^ They're all great guns.
8/23/2013 5:41:27 PM
loaded 50 rounds for my M1 tonight. gonna shoot it and my swede tomorrow. gonna test some 185 gr hollowpoint loads in my 1911 as well. gotta resist the temptation to shoot my rimfires and save some ammo for squirrel season.
8/23/2013 11:48:40 PM
Put 50 rounds through the center circle of a silhouette with the sr9c for my ccw.
8/24/2013 8:33:59 PM
did they give you a super marksman ccw class certificate?
8/24/2013 11:03:54 PM
it's 3, 5, and 7 yds, dude
8/24/2013 11:07:13 PM
Lol nope not bragging, new gun tho so I was actually nervous just time I spent the money and time to get the shit done. A dude in my class actually failed :face palm:Did they make y'all fire any one handed and weak handed?
8/25/2013 7:15:23 AM
We had to do some from 1 yd, to simulate the person getting really close. That was fun...
8/25/2013 7:47:16 AM
You have a ccw now?
8/25/2013 9:58:33 AM
8/25/2013 8:02:32 PM
an "officer" at my test had ~5 shots in the white luckily, she's just a prison guard
8/25/2013 9:04:53 PM
Ok nervous was the wrong word. I brought my trusty 1911 just incase I had any malfunctions or something with the sr9c but I wanted to do shoot the sr 9 so it's what I used. It went fine.I wasn't sure of the gun so I brought a backup. Wasn't really nervous. Wasn't vey good with left handed shooting though do you still try to use your strong eye or go non dominant ? I wasn't terrible but still I wasn't proud either left handed left eyed. I go to the range plenty normally, most if the reason I haven't been in a while is when my dog fell ill I had to give her drugs 6 times a day, it didn't really leave time to drive to g boro and shoot much. She has since passed hence I finally took the course. Haven't shot since feb but will probably go every other week now.[Edited on August 25, 2013 at 9:21 PM. Reason : .]
8/25/2013 9:19:19 PM
did you take it with ken edwards in goldsboro?
8/25/2013 9:30:25 PM
What does the qualification course consist of?
8/25/2013 9:44:48 PM
from what i've seen, there's not really a standard qualification course. they all seem to make you shoot a standard silhouette target from 3, 5, and 7 yards. i took it with Rush and he gave us a number of shots to fire and an amount of time. stuff like 7 rounds in 5 seconds, 3 rounds in 2 seconds, etc. i don't remember how many rounds total it was
8/25/2013 9:49:19 PM
^ This. I think it was 50 rounds total. I also did it with RushIm with the mentality that I train to hit targets 20-25 yards out consistently/accurately with a calm, smooth/focused draw. My recent trips to a biofeedback specialist has definitely help me control my body, emotions, and stress. Biofeedback has been great training in general, not just for my recent injury but also with everything I do everyday. I know an awesome specialist here in Raleigh. She's fantastic. I'm glad I gave it a try.[Edited on August 25, 2013 at 10:01 PM. Reason : .]
8/25/2013 9:54:32 PM
i kinda think it was more like 30 rounds.
8/25/2013 9:57:04 PM
8/25/2013 10:03:40 PM
you probably shot the rest of the box for practice. i remember he gave us some practice time.
8/25/2013 10:08:17 PM
And people fail that (and yes LE are notoriously bad shooters; 30% hit rate or something)? Seems like it could be done with your eyes closed (literally).
8/25/2013 10:10:23 PM
haha, I can shoot a ragged hole on a good day at 7 yards.not if i'm on the clock, of course.
8/25/2013 11:42:50 PM
9mm AR. Will be completing Form 1 for SBR. Due to miscommunication, it takes colt mags, not glock mags.[Edited on August 26, 2013 at 12:05 AM. Reason : .]

8/26/2013 5:43:01 AM
took my hand loads out this weekend. I was getting consistent hit on a 24" plate at 1040 yards! Pushing a 175gr SMK just shy of 2800fps! Also got a chance to put my new spotter to good use and watch some trace.
8/26/2013 3:28:34 PM
Where were you shooting, what rifle and can I come ?
8/26/2013 4:07:57 PM
^^What kind of plates? Were they penetrated?Let me know if you need more, although I only have one more 24" left.

grabbed 150 rounds of .45 ACP for $60 at Wal-Mart today, and just ordered 500 rounds of 5.56 NATO from PSA for $199 + $11 shipping.
8/26/2013 8:36:37 PM
i loaded 150 rounds of .45 ACP for $50 tonight, but mine are 185 gr JHP doing about 940 fps (by my chrono).[Edited on August 27, 2013 at 8:50 PM. Reason : out of a 5" bbl][Edited on August 27, 2013 at 8:51 PM. Reason : i got them over 1000 fps 0.5 gr below book max, but they weren't grouping as good]
8/27/2013 8:50:08 PM
the last few items i need to start casting my own bullets are in the mail. gonna be cranking out some dirt cheap .45 ACP rounds.
8/27/2013 8:59:09 PM
Just got a .223 case unstuck. Felt like a huge victory considering I want to do some shooting this weekend. I hate resizing rifle cases.
8/27/2013 10:40:27 PM
what kind of sizing lube are you using? get some Imperial Sizing Wax.
8/28/2013 7:03:39 AM
I'll check it out, I am just using some basic case lube (can't remember the brand) but it is the liquid kind.

@ sumfoo1 we were up in VA in the mountains and so called wind class. I was shooting a bolt action 308, Win M70 custom bbl, badger 20moa base, badger rings and a Vortex viper PST 6-24 ffp. I go locally some, mostly matches. If your interested, shoot me a PM and i'll get you some info on where/when we shoot. @ y0willy0 not sure what they were using, but they weren't penetrated. I use primarily 1/2'' AR500

So, after researching rifles for the past few weeks, I decided on a Browning A-bolt II .270. I'd priced them new on gunbroker for around $600, call it $650 shipped. On a whim today, I went to one of the pawn shops I've not been to in a while, and the guy handed me a Remington 700. I'm still kind of new into rifles, but I knew that it was a little bit more valuable than the A-bolt, and I noticed the leupold scope, and both the rifle and the scope looked brand new (it was used though, but barely, from what I can tell. No scratches, scuffs, or anything) He had it priced at $700, and after playing with it for about 20 minutes, I decided to buy it. Went home and googled everything, Leupold Mark VX-3 3.5-10x 40mm scope, new around $500, going for $350 used. The rifle is a 700 BDL, best I can tell comparable ones new are going for $800, used in as good condition as this one around $650-700 with no scope. So tell me, am I wrong about all this or did I stumble into a hell of a deal?
8/29/2013 7:39:26 PM
You did well with the scope.
8/29/2013 7:46:09 PM
it's a good scope, but fuck a Remington 700. sell that piece of shit and get a Winchester model 70 or a Savage.
8/29/2013 8:48:06 PM
My 700 shot 1MOA groups. I had the Hogue stock and a better trigger installed. My opinion is that they are great guns for people who don't know a lot/ don't really care. There is a ton of aftermarket support for them as well.
8/29/2013 9:07:45 PM
my savage shoots under half MOA. no modifications besides adjusting the accutrigger.
8/29/2013 9:09:19 PM
8/29/2013 10:07:12 PM
yes, a lot of military bolt guns use a 700 action. so do most benchrest rifles.but there's nothing Remington about them. my problem is not with the Remington-style action, it's with Freedom Group and all their shit products.i'll take a model 70 mauser action
8/30/2013 7:55:13 AM
most of those "Remington" actions actually end up having their threads cut out, overbored, squared and then re threaded to be trued up to the action. Most people using 700's for long range or bench rest end up having the action trued and blue printed. i don't have a problem with Remington actions, i can understand NRR's POV tho. the biggest thing is the amount of aftermarket mods available for the Remingtons. That is why most people choose them is options.
8/30/2013 8:45:46 AM
FYI my para is 5 years old and pre freedom group.

Are historic weapons like Garands about to spike in rarity and value due to this stupid new executive order?
8/30/2013 4:37:25 PM
in regards to Garands, Orest Michaels of the CMP said that he doesn't believe it will have any direct impact on the CMP.but the tards behind the counters in gun shops will make it a self-fulfilling prophecy (the same way they've got everyone convinced that the gubment is buying up all the .22LR ammo ).i can certainly see it driving up prices for things like mosin nagants.
8/30/2013 5:10:14 PM
What's the executive order ?
8/30/2013 6:46:11 PM
Blocks the importation of military weapons
8/30/2013 10:01:31 PM
think of the children

Had MTR Custom out of Coleridge, NC make me an ankle holster for P938. Arrived today after a 3 week wait and I'm really impressed so far.
