Ordered a Pixel XL on black friday, Shipping date was 1/6/17 but I figured I could wait. Now at 7:12 PM on the day the phone is supposed to have shipped I get an email saying it's been delayed to March 10th.So much for my experiment with google, and bye bye Verizon. Anyone want to buy a Daydream? They didn't have a problem shipping that out in 2 days.[Edited on January 6, 2017 at 9:21 PM. Reason : .]

That sucks. I too ordered on BF, was told 1-6, but got mine just after Christmas. Maybe bc I'm a new customer?

I might cancel my order and buy one that claims to be slightly used and mint on eBay. Anyone have experience ordering phones from eBay recently? I haven't used that site in a decade[Edited on January 7, 2017 at 5:13 PM. Reason : ]

How much is that one?Google had them in stock recently...Phones on eBay is hit or miss. The best deals are from new-ish sellers with not much of a track record, so that's a roll of the dice. Sometimes it works and sometimes its the wrong memory or worse condition. The safer buys are from the larger sellers, but you pay more. Check out http://auctionsniper.com/

my last 4 phone purchases were from ebay. I'd beware of NIB phones coming from asia, as many are B stock/gray market that don't meet USDM QA. One of the LG G3's I bought for an ex turned out to be B stock and would randomly overheat. the 2 refurb G3s have been perfect and my blackberry passport was perfect as well[Edited on January 7, 2017 at 9:27 PM. The only shit I buy on eBay from China etc is <$5

Looks like I got a good seller, no visible nicks or scratches anywhere on the phone.I'm enjoying it so far, daydream is pretty sweet. Gonna go to Verizon tomorrow and switch my plan to prepaid, looks like that's gonna end up being much cheaper overall, might even end up better off than my black friday deal over the long term.[Edited on January 11, 2017 at 10:46 PM. Is anyone using any non-OEM chargers for their Pixel?

Nougat to the Turbo 2

What video players do you all use?Had some stuttering with some MKV files...MX Player worked best for me but was barely watchable.
4/18/2017 5:05:54 PM
MX Player has always been the most reliable for me, on multiple devices. Did you try messing with the HW+ Decoder settings?
4/18/2017 5:12:53 PM
Yeah when I click that it says "not supported"...So I guess my pixel doesn't do that?
4/18/2017 6:39:58 PM
Perhaps. Have you tried other MKVs to see if they will play? If not the hardware might not support it. But a 700MB .AVI is gonna look just fine on a <= 10" screen.]

picked up a ZTE axon 7. specs are identical to the pixel but has an unlocked bootloader and much better rom support. the device is only $330 on amazon right now. I've been pretty impressed so far after getting a rom on and customized. Seems about the best phone out there if you want to have control of your battery/apps/OS on modern hardware. I couldn't wait for zenfone AR anymore after my g3 broke

Very nice. Front facing speakers too.

Did anybody else's Nexus 5X out another Android phone get bricked also?My Nexus 5X did the latest automatic update yesterday (not Oreo, just a small security update), and after that it has stopped working. It has gone into an infinite restart loop. It restarts, the screen says "Google" in white, then about 5-7 seconds later (before the colorful Android circles would come), reboots again, says Google again, and just keeps doing that. So I force shut it down by pressing power and volume down simultaneously, until this menu came up with Power Off, Reboot, Repair Mode, and one other option. All options do the reboot loop except for Power Off. Thankfully I have my old Nexus 5 (without sim) which I can use for internet/email on the go as long as I am in a WiFi zone, which I am 95% of the time, but obviously I can't do calls or texts.Any suggestions on what I can do or what anybody else tried before I send my phone to Google? I got it directly from Google/Project Fi. I haven't looked it up online yet to see if this has happened to others, or if it is just my phone.I need to make/receive some important calls later this week, so I need to get this fixed ASAP. Thanks for any pointers.

Do u have a warranty on the phone?[Edited on August 27, 2017 at 10:59 AM. Reason : ]

welcome to the wonderful world of lg manufactured phoneshttps://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/6p4q9c/nexus_5x_bootloop_fix/
8/27/2017 11:39:26 AM
^^ Yup I am paying $5 per month with my Fi bill. Anyway, I got it last September, so it hasn't even been 12 months.^ Thanks, will look at that soon. Wondering if I should do that fix myself or send my phone to Google.
8/27/2017 5:24:58 PM
Will they send u a replacement? If so I'd just send it in.
8/27/2017 5:27:41 PM
i think the replacement is direct through LG not google, correct?
8/27/2017 6:34:25 PM
OK, so I contacted Google. The rep guided me through some steps to try to fix it. His steps did not work, but I was able to turn the phone on anyway, and I thought the problem was gone... died again after a few minutes Anyway, they can send me a replacement, which will be a like-new refurbished 5X. Once I receive it (I have to order it online through a link he sent me), I have to send my phone. It is a permanent swap, IOW, I won't receive my phone back after they fix it, which is what I thought would happen. The other option is to try to do the fix here, via BigMan157's link:https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/general/untested-nexus-5x-bootloop-death-fix-t3641199I have read through that, but some of the instructions are ambiguous and/or unclear, so I posted there asking for clarification.I am wondering if I should I try the fix first and if I am not happy with the performance after the fix, ask for a replacement from Google, or just ask for a replacement without bothering with the fix. Also, I have not tried resetting the phone to factory settings by putting a pin in the tiny hole at the top. Wondering if I should try doing that.
8/28/2017 5:07:43 AM
There is also a fix linked here:https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/nexus/G_0s70PzK_s (The OTA fix)Don't know what to do; too many options.
8/28/2017 5:45:41 AM
Buy a Samsung?
8/28/2017 10:01:49 AM
when mine had this problem several months back, i just bought a Pixel. Downside: hated paying for a new phone over this kind of issue. Upside: Pixel has been the best phone ive owned.
8/28/2017 10:14:04 AM
I think it is best to get a replacement since this is a hardware problem with these phones, so even if the flash method works, it might come back again.
8/28/2017 11:40:41 AM
Get a replacement. Call it a Samsung. But don't get a Note 8, you don't want a bomb in your pocket.
8/28/2017 11:45:27 AM
I want those google pixel to go on clearance.
8/28/2017 11:47:26 AM
^^ Google is giving me a replacement for free... why should I pay for one?!Will all my texts be there on the new phone when I move my SIM card from the current to the new one? Do they get backed up to Google servers? I NEED MY TEXTS!!! This sucks so much. Already today has been extremely shitty, trying to respond to clients through email and FB Messenger instead of text.
8/28/2017 2:20:55 PM
What app were you using for texting?
8/28/2017 2:24:28 PM
8/28/2017 2:54:56 PM
^^^Well for starters, in my humble opinion you shouldn't be managing business via texts. Maybe the landscape has changed, but I've always considered work over texting as somewhat unprofessional.

Welcome to the Nexus 5X bootloop world. Mine finally bit the dust about a week ago. It's such a prevalent issue that will literally affect every 5X that LG has extended the warranty to 23 months. Definitely wont be getting an LG phone again in the future.
8/31/2017 8:11:57 AM
there's a high chance i'll fall for the pixel xl 2 which is being made by lg
8/31/2017 5:45:27 PM

Best deal on an unlocked phone right now? Don't need the latest and greatest. Good battery life is important for me.

the new pixel has no headphone jack?hard pass.
10/5/2017 3:59:29 PM
i give no fucks about the headphone jack, but it's pretty meh overall. maybe next year they'll be there
10/5/2017 4:13:06 PM
^^^^ the zte axon 7 is close to latest and greatest (same hardware as the pixel) with a 2 year warranty including accidental coverage and $330ish at best buy. it also has an unlocked bootloader so you can keep updating it long after ZTE stops
10/5/2017 4:25:08 PM
soon as wireless charging becomes more efficient/quick they'll remove the USB port too.mark.my.words.#PortlessFuture
