i'm pretty sure this has already been discussed, but i don't feel like reading through 22 pagesi want a way to listen to my iphone over my car speakers. with my old ipod i used a cassette tape adapter, but the jack doesn't fit right in my iphone. i know they have the fm transmitter dealies, but i'd rather avoid that. nor does my stereo system have an aux input. i'd like to continue using the cassette adapter, but i need an audio jack extension or something so it'll fit without falling out every 2 minutes. do they even make something like that to fit an iphone?

Yes.

i guess my question does not qualify for an answer.

for calls, it's a national plan so roaming isn't a problem. not sure about international. data roaming can be an issue domestic if you're not in an area with good coverage. the phone warns you if you're about to data roam though, which is nice[Edited on January 8, 2008 at 10:17 AM. Reason : thx nacho]
1/8/2008 10:17:21 AM
no voice roamingand i've never heard of data roaming. i have an iphone and have done some travelling lately but haven't seen anything pop up on it that says "data roaming" or anything like that...and didn't see anything in the plans/paperwork about roaming

Apple store is down/being updated... So, what are they adding?
1/8/2008 10:28:04 AM
^A new Mac Pro
1/8/2008 10:35:03 AM
this might be the more expensive way, but it doesn't failfor my ipod, i just went to circuit city (only place that had it) and bought a modulator box for my honda that transforms input (plugged into the disc changer port on the back of my stereo) to red and white coaxial. CD1 is input 1 and CD2 is input 2. CD3-6 are non functional now. I just store the box in my glove compartment. I plug my iphone into a modded phono jack ( i just shaved some of the jack off (hahahaha) so it would fit into the fucking recessed jack port on the iphone. calls also go through the car speakers. the echo on the other end is non-existent if you adjust car speaker volume accordingly

i don't use iGoogle usually, but google did a good job on the iphone. it's way speedyhttp://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2008/01/igoogle-for-iphone.html

^ i'm actually not a fan of it. i liked igoogle on my iphone the way it was, in all its full page glory.

How long before a 3G iPhone comes out? I really really wanna get an iPhone soon, but if the 3G one is coming out somewhat soon, I might just wait. Anyone know?
1/13/2008 2:01:36 PM
I think in the next few months. I know there is a new chip I read about that will handle 3G and a better camera without making the phone any bigger..and it's better about power consumption than what was available when they decided to use EDGE over 3G originally
1/13/2008 2:14:28 PM
if they announce a 3G iPhone at macworld, I'm getting one . Of course it would help if it had GPS, 16GB of memory, and a microSD slot.
1/13/2008 5:07:14 PM
microSD? what the hell for?
1/13/2008 6:27:03 PM
^ to gay it up a bit
1/13/2008 6:33:27 PM
they might announce one, but my bets are on May-June for iPhone 2.0 to be released. The SDK isn't even coming out until Feb. The 2nd revision will be after the SDK, for sure. My bets are on 3G, GPS, 16GB and a better camera. When that happens, I'll be getting one too (and switching to AT&T. btw, there's no f'ing way there will be removable storage
1/13/2008 6:42:43 PM
removable storage is so 5 years ago. There is no reason you need removable storage. That just means you have to carry around more shit instead of one sync cable so you can access the music on your SD card. Unless you have one of the few laptops that have a built in card reader. Its like saying why don't they put removable storage on removable storage
1/13/2008 7:12:57 PM
removable media is stupid if you have broadband, edge, and bluetooth on the damn thing[Edited on January 13, 2008 at 7:16 PM. Reason : .]
1/13/2008 7:15:12 PM
i'm sure the only reason fanatik wants removable storage is because its the only way he can get an iPhone to have sex with his PS3.

1/13/2008 7:32:06 PM
They could use it for TimeMachine on iPhone.
1/13/2008 7:36:46 PM
^timemachine already exists on iphone. iTunes makes a back up of your phones settings and everything else incase you get a replacement model or your phone crashes you can restore it to its last backed up setting.
1/13/2008 7:48:29 PM
i will get one if there is a 2nd gen before this summer

1/13/2008 9:37:01 PM
how much go you guys think the 3G iphone will cost?i'm assuming it won't have GPS on this go around...if they did that they couldnt make me buy another in 6-8 months
1/14/2008 10:38:29 AM
cost? no way it will be more expensive than the current cost. iPods, Macs, etc has almost always been like that. Next generation will have more features, more storage, more performance at the same cost as the last generation. At least the baseline model will. I don't think they will have multiple models, though, at least not based on features like GPS and 3G. Either all models will have those features, or none will. They already tried a 4GB and 8GB version, and apparently the 4GB sales were terrible. Maybe they will differentiate with 8GB and 16GB, or 16GB and 32GB models or something. I think the higher storage model will cost the same as the existing version, and the low storage one will be $50 less.

Even though I dont expect a new iPhone, I'm going to be dissapointed if there isn't one...The iPhone is the first new tech product that I've actually forced myself to hold off on. It's kinda killing me, especially whenever I find myself somewhere w/o internet access for a few days.
1/14/2008 12:10:00 PM
Same here, I want one really really bad, but I want it to have 3G. I dont know if I can wait though.
1/14/2008 3:52:15 PM
I doubt a 3G iphone will drop anytime soon.
1/14/2008 3:56:07 PM
I have a few questions, I read through most of the pages in this thread, but couldn't really find any clear answers.1)- Can I edit mp3s on my computer, and make ringtones out of them, and load them onto my iPhone, or do you have to buy ringtones?2)- When putting video on there, do you just load a standard video file, or do you have to convert/compress it or anything?3)- Has anyone found a case that doesn't scratch up the chrome due to dust and lint getting inbetween the case and iPhone.4)- Just how slow is the EDGE network? I read it was extremely slow starting out, but has gotten faster. What would you compare it to now?
1/14/2008 4:01:55 PM
Edge = 56k.
1/14/2008 4:04:17 PM
5) - I am not due for a phone upgrade for another year. How much will the iPhone cost me?
1/14/2008 4:33:35 PM
1/14/2008 4:44:01 PM
^ i think his larger question, is how to use some random sound file as a ringtone on his iphone (without paying money to steve jobs, and without jailbreaking it)]
1/14/2008 5:00:46 PM
^yes^^I meant to say how much will it cost me now? Is there a new contract price and a purchase price, or are they just $400 no matter what?[Edited on January 14, 2008 at 5:07 PM. Reason : .]
1/14/2008 5:02:45 PM
iPhone is not your typical phone that you get free or discounted because you signed a contract. You pay full price for the phone AND you have to sign a 2 year agreement.
1/14/2008 5:11:27 PM
1/14/2008 5:12:37 PM
yeah its $400, and the plan is ~$60/month for 450 peak minutes (near unlimited night&weekend) and unlimited data. pretty decent deal in my book, esp considering rollover
1/14/2008 5:13:54 PM
1/14/2008 5:15:44 PM
Yeah thats not a bad plan at all. Also, does the iPhone use a standard sim card? I want to be able to pop it out of my iPhone and into my other phone when I am going somewhere I don't want to take my iPhone, like the beach or something.[Edited on January 14, 2008 at 5:18 PM. Reason : /]
1/14/2008 5:16:57 PM
Yeah, you can take your iphone sim out and put it in other phones without a problem... but you will have problems taking another sim card and putting it into your iphone
1/14/2008 5:36:41 PM
1/14/2008 5:41:00 PM
ok so how can us PC users load ringtones?
