I'll be getting the pixel 5 when it comes out to take advantage of AT&T port deals. That's the plan atm at least

My android history:HTC Hero SSamsung Galaxy S3Samsung Galaxy S5LG K8? (IDK the POS S5 literally fell apart with like 3 months left on a contract that i had no desire to extend, it was the cheapest phone at the store)Moto Z2 Forcestill rocking the moto z2 force going on 3 years now. it's had 2 OS updates - it's running Pie now and I have no intention of upgrading in the near future. I'm quite rough on phones and this one has taken all the abuse I can dish out, although it no longer vibrates after one short drop about 3 months ago. I think I went through 2-3 S3's and the glue or whatever that held the screen on started to come off after less than a year leaving a nice gap for shit to get into the guts of that phone. i will never buy another samsung. ever.

4/25/2020 1:31:50 AM
anyone know of an above average rear camera with a headphone jack, sd card slot, and above average battery? I was going for the new motorola, but its vzw only :-\ I might end up with another LG, but I'm really hoping to get something with a decent low light camera this time
4/27/2020 10:10:45 AM
Pixels 3+ have fantastic low light cameras, and cameras in general, but don't have jacks or slots.[Edited on April 27, 2020 at 10:31 AM. Reason : I have a 3xl but am waiting for a 5]
4/27/2020 10:31:05 AM
anyone have a good resource for used devices? My GP3XL is shutting the bed. Wouldn't mind replacing it in-kind.
4/27/2020 7:22:02 PM
I would just focus on something like amazon that has a good return policy
4/27/2020 7:57:51 PM
15% cash back on the Galaxy S20 from Amazon through 5/31 if you have the Prime credit card. Battery life is starting to slip on my S8 and I've been wanting to change carriers, so I pulled the trigger. The gray one was out of stock, but I got shipping notification in about 24 hours.
5/28/2020 11:33:13 AM
what carrier did you switch from and to?can't you normally get "free"/bill credit phones when you port to a new carrier?
5/28/2020 12:47:30 PM
Finally giving up my old truly unlimited Verizon plan and going to Spectrum
5/28/2020 2:20:10 PM
Interesting. Let us know how it goes. Sounds like you'll still be using the verizon network maybe just at a lower priority?I'm probably gonna move from Verizon to AT&T when the right phone/deal pops up.[Edited on May 28, 2020 at 3:39 PM. Reason : what plan and monthly cost?]
5/28/2020 3:37:56 PM
The new Surface Duo coming this holiday season is gonna volutionize Android system with Windows OS. The design and outlook seem very interesting.
5/28/2020 3:43:21 PM
^^Yeah, it's the Verizon network, which is non-negotiable for me. Idk about priority. It's $45/line. Unlimited data with 5G. No contract.
5/28/2020 3:58:32 PM
5/28/2020 4:04:43 PM
Yeah, the price can't be beat if you have to have VZW network. I already get access to the hotspots since I have my home internet through Spectrum. You have to have home internet with them to sign up, but I don't really have any choice there anyway.
5/28/2020 7:34:44 PM
you actually can beat the price. visible.com isn't just a vzw mvno, it's a subsidiary. unlimited everything is $25/month on a 4 line plan with individual billing. you can just grab anyone's referral link on reddit and maintain your own billing, but still get the lower rate. they also have huge discounts on new phones, like an iphone se 2 for 184 via $200 prepaid visa if you keep service for 2 mos
5/28/2020 9:38:09 PM
Sounds like Pixel 5 will come with a Snapdragon 765.How the hell are they gonna offer a weaker processor than they had on the Pixel 3? Have they made some changes to accommodate for the lower horsepower?
5/28/2020 11:19:49 PM
^^groups like cricket groups where unlimited no throttle etc is 32 a month?
5/28/2020 11:52:12 PM
^^^I don't like the idea of being tied to some random rrdfit folks. What happens if they cancel their service? Does my price go up? What about fees and such on top of that $25?^any idea on fees?
5/29/2020 7:52:28 AM
i think the single user plan is 40 even if they cancel. if one person leaves the plan, it'll go up to 30/month until you get a 4th i believe
5/29/2020 3:31:24 PM
^^no fees. Its 32.5/month unlimited everything, like 15gb hotspot(i never use), and no caps on speed til after 23gb but group leader said hes seen ppl go over and still have fast speeds. I have never went over so idk. If interested, i can give you his info. I get no kind of referral bonus or anything. I just paypal him 2 to 4 months at a time. I was nervous at first, but after 17 months, everything has been good.I prefer att mvno to verizon personally. In DFW, I had verizon mvno for about a year. Wasn’t particularly spectacular. I thought ATT was betterWill look into visible. Back when I did cricket group, they were only one that did it to where you could have groups like this. The others all made it to where I guess you’d have to give up privacy of who you call if you joined group with stranger etc[Edited on May 29, 2020 at 6:59 PM. Reason : Visible]
5/29/2020 6:52:57 PM
No contract with Spectrum, so I'll look into it if I can get two more family members to go in. Don't like the idea of dealing with internet randos.[Edited on May 30, 2020 at 6:27 AM. Reason : I get in some remote areas where vzw is the only option, if anything. ]
5/30/2020 6:25:55 AM
Looks like the unlocked S20 straight from Samsung isn't supported by Spectrum yet. Think I'll do the visible thing. Appreciate the recommendation.[Edited on May 30, 2020 at 12:26 PM. Reason : Won't have 5G but don't really care]
5/30/2020 12:26:08 PM
Yeah the rando thing def made me wary at first. Visiting reddit and visible groups is on my to do. Last time i paid group leader for cricket was up to june 30 or july 30 I forget, but will def look into visible after. I almost was an early adopter of the service in 2018
5/31/2020 11:04:44 PM
The visible party pay thing seems perfect for linking up with internet randos. No sending money or anything. Literally just a discount on your own personal bill just for going on reddit, grabbing a link, and making a few clicks.
6/1/2020 12:10:00 PM
So what's the point of Verizon having this a a spin-off service versus their mainline offerings? Why does it exist? What's the catch?
6/1/2020 3:33:33 PM
probably just market segmentation. like buying generic vs brand-name macaroni even though they're manufactured at the same factory.
6/1/2020 4:51:17 PM
I think it's 2 things: They're able to offer it at a lower price because there's very little support. They cater to tech-savvy folks. You put your own SIM card in, port your own number, etc. Pretty much all the stuff the Verizon employee does on their computer at the store, you do for yourself in the app. There's not much customer service. If you have an issue with your phone, you're on your own. This doesn't sound like a big deal to us, but most boomers would think that's shitty service. On the other hand, I've been paying for all that Verizon support for years and I haven't used it much. I have been setting up my own unlocked phones and swapping SIM cards for years. Also, I think Verizon sees this as a way to grab some of the folks who they would lose to an MVNO on their network.
6/1/2020 7:30:10 PM
I find that argument persuasive. Looking at the pricing, I'm thinking of consolidating my extended family. It's past the time where I should have picked up my folks' phone bills so they don't have to shell out.
6/1/2020 8:56:28 PM
You get a $100 prepaid credit card when you pay the 2nd month, so if you don't like it, just drop it after that and you actually make a profit.
6/1/2020 9:55:47 PM
Based on reddit seems like there are a lot of reliability issues. Several folks with no service, awful reception, or really slow download speeds. https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/i/3934375908This was with cricket in N Texas
6/2/2020 4:10:18 PM
I'm not sure that's a good representation since satisfied customers aren't likely to go to reddit and post about their satisfaction. But maybe it sucks. My SIM cards are supposed to be delivered today, so I guess I'll find out. I can always just go back to Verizon.
6/2/2020 5:03:24 PM
So far, so good. Popped the Visible SIM in and the app ported my number over no problem. Can't tell any difference here at my house. Wifi calling works as well, which is important for me because we have terrible signal inside the building where I work.
6/2/2020 10:03:06 PM
you people are making me seriously consider going to this
6/2/2020 10:16:44 PM
i'll give y'all an update after a few days
6/2/2020 10:22:43 PM
27.3 Mbps down and 3.45 up in north Greensboro. Good enough for the girls I go out with.

6/3/2020 4:20:06 PM
Couldn't tell a difference on my commute or at work. Lost service in the same spot in the boonies as with Verizon. Got the notification for the June update, so hopefully that doesn't wreck it.
6/3/2020 7:19:30 PM
I'm calling it good at this point. If you want the Verizon network, give it a try.
6/6/2020 6:09:03 PM
Are the speeds you gave previously significantly different than what you had with Verizon? Are they manipulating video stream resolutions like so many other services?
6/7/2020 7:00:44 PM
Idk. I don't think I ever did a speed test on LTE. I have wifi pretty much anywhere I'd be sitting long enough to want to stream a video, so Idk about that either. All I know is it works fine for streaming Spotify and googling shit while I'm on the road or around town without wifi.
6/7/2020 8:48:08 PM
apparently the tiny crack on the back of my very waterproof phone made it not very waterproof. test driving a one plus 7 pro for the time being because that's what was available. I really don't care for how big modern android phones have gotten. I was going to buy the lg v60, but it's even bigger
6/8/2020 8:34:44 AM
Yeah, the S20 is as big as I'd ever want to go. The plus and ultra are just too big. S20 is the same overall size as my S8, but uses more of the edges to get a bigger screen. Liking it so far.
