already listen to Torche and Zozobra (which spawned from Old Man Gloom if you havent ever listened to them by chance) but I shall check out the other stuff since I usually dig a lot of the bands you post.In other news, we're about 90% done with preliminary writing for the album (working on the 10th and 11th tracks right now from a guitar stand point...need to go back and write most the drums and all vocals still to most of the songs), but we are also realizing it is going to take a good 3 weeks to really do it how we want in the studio as opposed to the 2 weeks we thought we could do it in. :/ ($$$$)[Edited on February 16, 2009 at 9:03 AM. Old Man's Child shits on whoever this Old Man Gloom is.
2/16/2009 10:35:07 AM

isis' "oceanic" was really good, imo.
2/16/2009 11:13:10 AM
you would like callisto, they're exactly like all the other post metal bands.the album i have 'noir' has like saxophone on it which is gay but works for some reason.I'm Big Business and i approved this message.[Edited on February 16, 2009 at 11:16 AM. Reason : saxophones are gay]
2/16/2009 11:15:55 AM
lol, i like sax, but within the right context (works great for mars volta). And ill have to check them out. I love the post metal stuff to an extent but I dont actively listen to tons of it on a regular basis still because a lot of it is so similar - if that makes any sense.

2/16/2009 9:52:47 PM
true true. I guess I was trying to think of something a little more aggressive, but yes I love them in appleseed cast, and red animal war used it well in a song as well. I generally love saxophone if it is used well in any music I guess
2/16/2009 10:38:31 PM
yeah, i second the red animal war.couldn't really think of something on the metal end of the spectrum. hah.

i love the intro to that song
2/20/2009 5:24:40 PM
anybody else here an old fan of Red Chord? I didnt get into their last 2 albums that much but "Fused Together in Revolving Doors" was heavy as balls when I got it back in HS. Also Deadwater Drowning's EP hit like a ton of bricks in ~2002 too but they broke up after just that recording and hardly ever playing any shows. (Their members have gone on to be in tons of big bands, some that I have liked and some I havent liked through the eyes of the dead, red chord, acacia strain, premonitions of war etc.)
2/21/2009 12:06:40 PM
i definitely dig on that Red Chord album. Clients is ok, imo. i haven't heard enough of prey for eyes to comment, just what's on their myspace page.haven't heard of deadwater drowning. i'll have to check that out.
2/21/2009 12:13:36 PM
yea, their stuff(DD) is hard to find, maybe ill up the EP whenever I hook up my music hard drive this weekend. The quality wasnt that awesome on their recording unfortunately. Their vocalist had such a br00tal voice.[Edited on February 21, 2009 at 12:17 PM. Reason : ]
2/21/2009 12:14:40 PM
word that.i've been jamming on the human abstract a lot lately; ever since i saw them protest the hero.
2/21/2009 12:18:08 PM
http://www.mediafire.com/?mvomuiowzmxthat should work for you, let me know if it doesnt. like i said, its not awesome recording quality and it was circa 2002 but I still bust it out once in awhile

2/22/2009 6:36:25 PM
lol. yea i was the same way in school. Heck, we used to drive to charlotte and stuff for shows on weeknights when I had tons of work and get back at 3-4 in the morning on a regular basis and did the same for shows with my own band but now that im working full time 4 hours away from Raleigh it becomes a different story :/ But take advantage of that stuff now for sure!i considered going to atlanta tomorrow for it but meh. if it was charlotte I would definitely make the trip on a weeknight to see both of them.

just asking this here because i know a few of you listen to them. for some reason some of the files in my Thrice alchemy index I&II are messed up and I am trying to just DL a replacement but I havent had luck (everyone has III & IV but I still have those working). If anyone could hook me up thatd be great. I haven't listened to them in awhile but there was a few things I wanted to hear, especially on water.
