SHTF rifle?Sig 556R. That's a fun rifle for sure.[Edited on August 13, 2013 at 8:35 AM. Reason : good enough]

For all practical purposes, considering how much ammo I currently have, my SHTF would probably be my Henry 22 Golden Boy, lol.Im pretty sure that would fuck up a zombie or whatever, and its scary accurate/holds a lot of shots. Also, tons of 12 gauge.Save the good stuff for when it gets really bad or zombies figure out how to wear body armor.
8/13/2013 8:23:33 AM
Lol I have over 500 rnds of every round I own a gun that fires.... Cept 30:30 and that's cause the gun that fires it is 120 years old and I don't want to run any significant amount. Of ammo through it. So between that and my reloading supplies I'm ready for shtf even though I don't really believe in it.
8/13/2013 10:19:58 AM
I've got roughly 2k of every caliber I shoot, except 12 gauge which I have about 500.On another note, I just purchased a Double Diamond Law Enforcement Supply (DDLES) 9mm AR-15. It accepts glock mags, so I can now use my 30rnd happy sticks for a specific purpose. It should arrive next week.Lastly, someone by my G27 in the classifieds.
8/13/2013 12:34:23 PM
What's the purpose of a 9mm AR?
8/13/2013 4:39:53 PM
I'm going to SBR it, and my can fits it.Also taking glock mags makes it more of a modular system for me.Will look something like this:So, no real purpose.[Edited on August 13, 2013 at 5:19 PM. Reason : .]

were you in the military, or did you just buy that patch and bag to look like it?[Edited on August 13, 2013 at 5:45 PM. Reason : cool bro gun though]
8/13/2013 5:44:38 PM
not sure thats his picture or just for comparison.
8/13/2013 5:55:10 PM
Picture for comparison.Mine will look similar in about 12 months once the two required stamps come back.

8/13/2013 9:53:29 PM
I will run mine in carbine classes, so it will be slightly more than a range toy, just slightly.
8/13/2013 10:12:25 PM
just put a spotting scope in the classifieds, check it out if interested.
8/14/2013 3:34:52 PM
really want a sig tac2 .338
8/14/2013 5:43:55 PM
Negative ghost rider the pattern is full. That brake with blow shit all up in your face.... You can get a custom gun built on a surgeon action for less than that...But that's just my $.02 I'm not big on tacticool stuff tho either.
8/14/2013 5:50:45 PM
there are only a few places in the state where civilians can stretch the legs on a rifle like that and then you've gotta think about how to feed it
8/14/2013 6:56:23 PM
http://www.impactguns.com/remington-700-milspec-300-win-mag-ss-26in-5-r-threaded-barrel-85508-047700855080.aspxI want this soo bad but can't justify it for nrrs reasons
8/14/2013 8:20:47 PM
I've got a decent amount of land to shoot on, and the longest shot I could make from a prone position isn't much over 500 yards. As much as I wanted to get my 700AAC in 300Win Mag, I opted for 308 for that same reason.
8/15/2013 12:37:48 AM
I mean I can't really talk though. I do have a tendency for overkill..338 costs $3.75+ per round and still over a dollar if you re-load your own (excluding shell price)
8/15/2013 8:03:24 AM
I cant even find a place to stretch out my 30-06.
8/15/2013 8:42:29 AM
how does everyone feel about a H&K P30 as a first handgun.i dont know enough to tell whether the P30 or P30L is the right choice
8/15/2013 10:22:57 AM
Only heard good things but never handled one personally. I do love every HK I have shot but they are pricey and I like my pistols without external safeties. If I were to get one it wouldn't be the L model unless I was getting it for competition or the like.
8/15/2013 11:20:54 AM
I think there are 'S' models that have external safeties, which can be combined with the "L" long slide version.Normal P30 looks nice
8/15/2013 11:59:28 AM
Oh how about that. Guess the ones I have seen were the s models. I would definitely like to try one out without.
8/15/2013 1:00:52 PM
The only thing I can say against H&K is that for the price of one of their guns, you can get two guns from other brands that are just as good.
8/15/2013 1:07:27 PM
H&K: you may get a better gun, but you won't pay more!
8/15/2013 1:08:18 PM
While I can't bring myself to drop the coin on an HK I would do that far before spending $2k on a 1911...
8/15/2013 1:51:48 PM
I've noticed the H&K are expensive, about $200-300 more than other guns I'm shopping.I am also looking at a Glock 19, which is about $300 less, but I am not sure I want a striker fired pistol as my first purchase.
8/15/2013 2:03:42 PM
most of the H&Ks i see are right at $1000. you can get a glock 19 for $500 if you don't even shop around. how much is the model you're looking at?
8/15/2013 2:45:27 PM
HK P30 is $838 online.Glock 19 is $539~ online.
8/15/2013 3:53:39 PM
what do you intend to do with the firearm?
8/15/2013 4:32:24 PM
A G19 was my first pistol and it is still my favorite. Yeah it shoots like a Glock but the thing has been flawless and I consider it to be the perfect pistol. Great size, capacity, price, reliability.
8/15/2013 5:30:33 PM
Take it to the range, keep it at hand for home defense, be an educated firearm owner
8/15/2013 5:39:40 PM
I feel like sig & h&k guns are just for bling factor and don't really function any better than the smith/ruger/Springfield/glock offerings in similar calibers.Don't get me wrong they are awesome guns... Like a BMW vs a ford.
8/15/2013 6:08:11 PM
My Sig wasn't that much more expensive than the Glock's I looked at, are Sig's really in H&K cost territory now?
8/15/2013 6:27:03 PM
Depends on which sig. The mid to higher Sigs match the lower H&K.
8/15/2013 7:49:19 PM
anyone here had any experience with the FN P45? I'm in the market for a fullsize 45 that has a factory option for a threaded barrel. Not sure I want to spend HK money on one, and buying a Glock along with an extra barrel puts me close to the price of those other guns.

The HK P30 has a horrible trigger, but that's a personal opinion.Otherwise, it's quite a nice pistol (I would have purchased one if not for the horrible DA/SA trigger - the DAO triggers are no good as well). Fits in your hand like a glove, depending the on the model - the rear thumb decocker is my preference (instead being located on the side), light, accurate. Other than the price and the trigger, what is there not to like?

My High Noon Hideaway for the P938 came today: sweet rig
8/16/2013 5:30:39 PM
My first handgun was a SIG P226. It was a cop trade-in, and I got it at Lawmen's for $275, I think! Significant holster wear, but it shot like a mad dog. I sold it for $350 a few years later. I'm a SIG fan to this day, although I don't currently have one. I would totally recommend a used 226 as a first handgun.
8/16/2013 8:07:42 PM
finally got a loading bench built upstairs. haven't loaded any ammo since ~February. I need to load some 6.5x55 so I can actually shoot my mauser.
8/17/2013 10:06:22 PM
waiting on the barrel to cool between shots.... yep I'm on the range as i type this!
8/18/2013 4:32:26 PM
So I built this AR but I wasn't really thinking about sights when I was building it. I went to the gun show a few weekends ago and got a set of UTG sights for $cheap. I was going to get a set of MBUIS but they were more expensive at the gun show than online and no one had any left by the time I was willing to pay for them. I was originally planning on taking the gun to the range the next day so I needed some sights.I didn't end up getting to go to the range the day after the gun show, it wasn't until at the end of the next week and when I tried to zero them, I couldn't get them zero'd. At 25 yards, the POI was about 12-16" lower than I was aiming. So I lowered the front post as far as it would go (~16 clicks) and the POI was basically the same. I thought maybe I don't know how to shoot or something, so I shot my buddy's AR that was already setup, I could get good groupings with his gun. He has a standard A2 gas block so it wasn't like I could just put his front sight on my gun. So then I had him and 2 other people shoot my gun, they all experienced the same thing I did, 12-16" low.The rear sight doesn't have adjustment for elevation so I can't alter that. So what do I do? Scrap the sights and get something else? Get a riser for the rear sight?
