I’m a KK fan but I’m not sure Sidney Lowe ever had a final 3 minutes as bad as Keatts just did. Wow. Hope Hellems is ok.[Edited on December 7, 2019 at 4:24 PM. Reason : W]
12/7/2019 4:24:32 PM
He needs to realize he is coaching NC State and if you dont take that into account and combat the refs it could literally jeopardize your players' careers
12/7/2019 4:27:13 PM
12/7/2019 4:34:04 PM
Exactly. That’s how bad of a job KK did closing it out. Sub-Lowe level.[Edited on December 7, 2019 at 4:45 PM. Reason : W]
12/7/2019 4:41:02 PM
And I’ll add a preemptive fuck y’all I still like Keatts.
12/7/2019 4:42:23 PM
I'll give him another pass this year but next year is tourney or bust.
12/7/2019 4:49:03 PM
Lol
12/7/2019 4:56:25 PM
Wake and especially WS is our nemesis, so all + here for the win
12/7/2019 5:05:52 PM
^ yup
12/7/2019 5:17:13 PM
After losing 5 straight there, KK is 2-1 in WS
12/7/2019 5:28:58 PM
This experiment where we foul every play and see what happens isn't working. Maybe if you aren't deep then you just shouldn't press. What does the press do for us and is it worth giving up 25 free throws and having all of our attacking players in foul trouble? I get it against teams like UVA who want to play slow but stop pressing teams that want to play fast.
12/19/2019 11:17:03 PM
auburn is basically what we're trying to be except they play defense and dont have pat andree's on their roster[Edited on December 19, 2019 at 11:26 PM. Reason : those two things might be related]
12/19/2019 11:26:02 PM
Their defense was shit against the picknroll. We should have ran it every time down with Andree in the corner to prevent help but we had no discipline. They lost a lot from last year, are overrated, and would get exposed in the ACC.
12/19/2019 11:28:16 PM
they still have the two bigs who clean up the glass (in ways we dont) but yeah theyre asking doughty to do way too much on offense and i bet theyll struggle in some gamesof course they struggled in the SEC last year and ended up with a 5 seed and were bad enough that our win against them didnt count because we "beat no one" so im not seeing a huge difference
12/19/2019 11:44:02 PM
I guess we'll see how next year's class is but so far all I have seen is a system that works ok against bad teams (sub 200 RPI) and not at all against good ones
12/20/2019 9:46:50 AM
12/20/2019 9:49:33 AM
^^ we lost by 6 on the road to the #12 ranked team.
12/20/2019 9:53:30 AM
the turnovers drop off precipitously against ACC-level comp, however. the claim isnt completely unfounded especially since all our big wins came in year 1 when it was new
12/20/2019 6:45:20 PM
Its great against teams who want to play slow and dumb against teams who want to play fast.
12/20/2019 9:57:28 PM
We look good and it's still early. The defense is way more engaged than I've seen in years. Our offense seems to be working well, and we have a lot of options now that we have more depth down low and guys that can shoot from the perimeter. The major thing I see that needs to be addressed is being overly aggressive when we create turnovers. It's great to get transition points, but when you're playing the #12 team away and you get a steal, I'd rather see us take the gift and reset than throw a questionable hail mary down court that sails over a guy's head. Auburn got so many points where we caused a turnover, but screwed up the transition and they were able to reverse it on us for a momentum-swinging dunk. We could stand to slow it down a little bit more. I feel like if we had a true center with just a little more height, we'd be absolutely crushing it. We gave Auburn a lot of second and third chance points. Imagine having Yurtseven this year (although he wouldn't be eligible if he had stayed).
12/21/2019 1:48:48 AM
we need a backup PG that is half as good as Markell
12/21/2019 9:16:56 AM
^We have 2?We just need a the ball in the hands of someone who is going to make free throws in a tight game.
12/21/2019 1:04:15 PM
Actually we don't. That is the biggest weakness of this team. The offense falls apart when Markell sits. And don't say we miss Harris, because we don't. We miss not having Seabron/Lecque as the backup PG.]
12/21/2019 1:10:38 PM
This is the worst Earl alias yet
12/21/2019 11:56:15 PM
Justins deification of Seabron is weird. He, Batts and Harris were all guards ranked just outside the top 100. Not sure what evidence you have that seabron would be significantly better, especially as a freshman. Maybe he's a star but we haven't seen him play one minute of college ball.Lecque is silly to bring up, once he got whatever nba promise, there was nothing we could do to bring him here.Harris is not a good offensive player but he is a great defender (Batts too, although maybe his offensive game has grown), which would be a nice change from Beverly some nights.
12/22/2019 9:44:25 AM
Harris turns it over >25% of his possessions. That is not "not good". That is terrible. That is why he has washed out at 2 high major programs and why his recruiting ranking means absolutely nothing at this point. He is very simply not a good basketball player.I'm not deifying Seabron, I just think he would have played a very important role as a backup PG this season. I don't think he'd do any worse than the combination of Daniels/Bryce/Beverly that is being used when Markell sits now. At the very least he'd allow Beverly to play off the ball where he has more offensive value than he does as the primary ballhandler.
12/22/2019 11:15:32 AM
In acc play last year he was at 16%, your boy Jericole was 18% and Markell was 21%
12/22/2019 11:43:56 AM
Yes, in his 77 minutes of ACC play. It's so weird that he would get so few minutes if he was not horrible. Also why wouldn't he transfer to another non-terrible program? It's weird the huge boner you must have for a bad PG. You probably thought Javi Gonzalez was good, too.
12/22/2019 12:26:15 PM
He got some minutes, so he's better than nothing as a backup PG, which is what we have now.He was a body for when Markell gets in foul trouble. We need Markell to play as close to 40 minutes as possible. Whoever the backup is just needs to keep us from bleeding.
12/22/2019 12:33:22 PM
No, I think having Daniels/Bryce playing backup is better than a guy who is a walking turnover.
12/22/2019 1:25:14 PM
justin thinks the player you are at 18 years old is the player you are at 22 years old[Edited on December 22, 2019 at 1:29 PM. Reason : lots of you people do]
12/22/2019 1:26:27 PM
I’d rather have a back up PG that we could rely upon in a pinch and keep Bryce and Daniels at their natural positions
12/22/2019 1:36:47 PM
Me too, but we couldn't rely on Harris because he turned the ball over constantly. Hence why he played 100 less minutes in conference games than the guy who was suspended 7 games.
12/22/2019 2:27:40 PM
i felt better about batts' ceiling than harris'. but i don't know that either was necessarily the answer for a reliable back up PGi also think it's a big leap to assume seabron would've/could've contributed much this year. but i may be way off base there.
12/22/2019 3:31:52 PM
His HS recruiting ranking is just about right, he's not quite good enough to be a backup acc pg, just like Batts. Players outside the top 100 are fringe ACC players, on average. The question is why are you confident Seabron will be better then them? (not to mention that he couldn't qualify, which somebody in the program must have known was a possibility)I've said it before but you have a built in bias that if something is bad, removal is always an upgrade (like when you so confident our qb play would IMPROVE this year). But depth matters, not having an option at backup PG means having no choice but to lean on players not meant for that role. I bet if you look at Daniels and Bryce and isolate for their pg possessions, their TO stats aren't great. Bryce had 7 just vs GT. and if you do find another option, you're rolling the dice that you'll get something better but Keatts has missed on high level recruits and those dice rolls are, well, dicey at lower levels. Maybe Batts and Harris would have left regardless, but Keatts has already continued on Gotts disturbing trend of transfers. At some point you have to trust in your coaching ability to improve these players instead of recycling every year.
12/22/2019 3:34:02 PM
we have two players that were ranked in the RSCI top 100, fwiw
12/22/2019 6:35:35 PM
also everything i read from people who get inside info said that seabron was going to be more of a SG/SF than a PG/SG
12/22/2019 6:36:26 PM
Keatts is sweating tonight, possible replacement in the building!! (terrible pic but that's les Robinson holding court with Corch and Avent)
12/22/2019 7:25:30 PM
Lost by 11 and gave up 81 to a team that scored 45 against fucking Yale. Not good Bob.
1/5/2020 3:35:25 PM
I think the saying is actually “not great, bob”
1/5/2020 4:46:00 PM
Not the best, Brad.

We should totally let Avent coach a basketball game sometime.
1/5/2020 9:25:21 PM
Doeren might bore the other team into submission with his personality
1/5/2020 9:27:13 PM
1/6/2020 9:07:16 AM
This team is toast. Markell doesn't have what it takes to lead a successful team (not on Keatts). Next year's team will be young and energetic. Looking ahead, if we end up a bubble team in 2021, but don't make it to the tournament, I think he should be given an additional hotseat year. If we are less than bubble this year and next, I would call for dismissal. full transparency.[Edited on January 7, 2020 at 1:11 AM. Reason : markell overrated. ]
1/7/2020 1:11:03 AM
yeah definitely shut this season down, we are 1-2 in the ACC for crying out loud A losing record after three games. One of 9 out of 15 teams with a losing conference record. Doubtful that we could recover and make a season out of this.[Edited on January 7, 2020 at 1:48 AM. Reason : shit can we just turn in all our basketballs?]
1/7/2020 1:45:43 AM
slow sports day so i'm just thinking out loud in the absence of mnf. Feel free to drag me when we make the tournament and I will be sure to dunk on you if we don't.
1/7/2020 1:50:15 AM
Nah I think we can go ahead and pass judgement now obviously, no way anything could change in the next two months
1/7/2020 2:27:41 AM
shoooooo i hope someone has been keeping track of the chops this season
