Has anyone besides me had a lot of performance problems with the newer android phones? I have a nexus 6p and it is constantly lagging, freezing, and hesitating. Wiping it solves the problem, but I dont want to keep wiping it. I got so tired of it I got an iPhone. When I made this thread 7 years ago I really hated iPhones. I worked at Verizon and we were really happy to have a product that could legitimately compete with iPhone. Verizon ended up using the droid product line and the "droid does" ad campaign to strong arm Apple in to better terms and an iPhone release.

Not me.[Edited on August 18, 2016 at 12:22 AM. Reason : perhaps it's some shitty app you have installed that messes with your resource allocations and such]

Anyone have a recommendation on a $200ish phone for Verizon?
9/22/2016 1:40:01 PM
Moto X Pure
9/27/2016 2:45:51 PM
That's what I have, and ended up recommending. Thx.
9/27/2016 2:54:17 PM
I obviously didn't read the previous page, lol[Edited on September 27, 2016 at 3:22 PM. Reason : I thought you were buying a Nexus.]
9/27/2016 3:20:58 PM
I'm probably going to get the new Nexus when able. Was recommending a phone for a friend.[Edited on September 27, 2016 at 3:27 PM. Reason : I didn't even know my phone worked on vzw, and all the attractive phones I found in that range were GSM]]
9/27/2016 3:25:49 PM
the more I see on the pixel the less excited I get for it
9/27/2016 5:19:03 PM
What features etc would you like that it doesn't have?[Edited on September 27, 2016 at 6:59 PM. Reason : I'm definitely not too amped about the $650+ price tag. Is that what the 6 and 6p cost initially too?]]
9/27/2016 6:57:24 PM
holy fuck with these pixel prices. they're the same as the damn iphone they're trying to compete with http://www.theverge.com/2016/10/4/13161028/google-phone-announced-pixel-xl-price-release-date-specs]
10/4/2016 2:10:27 PM
Yeah those are a little pricey...
10/4/2016 2:31:55 PM
I would have bought one if it was in line with Nexus pricing but at that price I'll just hang onto my iPhone 6+ a little while longer until something more intriguing comes out.
10/4/2016 2:52:24 PM
better specs than the iPhone and you still want the price to be lower? I thought for sure the android crew would love to have the phone that is 'better than the iPhone'
10/4/2016 2:59:02 PM
IMO it's kind of silly to call one thing "better" than the other here given the different OSes and what comes along with that, and I'm not sure the Pixel has "better specs" overall vs the iPhone 7. More RAM? Sure, but given the nature of its OS it needs it. The iPhone does not. Better processor? Maybe by a little bit, but we won't know until the benchmarks are in. iPhone has optical image stabilization, optical zoom and the Pixel does not. Other camera specs are similar except iPhone probably works better in low light. The Pixels generally have bigger batteries, but we'll have to wait for some real-world tests to see how long they last.I don't really care about being able to say my phone is "better than the iPhone." I do care about not having to pay $700-$900 for a phone though. Google's financing reduces the sting a bit, but not enough for me...yet [Edited on October 4, 2016 at 3:33 PM. Reason : The new OS interests me, but I'm sure it will be on the 6p soon enough, right?]
10/4/2016 3:32:40 PM
Yeah I don't care about having the best phone but I was interested in this one if it would have been priced like the Nexus devices. That along with vanilla android was the big selling point for me, with the higher price I would prefer features like on the new Note minus the whole exploding thing.
10/4/2016 3:42:46 PM
^^ I've got it on my 6p... but I wouldn't be in a hurry to upgrade. Not a fan of the new notifications. Hard as hell to swipe away. Google Now is buggy.[Edited on October 4, 2016 at 5:51 PM. Reason : or are you talking about the new launcher thing? nvm]
10/4/2016 5:50:44 PM
after waiting to see what this year's nexus phone would be, i'm now leaning note 7
10/4/2016 6:17:34 PM
Yeah so for that much it's not waterproof? No wireless charging? ^Sounds like the right choice (obviously without the defective battery). Waterproof, wireless charging, Samsung Pay (awesome).
10/4/2016 6:22:56 PM
Waterproof would be cool, and I've dropped A LOT of phones, but it was never into a body of water. Wireless charging, also cool, and a little more functional for me. With the Note 7 you would lose the new OS (for now), and vanilla android, and also have to wait [probably much] longer for OS updates, and also have a slower processor, but you do gain an SD card slot. All that said, I'm still considering it...that is if I can decide to part with that much $.]
10/4/2016 8:41:10 PM
Good points. The biggest thing I hate about Samsung is waiting forever for updates. Waterproof for me mainly means being able to use it outside in the rain or at the pool without worrying.
10/4/2016 8:58:43 PM
Yeah I figured it's of more use to you with your hiking etc.
10/4/2016 9:09:54 PM
Mainly for use in the hot tub at Vail. Seriously though big thing is I use my phone as a bike computer on my commuter and I ride rain or shine and having a waterproof phone means I don't have to take the phone off my handlebar mount each time it starts drizzling. That would be super nice.
10/4/2016 10:31:01 PM
Pixel with work with RW at launch!
10/5/2016 2:05:21 PM
Ive given up on samsung after my S6 Edge turned to total shit since last update. have had last 4 gen of samsung and I'm ready to move on.
10/5/2016 11:22:30 PM
I am also in this boat. Just not sure where to go.
10/10/2016 10:05:50 AM
There was talk about Google trying to get more phone vendors on the same page in order to have a more consistent experience across devices instead of every brand customizing android to create a bunch of different branded experiences; usually for the worst. Now Google is adding exclusive features to the Pixel. WTF?!

The fact that I can get updates for my Samsung Tab Pro 8.4" (which was released in January 2014) much faster than my Note 5 is so frustrating. http://www.cyanogenmods.org/forums/topic/galaxy-tab-pro-8-4-wifi-cm14-cyanogenmod-14-nougat-7-0-rom/Guess I'll be trying out Nougat shortly!
10/24/2016 5:38:46 PM
If you want fast updates get Nexus/Pixel devices.
10/24/2016 11:51:41 PM
Yeah but then I lose all my favorite features.
10/25/2016 3:46:56 PM
Anyone else have a Pixel? My Pixel XL is arriving today
12/27/2016 11:40:34 AM
^yea; postin' from pixel right now Since the last update brought the promised double tap to wake it's pretty much been everything I wanted coming from the Nexus 5.
12/27/2016 5:36:00 PM
Which update? I can't double tap from a blank screen to wake
