Think Fagan opted out fairly early in the season.
Durden had injuries but also ended up opting out eventually(believe after our game).

Durden should have a really good shot at starting next year, Fagan is probably more of a 2-deep guy so we aren't having to play walk-ons behind Ingle.

This is vague but what happened with that LB that decommitted about a month ago from someone else and we thought our chances were good? Obv didn't commit here just curious where he ended up

Nevermind, figured out how to search. Bryce Steele and Boston College.

As far as I can tell, no real surprises. I’d expect we’ll still add a few more guys (either through transfer or the later signing day) before it’s all said and done. And probably lose a couple guys to transfer also.

Like to hear this:

Quote :
"NC State signed 19 players during the early December period. 247Sports.com ranked the Wolfpacks 2021 recruiting class as the 31st best in the nation and sixth-best in the Atlantic Coast Conference. ESPN ranks their recruiting class in the top 25 for the first time since 2008. They have five receivers/tight ends in this recruiting class, continuing a trend from last year when they had six in the 2020 recruiting class. "

Disappointed about losing Dunn to Texas but maybe that means our secondary is good enough he thinks playing time may be an issue? I'm trynna be optimistic here.

Full list of early signing day so far:

Aaron McLaughlin - QB
Micah Crowell - WR
Jordan Poole - ATH (LB)
Travali Price - WDE
Chase Hattley - S
Caden Fordham - OLB
Julian Gray - WR
Cedric Seabrough - TE
Zyun Reeves - SDE
Thornton Gentry - C
Nate Evans - CB
Jaleel Davis - OT
Fredrick Seabrough - TE
Mario Love - CB
Demie Sumo - RB
Jakolbe Baldwin - WR
Lyndon Cooper - OG
Sean Brown - S
Jayden Tate - LS

Transfers:
Chandler Zavala - OG - Fairmont State
Cyrus Fagan - DB - FSU
Cory Durden - DT - FSU

--------------------------------------------------

Overall, I'm pretty happy with this class. Only 1 RB which makes sense given our current depth there, lots of focus on WRs/TEs to hopefully get some more consistency there. I'd like to see more guys on the secondary signing but not a bad group overall

Losing Dunn stinks, but dude is from Louisiana and the closer to home option was clearly appealing.

The 2021 class looks really good on paper and love the transfers(Zavala and Durden could very well end up starting).

The 2022 class is going to be really, really strange. With the blueshirt in this class of one of the twins, we have 20 true FR in the 2021 class to go with the 20 true FR from the 2020 class(Booker-Brown has already left), next year we're looking at 40 true FR on roster.

Barring a lot of attrition, our 2022 class will probably be <10 HS kids, maybe even only 5 or 6. Also not sure how you can really evaluate who to offer in that class, a lot of the kids haven't played football or attended camps in over a year. Going to be a lot of catching up to do on 2022 kids and a lot of misranked kids by 247/Rivals/ESPN.

Texas returns both starting CBs and I can't imagine their secondary is worse than ours. So I'm guessing he just wanted to play for a football "power".

Is there a chance Pennix/Houston leave? Could see either one bolting to get more PT.

Really happy with this recruiting class outside of missing out on Jabril McNeill. Like the transfers too. Chandler Zavala’s mother apparently works at State. He was already getting scouted by some NFL scouts even at his previous D2 school.

^^^After his SO season he had 30+ offers and was a low-end 5* recruit. Dude had offers from almost every school in the country. Then he transferred schools, switched to a new system, had a major injury, and just never really looked comfortable. That caused him to slide in the rankings and a lot of his offers dried up to some extent because of it.

He has a ton of upside but a lot of teams wanted to slow play him to see how his SR season went and if he could get back to his SO season form where he was a legit 5* kid with his pick of almost any school. Between McLaughlin and Morris, we've landed 2 kids with the physical traits of being big-time QBs but it'll depend on development and scheme fit.

On the one hand I guess he gets a leg up on whole process of learning a new system

On the other, if he could just be a slow learner.

I like the VC though and hope he gets to see the field. Seems like we're stacked at QB for the next 4 years.

gotta have depth at qb and if that means somebody transfers out, then you just have to live with it. we have options after Leary and that's a really good starting point. just need 1 of them to pan out

Yep. I'd expect one or both of Finley and McLaughlin to transfer eventually, depending on how long Leary sticks around. But that's just how QBs have always worked.

Honestly same. He's already in his high school Hall of Fame for leading them to a .500 record against a bunch of bad teams as a senior.

Might be a little more honest (not saying you're dishonest, that is how recruiting sites are selling this) to say he's a 3*, top 20 nc prospect. The #1 DB is Crowell, also a 3*.
