I'm basing my opinion on Mitchell being better than Thomas due to the fact that the Mitchell won the starting job for game 1. Now, am I saying Mitchell is worlds better than Thomas? Of course not. In fact, by all accounts, it was a fairly tight race for the starting job. But I'm confident that coaches who have seen the two practice for months are making the right decision and know better than any of us which qb is better.

Drew Bledsoe beat out Brady for the starting job... wasnt even close.Wally Pip had to get injured to let the inferior Gehrig start...
10/24/2013 2:58:12 PM
as has been mentioned before, one of the reasons Mitchell "fits this offense" better is because of his scrambling ability. I hope the broken foot doesn't effect that.
10/24/2013 2:58:20 PM
Why do I even venture into these threads?Time would be better spent beating my head against a brick wall.Somebody PM me after Mitchell plays and the consensus opinion is that we should go back to Thomas and I will happily come back and eat crow.
10/24/2013 3:00:28 PM
that's not what he said at all
10/24/2013 3:02:25 PM
inb4 It's not fair to compare Mitchell to Thomas. They haven't had the exact same opportunities and Thomas never had the fans/coaches/team behind him.
10/24/2013 3:08:59 PM
Jaybee, I get what you're saying but we've seen that Thomas is no Brady. In other words, Thomas was given a chance and he didn't exactly blow anybody away. And I'm not sitting here thinking that Mitchell is going to come save our season. But I do think that his running ability (assuming that's not hindered) gives our offense another dimension that Thomas doesn't. I can't speak to who has the better arm, like others have said, Mitchell has only thrown 3 passes. That said, because Mitchell's getting the nod, the coaches sure think he gives us the best shot to win.
10/24/2013 3:31:28 PM
Ribs, are you still 1000000% positive that brandon is a better passer than pete? as of right now, i'm not so sure, but it's still early. hopefully this is just a case of him being rusty. i may just have to check the stats for the second half of this game, because i'm afraid i might turn this one off.
10/26/2013 4:21:03 PM

He should have played against Syracuse...even a couple of series. Huge mistake in my opinion, because the cuse was terrible, he could have gotten some confidence and we could have been 4-2 heading into this shit kicking. We threw BM to the wolves this week, and we deserve the thrashing.

mitchell so far looks like a bad qbhe tries to make plays but he has no mechanics whatsoever and plays QB like a guy who was a WR for 3 yearsthomas just didnt try to make plays, which might work if the rest of the team had any talent (it doesnt)hopefully against non-FSU teams he can complete some passes
10/26/2013 5:35:53 PM
per espn, we join ul-monroe as the only team to give up 35 in a quarter this season
10/26/2013 6:41:50 PM
^^ yea lets make a complete judgement based on a player's first game back after an injury that put him out for two months vs the best team the ACC has had in 10 years

Mitchell looked like a bad qb....against the best pass offense in the nation. He still has more numbers in 4 minutes against LT than Thomas had in 6 games.
10/26/2013 9:07:55 PM
FSU has a very good pass offense, but I wouldn't go so far as to say they're the best. Something like 10th in passing touchdowns and 20th in passing yards.
10/26/2013 9:14:59 PM
meant to say pass defense in the context of bmitch
10/26/2013 9:23:13 PM
Damn, Rob Crisp is out for the season. Does anybody know anything about this? Seems unusual for a concussion. Since he hasn't redshirted, he may be eligible for a medical redshirt(?), but no confirmation on that.
10/28/2013 4:00:23 PM
Crisp has been a huge bust for us. Sucks for him and State. At this point it is probably better just to let some of the younger OL get some experience.
10/28/2013 4:10:15 PM
Huge bust? I hope he comes back, if he's able to.
10/28/2013 4:11:35 PM
^ Wasn't he pretty much the only 5 star recruit TOB got? I mean TOB as supposed to be a O-line genius so we thought we have a future Outland trophy candidate. Instead we got Derek Morris version 2.
10/28/2013 4:15:29 PM
I think he might have been TOB's only five star. And while he certainly hasn't lived up to that hype, it's not like he's terrible. We could definitely use him next year (again, if he's able to redshirt, and if he's able to play football, sounds like the concussion must have been pretty serious)
10/28/2013 4:20:20 PM
Brandon Barnes was a 5 star right? Now he was a bust
10/28/2013 4:23:27 PM
i think he was only a 4-star, and yeah, he kinda was a bust. what the hell happened with him?[Edited on October 28, 2013 at 4:36 PM. Reason : there was no "kinda" about it, i was just trying to be nice]
10/28/2013 4:32:13 PM
He graduated didn't he? So it's not like he transferred or anything...he just never could get on the field.
10/28/2013 4:51:14 PM
he's no Toney Baker!
10/28/2013 4:52:46 PM
Brandon Barnes' ranking was based on Safety, not RB. He refused to play safety which is why he never made it on the field.
10/28/2013 4:54:54 PM

he should have gone to TN, would have been playing in the NFL now but objectively, its funny because how often do you see: "Enterprise rent a car, NFL Denver Broncos"

^^ who do you blame? TOB?
10/28/2013 7:15:34 PM

^damn I remember that game. We had so many chances. GT went for it on 4th down, didn't get it, committed a delay of game so they had to replay the down. Ended up getting like a 15 yard pass for the first. Ended up scoring on that drive.Another drive, Greg Golden I think had a pass hit him right in the hands that he dropped. GT scored on that drive as well.

Forget ECU and Maryland, the next three games determine our season.Lose just one, and the team returns to being mediocre as opposed to being a bad team. Lose two, and we don't deserve to go to a bowl game! Lose all three, and we won't go to a bowl! Period.
10/30/2013 3:32:20 PM
toney is probably doing better than a lot of other washout ex-college stars right now tbh
