Anyone tried Mint SIM? It is damn cheap. $15 for 2 GB, $20 for 5 GB, and $25 for 10 GB. Never seen plans that cheap, ever. And for new customers if you get the 2 GB plan for 3 months, you get 3 months free.https://www.mintsim.com/product/6-month-2gb-plan-sim-kitThinking of moving from Google Fi to that due to the substantial savings, but just wondering about quality of connectivity.

Got tired of the shitty battery life on my Note 5. I was barely getting 1.5 hours of SOT. Samsung gave me $400 for it so I got an S8 for $350. Much happier with the battery life. Same size battery but hoping to get closer to 4 hours SOT.It's also nice having a slightly smaller phone for once. Also the waterproofing is going to be great.
12/18/2017 1:02:30 PM
Yeah, I love my s8
12/18/2017 4:54:12 PM
Do you keep it at the default resolution of 2220x1080 or bump it up to 2960x1440? From what I'm reading you get an additional 1.5 hours or so of SOT with the lower (default) resolution. I'm down to 25% for the day with only 2 hours and 25 minutes of SOT but it's lasted the whole day at least.
12/18/2017 10:29:29 PM
Default. The battery life works well for my routine. I do have a fast charger on my desk, so I try to grab some power when I'm not in meetings or out in the field.
12/19/2017 7:24:18 AM
Yeah the default was super blurry for me so I turned it up. I'll take the battery hit for the native resolution.
12/19/2017 2:14:40 PM
If you all were going to get a phone today, what would you get and why? (I'm starting to think about a new phone if that wasn't obvious.)

is there word limit for this essay?

I have a Motorola Droid Turbo. It's been a good phone. It's more than 3 years old and the battery is starting to show it's age. My only real gripe is that it was a Verizon exclusive which means that accessories were limited and the manufacturer and carrier are less likely to push out updates.Do I want another flagship phone? I want a phone that remains a priority for new updates. I want a good camera. I'm not a real power-user. I use a few, low-impact apps. Do I need bleeding edge hardware and the high price tags? The Pixel 2 phones seem to have had some hiccups but are otherwise attractive options save their price. The Samsung phones are almost their own ecosystem these days separate from the other Android devices. Besides, the S9 is likely out soon. Motorola seems content to make mid-tier phones. Are LG and HTC making good phones under their own names? One Plus? Essential? And why the hell does everyone have to make phones so damned big?!
1/12/2018 2:38:06 PM
they're making them smaller again, but with big screens. S8 (non-plus) is a good size if you don't want something huge. definitely wait for the S9 announcement and maybe get the S8 at a discount.
1/15/2018 9:48:25 AM
I enjoy my Moto Z Force 2 or whatever the hell this thing is called. Mainly I enjoy having a screen that doesn't shatter. I have shattered EVERY cell phone screen I have ever owned (and not from dropping them usually, almost every one shattered in my pocket while I was working.) I despise cases like otterbox and LifeProof, so not having a shit screen was a huge selling point for me. So far, so good. The last Samsung I had was an ST, which I got almost as soon as it was released and that phone was a piece of garbage and turned me off from Samsung for the foreseeable future.
1/16/2018 4:47:35 PM
Motorola is solid
1/16/2018 5:12:36 PM
Fucking hell. I tried to buy a Pixel 2 today from Best Buy. They're running a $200 off deal. But, my Verizon account is a business account and they can't do anything with business accounts.
1/24/2018 5:56:12 PM
Take sim card out->put in new phone? What I did with my girlfriend's new Verizon phone.
1/24/2018 6:50:51 PM
That's what I do with my VZW phones.
1/24/2018 7:58:17 PM
^^
1/25/2018 12:13:33 AM
I wanted the $200 off and I can only get that if I jump through Best Buy's hoops. Except I can't because of my account classification. If anyone takes advantage of Verizon's current 2 for 1 offer and it looking to dump the extra phone, hit me up.
1/25/2018 3:20:29 PM
Ah makes sense. Yeah Samsung took my Note 5 for $400 last month and I got an S8 for $350.

what's the easiest way to create android apps? i need to create a really basic .apk that launches a website, that's all it needs to do.i have android tv and i want to make an app that launches a website (specifically a dashboard site i have) so that I don't have to open the browser and navigate to the site each time i want to display it. basically i'm trying to use the android tv in a sort of kiosk mode when i'm not otherwise using it.

I installed the APK with the Night Sight activated on my Pixel 2 and it's absolutely amazing. My s/o has the apk on her Pixel 3 and is currently in Iceland, so i'm excited to see what kinds of photos it gets. It's nuts.

10/26/2018 1:23:25 PM

can you not go in the settings of Chrome and go to 'Add to Home screen'I don't know how Android TV works though]
10/26/2018 2:24:13 PM
i don't think so, but i'll tryi tried making an app with a random free app creator but it still had a menu and the website was a block you had to click to open. I just want something that when I open the app it opens a website in my default browser.
10/26/2018 4:39:37 PM

need a new phone...pixel xl is running a little slow and wacky at times. Trying to decide between OnePlus 6T and Pixel 3 XL. I like just about everything about the 6T, except the camera isn't as good as the Pixels (or the accompanying software). Don't know if I want to sacrifice the things I like better on the 6T for a better camera though.anything else I should be considering?
11/20/2018 12:15:25 PM
I have a Pixel 3 XL. It's ok, honestly it's getting harder and harder to justify these super premium ~$1000 phones when chanwan knock offs are getting pretty close in quality. The camera is fucking sweet though.
11/20/2018 1:53:55 PM
i'm waiting on the s10
11/20/2018 8:40:46 PM
^ Waiting for the next chipset...and/or what feature exactly? What do you have now?
11/20/2018 10:44:43 PM
it'll have no goddamn notch and an onscreen fingerprint reader. i'd wait for the note 10, but i'm hankering for a new phone sooner than thati got an s7 plus right now. it has issues that'd probably be fixed with a full reset but if i'm going to deal with that i'm going to get a new phone anywayi really like what the pixels are doing with their camera software, but that's about it. their hardware seems at least a generation behind everyone else and their launcher makes some questionable and half-assed UI choicesoneplus has a nice looking phone, but is constantly fucking something critical up. for example, their newest os has huge security issues. and yeah their camera is mehsamsung always has great hardware and has been steadily un-fucking their UI for a few years now. i'm a little worried they'll get rid of their MST chip on the new phone though
11/21/2018 9:11:35 AM
full reset and update killed my s7, it went into a reboot that no amount of resetting would fix and the guy at the verizon store said he had heard lots of the same complaint
11/21/2018 9:42:03 AM
Fuck those expensive ass phones. I've been getting midrange Android phones and they suit my needs just fine. Wife and I got Moto X 4's this year and I'm pretty sure I'm going to upgrade my two kids to that for Christmas. My set of four phones will cost less than one of these halo phones.
