means a 13 game "body of work" for the other power 5 vs 12 games. and baylor's win over tcu puts baylor ahead of them, all things considered.
12/8/2014 11:01:06 AM
yeah the other teams (not big 12 teams) have one more game to pad their resume. but the big 12 still plays 9 conference games....a conference champ plays 8 regular season conference games + 1 championship. but it's clear the committee punished the big 12 for not having a conference championship.at the same time though, i have a hard time believing texas or oklahoma would have been left out if they were in tcu or baylor's position.[Edited on December 8, 2014 at 11:31 AM. 12/8/2014 11:29:31 AM
This is why I gave 0 shits all season long about the weekly playoff rankings. They meant nothing.
12/8/2014 11:41:06 AM
the committee gave Mississippi State a higher ranking than Michigan State to ensure all the B1G teams had a bowl to play in, thus screwing NC State out of the Belk Bowl. THANKS JERKS. ]
12/8/2014 11:49:11 AM
I really wanted Alabama to lose because of the SEC wack fest and I just don't like Saban. But I also don't like Ohio State either. I also really like Oregon, but want FSU to win for the ACC.I'm really torn on who to cheer for in these games.
12/8/2014 1:39:44 PM
12/8/2014 1:44:26 PM
I don't really care at all about conference pride, but there really isn't a likable team within the 4. (Oregon/Nike reek of shadiness). So, I guess Go Noles.
12/8/2014 1:53:02 PM
GO BUCKEYES!!!!!
