http://raleigh.craigslist.org/mcy/150251311.htmlbe wary of this bike. i went to see it LAST YEAR when i was picking up my gsxr. he said it had the same problem.. he wanted 3k then. i said i couldnt buy something that didnt run. so the fucker hasnt run in over a year.i wouldnt get it just letting you guys know. it's a cool bike, carbon fiiber has some damage from a lay down as well.
4/12/2006 8:09:34 AM
at least he didnt lie about it
4/12/2006 9:32:31 AM
4/12/2006 9:51:00 AM
people can fix bikes, take less than a year to do it in, and can actually work on them by themselves...
4/12/2006 9:56:36 AM
when i went there, he said the sprag clutch needed to be replaced and without it.. it wouldnt start. that's the catch. he said it ran great. just giving a heads up. shit for 2400 if it ran i'd get the fucker.he did some kinda engine work to it too, i think some mild head work and race cams, that's what he told me last year
4/12/2006 11:53:15 AM
wtf...why in the world would someone give away a motorcycle...i must have been stolen.http://newjersey.craigslist.org/mcy/150487090.html
4/12/2006 11:58:52 AM

4/12/2006 1:57:22 PM

4/14/2006 9:34:42 AM
^damn
4/14/2006 2:30:19 PM
how much did you get for it?
4/14/2006 5:23:26 PM
yeah... we didn't have any used 600's in yesterday, which is why I decided to bring it up there....we had mine in and then an hour later a 600f4i came inby 10 this morning they were both goneI got 6300 out of it... which is fine, cause I would have taken 6 for it
4/14/2006 6:41:20 PM
what do you guys think about a 03 r6 limited edition with pipe, and some other small stuff with 15k miles for $5000. Seems like alot of miles but im gonna go check it out
4/15/2006 12:02:58 AM
I think it's a horrendously bad decision for a first bike
4/15/2006 2:32:09 AM
i gotta 600 for my first bike and was ok.
4/15/2006 2:55:23 AM
not a new one, not an r6, and you didnt really learn to ride well..
4/15/2006 3:20:10 AM
thats why you go to the motorcycle safety class and learn how to ride correctly...
4/15/2006 2:33:52 PM
My R6 is my first bike and I'm ok too. If you haven't ridden much the MSF course would make you feel a hell of a lot better.15k is not that many miles, if it hasn't been wrecked bad 4700 should be a decent price.
4/15/2006 2:54:39 PM
People need to realize that 15k on a bike engine is not a lot. Even though its a 2003, that bike is already 4 years old. I'd say stay away from modern 600's as a first bike. pick up a cheap 90's bike for a good beginners bike.
4/15/2006 5:21:26 PM
well i just got back, the bike is in great condition. It has frame sliders, fender kit, flush turn signals. Its black with the red limited edition flames, he just got a new rear and brakes last week as well as a complete turn up. Seems like its a great deal, but i gotta just on it i think. Any imput would be helpful, and i woudnt even ride it until i get seversal lessons from Igor or take a MSF class.
4/15/2006 6:00:26 PM
My 1998 CBR 600F3 is up forsale. http://raleigh.craigslist.org/mcy/151392231.html
4/15/2006 6:48:40 PM
^ man i love your bike. you go by my house like everyday (crest rd.) good luck with the sale. if i had money i would seriously buy it.
4/16/2006 8:45:26 PM
I believe it used to be scrager's bike.http://thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=345477
4/16/2006 10:34:54 PM
Thanks for the compliments. You must live at the house with the lifted up wranglers/CJ's sitting in the driveway. I've got a YJ I've been slowly trying to build up. Yeah it was his old bike.[Edited on April 16, 2006 at 11:08 PM. Reason : X]
4/16/2006 11:07:54 PM
This is exactly what it looked like plus the yoshi pipe and other accesories. It seems like for 5 grand, its a good deal, any other advice?
4/17/2006 12:08:11 AM
you're going to get that for a first bike?
4/17/2006 12:18:47 AM
smoothcrim, that comment is coming from you.. who told me that the 2nd gen r6's arent fast enough. it's all about how u ride them to make them fast . screw the safety class
4/17/2006 2:06:43 AM
r6's are known to have the sickest powerband and high reving engines. They have almost no low end torque and aren't good starter bikes.
4/17/2006 2:23:30 AM
I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one preaching that a modern 600cc race-replica is not a good first motorcycle at all.even if you manage not to wreck it, you would've learned faster on something more pedestrian.
4/17/2006 2:34:56 AM
600 katana may be a good first bike if you cant find a reasonable gs500i wouldnt recommend anything cbr, yzf, gsxr or zx...r for a first timer though
4/17/2006 2:47:05 AM
^ an old 600 cbr or gixxer are ok starter bikes, but you have to respect the power if you want to live on it.
4/17/2006 9:54:27 AM
^^^^^ I'm not a beginner and for the money, they aren't spectacular bikes.
4/17/2006 11:18:41 AM
i understand they arent beginner bikes, but im gonna learn from igor and prob take a class before i even attept to ride it, but it wont hurt to pick it up and leave it sit in my garage for a month right? I've always wanted an r6, and i def dont want to get something ill grow out of over the summer
4/17/2006 12:04:39 PM
its not like toddler shoes
4/17/2006 12:21:25 PM
you won't grow out of a 500 over a summer. growing out of a bike means, draggin pegs, gassing it almost 100% through all turns, using all of your tire, not being shy of taking a turn at 85, etc. just because a bike looks cool and has a relatively small displacement in the grand scheme of things, doesn't mean its something a beginner or even a novice can handle
4/17/2006 12:53:30 PM
^^lol stick with an old hond alike jeff's that thing has given him no trouble. all of the old gixxers that i hear about constantly break.
4/17/2006 1:36:02 PM
If anyone sees a Suzuki Savage 1995 or newer for under $1500, send me a pm.
4/17/2006 2:51:13 PM
Look take my advice. Jeff taught me how to ride in Feb. '06 and that was the first time i've ever sat on a bike. I heard the bullshit debate if a 600 is a good start. I just said FUCK IT and went for the 600 because I'm not a fucking idiot driver. I haven't been in any car accidents in 7 years and I always am cautious but still know when to have fun riding. If YOU think you are a safe driver then go ahead with a 600. If you don't think you can resist yourself from pulling the throttle on open roads or take 40mph turns then don't be an idiot and put us other drivers in danger. You have to be mature no matter what bike you get. A 500cc bike is still fucking fast imo and you still have a great risk of killing yourself on it if you want. I personally got a YZF 600R (has some enhancement mods) as my first bike and don't regret 1 thing about it. When I was looking to buy, I wanted a bike that just looked very nice and fast and was reliable. It is PLENTY fast and I can easily keep up with my buddys R6. I personally prefer my bike over an R6 anyday for comfort reasons but thats a different issue. The bike you're looking at is a sick ass bike and for 5 grand you probably can't go wrong with it since R6's have one of the highest resale values around. I've ridden R6's before and they are fucking light and fast so the only thing preventing you from being a fatality is your own self-control.

4/17/2006 3:07:54 PM
sounds like some excellent advice, i'd take it. not that i know anything about riding, but not only are you fucking with your LIFE by getting an overpowered bike to start out with, but you're fucking with everyone else's on the road. just because you have the money to afford a big bike now doesnt give you the license to be an idiot, start with something you know you can handle then move up. btw, i know a guy that's selling an '87 honda rebel 250, excellent condition, what should I expect him to be asking? he said 1600 but I think that's a little high (for no other reason than its age and power bracket)[Edited on April 17, 2006 at 4:44 PM. Reason : year]
4/17/2006 4:41:53 PM
He's selling an old Honda. What would you pay for a 1984 Civic? The bike probably sold for less than $1500 new. Unless it's cherry and he finds a Honda collector, those 20 years aren't going to increase the value.
4/17/2006 5:01:24 PM
^^ you're really gunna hate that bike after a month. PLus, jamie got her 99 rebel for $1500
4/17/2006 6:57:21 PM
an 87 250cc rebel for 1600? Try 600 to be more reasonable.
4/17/2006 7:07:30 PM
cool, thanks...is there a source to direct him to to let him know his price is too high? is there a blue-book for bikes? or should I just choke-slam him, steal it, and take his wallet?
4/17/2006 8:04:43 PM
he prolly told you 1600 cause he knows you don't know much about bikes (this is your first one right?)offer him 6 to see what he does...
4/17/2006 8:07:38 PM
thanks for all the advice, im not gonna get one until break anways, so this one will be sold by then....the way i see it now it the same with my jetski, i got a lil one and now im a master of it, and now can handle the bigger better ones way better than someone just learning to ride on it....U guys make sense, its just that thats the bike i have always wanted....so i guess ill just have to wait
