Problem is it was too close to call there. Unless it's some thing obvious.. Swallow the whistle and let them play. But that's not how acc works so... Hopefully ole Jim will call out acc refs

LOL, Boeheim made my night.

I think it was Parker who plowed through a defender for +1 a little earlier in the game...I was naive enough to think they'd call it the same for Fair.

^^A small part of me wishes we could join the SEC and leave all this behind, but I know I'd still have the hate in my heart.

And you're British, right? Why'd you ever become a State fan in the first place?

I mean, it's too late for a lot of folks, but there's still time for you to get out, dude. Turn back!

Haha, I did my Uni at State. I've always liked College sports over the NBA/NFL because of the atmosphere. I guess supporting the Wolfpack is like supporting your local football club back in England. You support them however bad they are and will be. My local club is Manchester United.

although i still think the no-call in the first game was legit...if you get ball first, body/arm contact doesnt really matter

^If you had to work on national television with a dude who is half baked going on about random shit while you were trying to announce a ball game, you would get pissed too. If I saw that I was paired with Walton for a game, I'd either quit or go into it knowing that I'm not gonna talk about basketball for a good portion of it and just have fun with it.

I'd like to, comically, watch a game called by Walton and Vitale. You'd rarely hear about the game, but it would be entertaining.

seeding won't mean shit in this years tournament.

teams like unc and oklahoma state, could be playing teams like wichita state and florida in the round of 32.

Those games are tossups.

Literally can't wait for the most important game in ACC history between Syracuse and Virginia. Haven't been this excited for a college game since Magic vs Bird.

Not often you see one of the greatest teams in the history of the sport like Syracuse play against a team that lost by 36 to Tennessee.

you may think you are being sarcastic but this is the biggest matchup in an acc game since like 05 iirc. virginia is on a helluva run. Can't remember many like it after those all time great teams by duke in 99? and maryland soon after.

all of the acc teams are severely overrated because they started slow

Virginia is obviously a force to be reckoned with who cares what they did in december. they are locking people down, scoring and running train through the acc. I keep running scenarios through my head but can't figure out how this team could be beatable. elite defensive coaches do well in the tournament. see wichita state, butler, etc.

Duke has the most talent in the country and aside from the time when coach ks brother died, they have had a dominant season. again, who cares what happened earlier in the year? obviously k needs no explanation

unc had all sorts of problems to work out after losing hairston but have figured it out and are now consistently one of nations top teams. they are undefeated against ranked teams and systematically have ripped apart the nations 4 most talented teams. they have a top pg and legendary coach and get every rebound so poor shooting is a moot point. they are definitely going to be a 1 seed disguised as a 5 or 6 seed in the tournament. dark horse of the century. again, who cares about januaray? for example, old unc lost to wake new unc just blitzed wake and put up boo koo points.

cuse has "it" and "it" will be important in clsoe tournament games. they obviously will struggle against teams that every palyer can shoot the 3 but those teams dont do well against other teams and are unlikely to meet in the tournament. they also have one of those top pgs and legendary coach.

All 4 teams have a good chance to make the final four and people don't like them because most people think the teams that score the most points are the best.

ACC might be the best defensive conference of all time.

virginia clemson lead the nation and cuse, pitt, miami are also top 15. thats not even counting unc whose numbers are skewed by their pace.

UNCs defense is very good. 11th actually.

Not sure what you're looking at but Miami is 50th and Pitt 22nd.

To be fair I do think Virginia is good and, with Duke, by far the best two teams in the conference. Syracuse is a solid top 10-15 team.

"cuse has "it""

it = nearly 3 straight losses?

i figured the luster of your saliva on cuse's dick would've dried up a bit after they lost to a horrible boston college team, and then lost another game right after that

the greatest teams of our lifetimes don't lose 2 games in a row, period

--

and NyM hates Syracuse because he's a UConn fan

meanwhile, you love Syracuse because they barely squeak out wins against mediocre teams like NC State and Maryland

Of course, once they lose, they no longer qualify to be a historic team but their body of work was that good up to a point. Everyone has hindsight.

"it" is what gets them through so many of these close games. "it" is how you squeak out tournament games.

bc may be horrible but unlike most teams, they are specifically designed to beat cuse. Duke is as well and these teams still have trouble with Cuse even though they are the perfect storm to beat them. Says a lot.

"it" is what doesn't let you beat 6 good teams in a row in March

Florida and Kansas have the real "it"

Kansas? I haven't seen much of it...yeah wiggins is almost living up to the hype....but the surrounding team doesn't bode well with me.

I haven't seen any Florida basketball so I need to acquaint myself with their storylines.

I'd really say that Witchita State has "it" and "talent" as well. They are a well oiled machine.

Kansas probably has more NBA talent than any team in the country. Not that that means they will cut down the nets in April or anything. But the close wins that Kansas gets often is a result of them being more talented than anyone else and making plays down the stretch. Whereas a lot of Syracuse's close wins are a result of Ennis or Fair making a play, or the opposing team screwing up and making late game mistakes. You could easily say Kansas and Syracuse are similar in those respects, but Kansas has a bunch of ballers and can win games when opponents hit 3's.

Florida is very well balanced and talented. But unlike Kansas and Syracuse, they play in a poor basketball conference. But their talent is legit.

Wichita State is also a great team, but their SOS is definitely worse than UF, Syracuse and KU. We'll see how they fare as a #1 or #2 seed once they get a couple rounds into the tourney.

Not entirely^

I think they will reward them with super easy early games.

It would make a statement, big time, for a mid major to make a number one overall seed.

But I do agree with comparing Syracuse and Kansas, I could agree with that.

I need to check out Florida...they may be playing poor teams but still can beat anyone in the country type of team and I dont know it.

I REALLY like Arizona and especially Louisville. Those guys have lots of experience.

cuse doesn't have "it" because they lost 2 games but a 6 loss team does?

makes a lot of sense.

kansas is a great team don't get me wrong and florida (UVA of the SEC) is too (although overrated due to the weak conference they play in) but these top acc teams are as good

kansas is nothing like syracuse. syracuse has a great defense. kansas only plays defense "Sometimes" and usually just talents their way to victory.

florida is NOT very talented but again, are a great team. they will have all sorts of trouble scoring against a great defensive team.

all of these teams mentioned are great but have 1 big weakness. I much rather live with Cuse's weakness than anyone else because theres just not that many dukes out there to meet.

Florida isn't a #1 team, and Virginia isn't the best team in the ACC. Unfortunately the records of both are misleading.

Yeah I can't imagine many top 10 teams would be scared to play Syracuse right now, esp. on a neutral court. Syracuse is 3 plays from being 0-5 over their last 5 games, they are struggling pretty bad as of late.

All the records in the ACC are misleading. UVA will get their chance to prove they're the top team in the ACC when they play Syracuse in a week or so. Hard to really knock UVA, despite early losses to bad teams before conference play started, when they've only lost 1 ACC game and it was on the road @Duke by 4...where everyone loses. They also beat UNC by double-digits, albeit earlier in the season before UNC hit their stride.

If I'm in the ACC tournament, I'd much rather play Syracuse right now than UVA, Duke, or UNC.

its obviously a matchup preference for us to play cuse. if we were north carolina we certainly wouldnt chose cuse out of those 3 teams.

they are struggling but grant and keita have not been healthy. Going to be interesting to see how they recover. Also "struggling" is still losing at the end in cameron where "everybody loses".

Virginia's SOS is misleading. They will get bounced early in the tourney.

played duke only once away and lost
played UNC only once and at home
most of their away games are against bottom of the barrel teams
all of their home & homes are against bottom half ACC opponents
plays cuse only once and at home
and to sum it up, they have only 1 win against a ranked opponent

The biggest thing that I've been looking at is the effect of the post-Big East split: The AAC may have more ranked teams in the Top 25 than the Catholic 10-based Big East, but the new Big East looks like the better conference.
