Sorry for the extended downtime. I've spent most of the holiday in a drunken stupor.

The update getting pushed tomorrow should fix most of the issues remaining from the last patch. I'll give it a day for people to make sure it doesn't break more things, then get the map back up. After that we can figure out how we're going to handle health and mobs.

Played my first REAL game. Built a nice little house, found lots of iron, etc.

Then I thought a moat of lava would be cool. Until it burned my house down.

Map is coming back online in a few minutes. I don't know what's fucked up and what isn't atm, so bear with me. I have disabled health and mobs for the time being since there are still bugs with those.

Minecarts are mostly fixed. There are still some destruction bugs, and if the chunk you start in unloads it will crash your cart. Best to avoid using minecarts and boats until he fixes these. They are high priority on the bugtracker.

Let me know of any other issues you encounter.

At the moment my tiny piece of real estate looks pathetic, but I've got Russian to go to in the morning. Soon as I get out of class I intend to start making my area look respectable (and saturnine, I apologize for the current state of my walkway )

Its neat, but saturn is right, it looks more like populus than minecraft.

There is a certain simplicity to minecraft that makes it fun. IMO, the more realistic these types of games become, the less fun they will be.

Agreed. I think Minecrafts simplistic graphics is actually a good thing. All the game textures are iconic. The default skin is really just an iconic image that vaguely represents the properties of the block. The simplistic graphics also give it its on style that is recognizable and distinguishable from other games.

Minecraft does not need high res graphics to be successful. That being said I am interested in this From Dust game. Its more of a "God" perspective on creating where as Minecraft is more of a "Personal" creating game.

OK, it just connected me to the server, supposedly, but I spawned on some small island in the middle of nowhere, not anywhere near where I logged out or the spawn point, and it doesn't seem to update my position on the dekciw map...I am confused but will trust our glorious masters to make all things work in time.

Sorry about that. Apparently the server killed itself during the last restart for some reason. Nothing in the logs to say why. It would have started itself back up at the next restart time anyway, but I went ahead and put it back online.

We discovered a pretty massive security hole, so we need to shut the server down for a bit. It's not ideal, but at least we won't have to do rollbacks later.

just fyi - I tried to get on the tww server tonight but it was super laggy and "ghosting" quite a bit (i could see through the blocks). I'm not sure if the problem was on my end or the server end, but I never had a problem before.
