It is only $9 if you buy it in the next 2 dayshttp://www.groupon.com/deals/hillsborough-streets-live-it-up-street-opening-celebration
9/20/2010 4:10:30 PM
Man $9? That's super tempting. I'm sure parking around there is going to be terrible though.
9/20/2010 4:13:28 PM
9/20/2010 4:14:37 PM
hey guys, let's celebrate the re-opening of Hillsborough street by closing it for a day!
9/20/2010 4:21:22 PM
anyone know if the game is going to be shown somewhere in view of the beer garden?
9/20/2010 5:34:10 PM
I got a ticket to the beer garden but am still a little confused to what it entitles me. It says there will be eight different types of beer or beer vendors but not if you have to buy them or how many you are allowed.
9/22/2010 12:43:58 AM
yep, everybody's being very hush-hush about this Beer Garden thing.....i can't imagine you'd have to buy anything, since you're already buying a 21 dollar pass to get in, but I have no idea how many you get.
9/22/2010 7:34:05 AM
by comparison at the last Raleigh Wide Open we got 10 drinks for $10, but none of the beer vendors punched our tickets.
9/22/2010 3:32:30 PM
9/22/2010 3:54:53 PM
Buying the Beer Garden ticket gets you 8 6oz. samples...[Edited on September 22, 2010 at 3:58 PM. Reason : so 3 pints in essence]
9/22/2010 3:57:33 PM
ah- i'm assuming it is all local stuff...
9/22/2010 4:05:37 PM
so the plan is to watch the State/GT game at EV from noon til 230ish, then head to Das Bier Garten
9/22/2010 9:38:11 PM
^3 I don't know where you got your information, but I called Robert who runs the event. I don't know him or anything but the deal website suggested calling for details so I went to the Live event homepage and did.Robert informed me there are actually 12 beers, with 6oz servings that you can get refilled as much as you like. This cup isn't a special cup but just a plastic solo, more or less. He also told me that tickets there are only $15.Based on our conversation the only reason why there has been so little information on the Bier Garden is because the deal was only sealed today around noon or so.
9/22/2010 11:42:11 PM
interesting....the Facebook page for this event says they got approval for the Beer Garden on August 24th
9/23/2010 7:39:49 AM
Anybody know what happened to Holy Ghost Tent Revival at this? They aren't on the website anymore but were listed on the TWW ad. They were most of the reason I wanted to go.
9/23/2010 8:37:49 AM
^^They probably got city approval, but that doesn't mean the deal was done. I haven't looked at the facebook page at all, but I'm just relaying what was told directly to me.
9/23/2010 11:38:48 AM
9/23/2010 9:56:52 PM
Did anyone end up going? How was it?
9/27/2010 2:17:41 PM
out of control. (well the beer garden was anyway.)
9/27/2010 2:25:10 PM
I went, the festival as a whole was meh...they needed better food vendors and it was stupid hot. The beer garden was fun, and you could get unlimited samples...plus I managed to get in for free.
9/27/2010 2:26:37 PM
it was pretty fun. i didn't do the beer garden, but it was pretty packed in there, looked like people had a good time
9/27/2010 2:26:58 PM
9/27/2010 3:22:27 PM
Only having one local brewery when there are so many good ones in the triangle is pretty ridiculous. Also holy random beer selections for the rest of them....
9/27/2010 5:45:30 PM
The entire festival could have been done better, but from what I gathered their resources were limited. The LED tv screen was poorly done, or, at least, during the day time. I imagine at night the image quality may have been a little better. The entire vendor selection was a little lacking and a good 50% of the booths were a there for no other reason than promoting green technology. The promotion of green technology isn't something I am against (i'm LEED certified after all) but it isn't the sort of booth I believe deserves such a commanding presence at a festival that is supposed to be fun, lighthearted and entertaining.

The FMW project successfully got the land rezoned and continues to move forward:http://www.newsobserver.com/2010/10/20/750348/land-near-ncsu-rezoned-for-mixed.htmlAlso looks like they're still buying up even more land in that area. This project is going to be massive if it does keep step with what they plan to do.

10/20/2010 10:13:12 AM
Not really a big fan of Crowder. He's always kind of shady in appearance/actions.
10/20/2010 10:24:58 AM
^^^ So that's separate from the Stanhope Village thing they've been trying to get built? Either way it is good for Hillsborough to get some new housing/businesses being built on and around the area.
10/20/2010 10:43:56 AM
Awesome news, that project is going to be great. Will Charlie goodnights, and Irregardless survive this re-development, or will that eventually get swallowed up too?
10/20/2010 10:47:13 AM
I doubt they're going anywhere. At least I hope not!
10/20/2010 10:52:48 AM
5^Crowder's District goes out past the NCSU area, and I'd guess most students aren't registered there, and the ones that are don't vote as much %-wise as older folk do.He's also been unnopposed in elections since like 2003.
10/20/2010 12:16:06 PM
10/20/2010 3:36:03 PM
If they are gonna build all that, they might wanna get rid of those shady lofts down Ashe.
10/20/2010 8:01:01 PM
With this and the Stanhope thing coming in the next few years then Hillsborough should be due for a ton more foot traffic. Hopefully this is going to attract a lot of new businesses to the street as well and force some of the dumpy ones in the awful looking buildings out.
10/21/2010 1:14:23 AM
^hopefully it also gets rid of hillsborough street bums...cause that impedes a LOT of traffic in my opinion. good folks don't want to walk past 3 or 4 people(per day) that ask "can I ask you a question" type folks
10/21/2010 2:09:30 AM
10/21/2010 9:18:47 AM
The current design implementation of the Stanhope project is a joke, imo. Urban design fail.
10/22/2010 8:51:21 AM
^to small, no density, wasted space, whats your issue?
10/22/2010 1:12:16 PM
so...Capitol Comics Hillsborough is closingthey're merging with their Glenwood Store... they said it was gonna be easier than to deal with Val Valentine's construction and all that stuff going on next doorfella i talked to said that they were going to start to have major sales to get rid of back inventory to make the move easier... right now everything in the store is 20% offhe said that they were probably gonna be there through november and MAYBE december24 years there and now they're packin' up... i can't believe it
10/23/2010 1:14:01 PM
Someone buy the mtg boosters
10/23/2010 2:33:18 PM
^^ At least they have the Glenwood location and they're not going under I guess.
10/23/2010 4:35:54 PM
I was the "that girl" that fucked up in the traffic circle yesterdaypwnt
10/29/2010 12:04:53 PM
haha did you at least keep going or did you stop in the circle?
10/29/2010 1:07:37 PM
10/30/2010 12:25:50 AM
Hillsborough Street looks niiiiiiice.
11/1/2010 1:41:22 AM
Anyone know which real estate companies currently administer the retail spaces on Hillsborough? I want to find out how much rent is down there these days.
11/1/2010 9:12:09 AM
When are they starting the work across from Cup a Joe?
3/29/2011 4:53:02 PM
They have started about two months ago. Work is in full swing, and they are setting up two tower cranes at the moment.
