obviously the best weapon is to get one of those tshirt launchers and fill it full of random shit(spoons, billiardsballs, crushed up cds). unlimited ammo! until you run out of whatever compressed gas it uses.

that would be the wierdest call over the plane's intercom"i'm sorry, but we cannot land, the city has been overrun with zombies"which would then be followed with"what the fuck, are those? are they? SNAKES ON A PLANE!"
4/5/2006 2:17:31 PM
i realize now that this thread draws heavily upon zombie documentaries, but has very little to offer from the vast collection of post apocalypse research that has been done.we need to develop a geiger counter but for zombies. what if they hide so we cant see if they are dead of starvation or not? im skurred.
4/10/2006 2:11:20 AM
shoot first, ask quesions later.... or for you that prefer blunt objects, bash first, ask quesions later....
4/10/2006 2:28:01 AM
^^zombies don't use deceptive tactics... they are incapable of such. if it is aware that you are there, and it isn't currently animated.

Well, well, it looks like this thread has lasted more than a year! Someone get me a cake. But seriously, what is the fascination with zombie survival? I think the greatest threat to human survival after the zombie invasion has ended is the inevitable feudal system that would arise. I mean, we're talking the return of all-powerful kings and royalty here.[Edited on April 20, 2006 at 1:37 AM. Reason : .]

hell no dude, id still be all psyched out from blastin zombies, id drop tha king in a heartbeat...Watched Resident Evil last night, Milla is soo bad
4/20/2006 1:27:13 AM
Well, you know Rudy, I am assuming that if we have a post-zombie king he would be armed and have bodyguards and live in our equivalent of a castle. I don't think it would be that easy to 'take him out' per se. I think you might actually find that it is more advantegeous to become one of his vassals. And that an interesting side note: Those who have survived and have a certain degree of ruthlessness can have power and dominence.I wonder if people would actually be looking for a king who could protect them after all the madness of a zombie invasion. I would tend to think that something like a zombie invasion would throw democratic and American ideals out of the window and usher in a new state of human civilization.[Edited on April 20, 2006 at 1:33 AM. ^where's that from?
4/20/2006 1:36:40 AM
well and ya gotta figure that most of the weak people would be dead, so those left would be of a higher order anyway...as far as the body guards and shit, if you took out all the zombies, you'd want a bigger challenge so you'd probably go for his ass just to try and do it.... less you found some sweet ass that survived... id probably wanna fuck something after killin a bunch of zombies...
4/20/2006 1:37:14 AM
Procreation would be a necessity; however, I am curious about the possibility of human becoming resistant to zombie bites and other infection-causing causes.
4/20/2006 1:38:44 AM
The Postman. (one of the best movies ever by the way)
4/20/2006 1:40:54 AM
^AhI wonder what sort of religion would also develop from this kind of extermination-on-a-mass-scale. I mean, here we have humans in small groups once again around possibly tribal kings whose loyalties are not only 'country' but also blood. I wonder if we would start practicing paganism or some sort of expression of it.

Any post-apocalyptic society would probably be more primitive in its method of government. Many students of democracy (and, incidentally, Marx) would agree that there are certain standards of living that must be met before anything resembling a modern American democracy would be viable. We would, I suspect, quickly progress through the earliest forms of government. At the very start, there would be little need for any government at all, since most resources that we could use would be available in great abundance. If we had any sort of rule at that stage, it would probably be a council of sorts with largely equal representation from each family. After that, someone would probably begin to amass a lot of power within that council, eventually becoming headman and subsequently a king of sorts. I'd wager that certain elements of the council would develop into a new aristocracy. From there, it would just be a slightly shorter version of human history up to this point. As to religion, I can't see any short-term reversion to a paganism state. Odds are, contemporary religions with any survivors to speak of would survive in a simply altered form; without any sort of expert left to tell people how to be Christian, for example, I can see a lot of the post-zombie Christians tweaking a lot of rules and interpretations. Each individual faith (again, assuming it had more than a handful of survivors) would keep going, but it wouldn't look the same.
5/18/2006 11:24:43 PM
<regarding religion> isnt that what has been the case throughout history; especially regarding new religions loosely based off former ones?anyway, as long as i can be in charge of blowing up shit and locating surviving hotties, im straight
5/18/2006 11:43:11 PM
Not really. Plenty of religions developed independently of each other (there's no way that Christianity and Hinduism come from any easily discerned "common ancestor," for example), and I don't envision a particularly accelerated process of creating new religions after the apocalypse, with one exception being emperor-worship -- a sufficiently powerful individual might try to create a cult around his own person to secure his power. Otherwise, no new religious threads. As for changes within a religion, sure, those happen, but these would be greatly accelerated for some time with absolutely no authority to restrain them.

I love this thread

it's about time you broke 40k.
5/25/2006 8:58:10 PM
yeah i know
5/25/2006 9:00:21 PM
ok i have a question i feel we need to clear up... how long would a supposed zombie attack last? there is a theory that it would last forever, until we physically disabled the brains of the reanimated. there is also a school of thought (that i subscribe to) that says the zombies bodies are physically dead, and will decompose to the point where reanimation can't keep them active.what does everyone here think of this question?it makes a significant difference in the planning of zombie defenses.
5/29/2006 1:25:38 AM
well it depends whether or not there was necromancy involvedthen id say killing the necromancer who spawned may be enough
5/29/2006 1:29:17 AM
what the fuck is that supernatural shit?
5/29/2006 1:30:33 AM
well its a very real possibility when dealing with zombies that there is some supernatural force that has reanimated them if it is a mortal being then destroying them might be the way to defeat the zombies
5/29/2006 1:31:43 AM
ok we aren't talking about some fucking supernatural bullshit zombies... we are discussing real zombies. pull your head out of the sky and fucking think for a second
5/29/2006 1:33:04 AM
i am thinking dammitzombies reanimated by magic are just as real as zombies that are made through scienceand if you don't believe in magicthen tell mehowdoesdavid blanedo all that stuff
5/29/2006 1:34:29 AM
trickery and practice. nothing supernatural.
5/29/2006 1:35:17 AM
nay sayeralways nay saying
5/29/2006 1:36:24 AM
I dont know..I've always wondered that myself.I would say several months at most, for the most hearty of zombies....those that were freshly dead at the initial outbreak. The ones that have been decomposing for a while would not last as long, obviously. But then again, we have dont have a good idea as to why they crave brain. The high cholesterol content could possibly, who knows, regenerate body tissue for them.
5/29/2006 1:41:07 AM
well i would tend to belive that if the zombies have fresh "food" available then they will live as long as that food source is around.
5/29/2006 2:50:06 AM

magic is fucking horseshitthere's no doubt in my mind that this would be the result of science... the corpses would eventually decomposebut because of varying rates of decomposition coupled with the staggered infection rate this pandemic could presumably last 50 to 100 years or morebtw, I'm not going anywhere near the Triangle for this onepopulation density is too high and the survivors (maybe some of you guys) are gonna be killing each other over some stupid ideas about politics and a duty to humanity[Edited on May 30, 2006 at 6:53 AM. Reason : -]^ 4 months?I'll see you in hell[Edited on May 30, 2006 at 6:53 AM. Reason : .]
5/30/2006 6:51:56 AM
it doesn't take a body that long to decompose.
5/30/2006 11:50:42 AM
but not all of the zombies became zombies at the same timethere are a couple... hours later a couple morea day later moremoremoremoreyou see what I mean?plus, decomposition depends a lot on the climate and (particularly) on insectsif the corpse hasn't been laying still the insects generally don't get a chance to eat it
5/30/2006 11:52:29 AM
the vasy majority of zombies though are made during the first days of a massive zombie attack. after that, there aren't that many new zombies.
5/30/2006 11:55:54 AM
its only going to take 1 to kill you4 months is WAY too optimistic
