not really android specific, but apple accessories are a world of their own. for all the phones with crazy rounded wrap around screens, it's been impossible to get a proper tempered glass protector. I found this brand called alinsea that gives you glue and a uv light to cure it yourself. it has to be the best fitting and best coverage I've ever seen with this type of screen and for less than $15

So NRR, how is visible? Still great? My experience with an MVNO of verizon left a sour taste in mouth. Just got an email from reddit with some person asking about speeds flatlining sometimes. Stuff like that made me not want to change, but they are probably outliers. Either way I figured tethering plus unlimited everything no caps on download for 32.50/month was too good to try something and deal with problems. Reupped for another 6 months at $195

It's great for me. I just spent 6 days backpacking in some remote areas in the mountains and I had coverage like I'd expect with regular Verizon. Got it down to $25/mo with party pay and I received my $100 virtual prepaid gift card, which I setup as payment method for my Visible bill for the next 4 months. Remember, this isn't an MVNO, Visible is one arm of Verizon.

Any simple way to cast my GP3 to my firestick? Namely right now, zoom and teams...
7/8/2020 1:29:34 PM
7/20/2020 9:11:34 AM
would be far easier to side load the apps to the device and probably a better experience. 90% fire tv has miracast built in and so does your phone though
7/20/2020 10:16:11 AM
7/20/2020 4:49:49 PM
why can't you cast?
7/20/2020 5:03:15 PM
don't know. Amazon and Google don't like each other? Phone never finds the firestick when I go to Cast (and yes, it's on the same WIFI network and yes, I have the firestick in display mirroring mode).
7/20/2020 5:50:25 PM
miracast and chromecast are not the same.. you have to choose "screen mirroring" in android

Verizon covers those areas with domestic roaming on small local/regional providers' networks. Visible doesn't get service on those networks or any 3G coverage.

Yes, i was just shocked to be somewhere as relatively big as wilkesboro and have no service.[Edited on November 5, 2020 at 2:11 AM. Reason : .]

Why did Google forget how to make a good phone?
11/15/2020 1:09:42 PM
^all i know if you don’t mean nexus 5 cause that phone was awesome.
11/15/2020 10:34:23 PM
Here's my latest complaint about visible: apparently i can't receive mms messages for some reason. I just get an error notification that says "message expired or not available"in the google messages app. I have played around with all the in-app settings like turning off automatic downloading of mms as well as clearing cache and data. This was a new phone i bought from visible so it shouldn't be an issue with settings from a previous carrier.

I have an ancient moto g4 that is prob on its last legs and is still sprint so had to be t mobilized by end of December. I usually don't buy new phones, but might consider during black Friday sales. What's the best value new (or 1-3 yr old) android phone? Don't care that much about camera and don't want something huge, not too picky otherwise.
10/27/2021 10:06:09 AM
Flagship Android phone literally only use for GPS/ Google maps. Guess what phone needs rebooted periodically for no reason. Could be because it remains in a pickup truck 24-7-365 hooked to a charger regardless of weather the temp is below freezing or close to 100. The battery is about to explode too.

Just picked up a Galaxy S22 this week. Tmobile gave me $400 trade-in on the S7 sitting in a drawer. So far it is great! The camera is a decent upgrade from my S9+. Wanted a smaller form factor, so no S22+(pic for attention)

Is the pixel 7 good for like $340 after trade in?
8/29/2023 8:43:14 PM
I've had a 7 for almost a year now and really like it. Seems like a pretty good deal, but when the 8 drops in October there will be some even bigger discounts on the 7 at that time would be my guess.
8/29/2023 10:17:35 PM
Lets say don’t want to spend over $400…whats a decent android phone. I heard mediatek processors are garbage
8/29/2023 10:58:20 PM
Under $400? Pixel 6a.
8/30/2023 10:56:46 AM
I am getting the Pixel 8 when it becomes available.
8/30/2023 12:17:37 PM
I got a $40 dollar android today. Can use it in 6 months when it becomes unlocked. Moto stylus or something like that. Came out in like may
8/31/2023 11:35:24 PM
Anyway for an app to make it more apple like? Don’t care about blue text colors. More concerned about swiping up for flashlight and other things
9/14/2023 10:51:33 PM
not sure which phone you have, but you can pretty much customize it as much as you want. I'm sure that seems like a foreign concept to you.

Anybody have any latest Pixels? My Pixel 3 from 2018 is probably going to die soon, so I need to get a new one.I have never gotten the latest phone before, but I just might do it now. I am thinking between these models; all are 128 GB unless otherwise stated).Pixel 9$750Pixel 8 Pro$710Pixel 8$500 ($590 for 256 GB)Pixel 8a$440 ($490 for 256 GB)I don't need the latest camera, AI tech, 3D rendering, or any other such features. I use the phone for WhatsApp, email, internet, YouTube, FB/Insta, taking pics, word games, Duolingo, and Spotify. The logical side of me wants to go for the 8a to save money, but also because I don't use the phone for any functions that require the latest processor, lenses, etc.At the same time, I feel like getting the latest one even though I don't need all the upgraded gadgetry in it.I have compared them on some of the popular websites, but does anybody here know if there are any technical or practical reasons why the 8 (any flavor) is a bad choice? Anything annoying about it? Any commonly used features or aspects that are subpar or finicky or prone to malfunction?
9/18/2024 1:09:15 PM
^ not that it matters, but I just checked and I got the Pixel 3 in May 2020 because my Nexus 5X died then, which I got when my Nexus 5 died, which was my first smart phone (in 2014).

Unless you are planning on ordering one online, I'd recommend going in person to a brick and mortar Verizon / AT&T / T-Mobile / etc store and handling them in person
9/18/2024 10:26:56 PM
^ thanks. that's what i do when buying anything, but in this case, i will be ordering online because google phones are not officially sold where i am, but they're available online, just like the pixel 3 i got in 2020.it doesn't matter to me in terms of how it feels to physically handle them. i am looking more for advice in terms of if there is any reason to avoid the pixel 8 -- any unfixable/unchangeable technical issues that might have come up over the year it's been out rather than just physical design flaws.[Edited on September 19, 2024 at 2:10 AM. i found the regular 8 too small and got the 8 pro. the extra camera was an added bonus.
9/20/2024 8:48:08 AM
^ how is the fingerprint sensor? I read that it can be quite finicky, and that it's been ironed out on the 9.

^^ it works but optical under glass are considerably slower than units that are separate buttons.

This isn't an Android, and I am not a fan of folding phones, but this is interesting
9/24/2024 12:18:18 AM
Seems like folding phones are going to break in about 6 months.Remember when phones kept getting smaller instead of bigger?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDxtjVKJ76A&t=250

i haven't pulled the trigger on a folding phone yet, but at this point there's a good chance I will next time I upgrade. it's been a long time coming...https://thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=577187https://thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=578787&page=224#16547604p.s. had to double take when I realized this thread is 226 pages https://twitter.com/kenwarner/status/1372730786546352133[Edited on September 27, 2024 at 11:26 AM. It'd take a lot for me to go back to android, but I am not saying it is impossible. I feel like if foldables do become a thing, apple will perfect it best, but I'm not completely sold yet on the idea. Like by the time it works, next advance in a totally different direction comes in. This iphone slim(iphone 17) or whatever the super skinny device is will prob be the one worth upgrading to, for iphone users.[Edited on October 12, 2024 at 12:50 AM. Reason : Iphone 17 clarification]

Pulled the trigger on a Pixel 9 today. 128 GB model was not available, so paid the $100 premium for the 256 GB model.Got the Wintergreen color, and will get Pixel Buds Pro 2 in the same color soon.I can't believe I spent $800 on a phone. My previous smartphones have been $450 (Pixel 3), $250 (Nexus 5X), and $375 (Nexus 5).I also can't believe I will spend $220 on earbuds. All my previous pairs (just 2) have been $50 each.
