LOL at Cowherd. What an dick bag. At least the Panthers finally made a good move though firing Hurney.
10/22/2012 11:18:33 AM
He was fired because there was a rift brewing between rivera and hurney. If hurney stays on its hard to show any confidence in rivera. Besides why not get a new gm to evaluate rivera? Who cares about hurneys opinion on anything
10/22/2012 11:26:57 AM
His brilliant DWill and Jonathan Stewart contracts should earn him at least 3 more years. Knee jerk as hell.
10/22/2012 11:40:35 AM
is there any good candidate out there?

Jake Delhomme for GM... hey, it worked in Denver!
10/22/2012 12:00:14 PM
I'm with TaterSalad. Then him and Smitty can go back to making those awesome Bojangles chikin machine commercials again with exploding barns and the General Lee with a chicken head on top
10/22/2012 12:08:47 PM
Dream scenario would be the Ravens assistant GM and the Seahawks defensive coordinator. Doubt Richardson opens up the checkbook for either one though.
10/22/2012 12:21:13 PM
since, you know, he never opens the checkbook for anything else
10/22/2012 12:31:59 PM
even though I'm glad Hurney is gone, I still blame this year's performance on the coaching staff. They need to be gone too.
10/22/2012 1:52:17 PM
I blame Obama
10/22/2012 1:54:03 PM
Big Money throwing the coaching staff under the bus,
10/22/2012 2:17:26 PM
CJ loves Hurney, he gave him a shitload of money
10/22/2012 2:28:29 PM
Honestly, my biggest criticism of the coaching staff this year is the decision to switch from a vertical passing offense, ala the Chargers, with the read option as an occasional look, to using it full time. Clearly it hasn't worked. It's ruined our running back's confidence and made the offensive line look worse than it is. The thing is, Hurney was probably part of that decision, based on the move to let Shockey go and sign Tolbert.
10/22/2012 2:41:44 PM
Rivera needs to go. He is known for defense and the defense of the last couple years have been embarrassing.
10/22/2012 2:42:17 PM
this is only Rivera's second year, and the defense is a lot better than it was last yearagree though, Chud is getting too gimmicky...maybe theres a reason Derek Anderson, Braylon Edwards and Kellen Jr. had one great season, then played like shit the next year
10/22/2012 2:43:40 PM
I want to give Rivera & Co. to the end of the year. And I wouldn't let him just fire the coordinators to get another shot either. If he wants to fire the coordinators he'd better do it now, or he will go down with them if we continue to suck.
10/22/2012 2:46:58 PM
Chris Gamble put on IR, out for season
10/22/2012 3:09:26 PM
yeah the DC should have been let go after last year's abomination.I know there's not much talent on our defense but last year was simply ridiculous and half the guys getting torched were from the last 2 draft classes so something's either MAJORLY wrong in the talent evalution, talent development, or scheming department.Given how historically terrible they were I'd say it was all three.Plus, he wasn't successful in Philly either.
10/22/2012 7:24:57 PM
i really liked the panthers to win 7-9 games this season, definitely a deflating season for them
10/22/2012 7:35:46 PM
I'm gonna go ahead and get the Bill cowher to the panthers rumor started
10/22/2012 11:54:05 PM
it's been started already
10/23/2012 12:03:36 AM
hmm...at least its a good defensive draft next year.
10/23/2012 11:20:48 AM
Per Steve Reed with AP; Beason to be on IR by end of week if not today for knee/shoulder...the beginning of the end of the season. Where is Nick Goings when you need a body?!
10/24/2012 10:15:52 AM
Cleveland, Jacksonville and Kansas City are the other 3 teams in the league with only 1 winwonder if 3-13 would get us the #1 overall pick next year

From Jason Whitlock's NFL Truth's Column on Fox Sports
10/24/2012 2:33:08 PM
^ if you think it's as simple as that than I have no idea what to tell you
10/24/2012 2:37:14 PM
^^
10/24/2012 2:54:18 PM
doesn't Whitlock writing about race perpetuate the original issue? can't stand that guy
10/24/2012 2:58:06 PM
I don't understand Whitlock's argument. Any cries of racism against the media (if there in fact are any) about their treatment of Cam have clearly been unheeded, because he's been trashed from pretty much all sides. His statment about Matt Cassel and the flying billboard is totally irrelevant because it was the FANS that did that, specifically Chiefs fans, not the media. The Chiefs fans were extremely tired of Cassel so they voiced their displeasure with a flying billboard. The Panthers fans do not have a problem with Newton, like many in the media seem to, and so you wouldn't see that. There's a very big disconnect between how the media treats Cam and how they treat his peers. Some of it might be because he's black, or because of the Auburn stuff, and some of it probably has to do with being the #1 pick. If Christian Ponder or Blaine Gabbert or Ryan Tannehill play well, then it's "Hey how bout that Ponder/Gabbert/Tannehill!" but when they start playing poorly nobody even mentions them, because hey, who the hell is Blaine Gabbert? Also, Big Ben criticized Todd Haley's offense BEFORE his game this week, and it was barely mentioned
10/24/2012 3:07:45 PM
Bomani Jones has been on point all week regarding Cam, and his line "the only people who think Cam is the problem in Carolina are those who haven't watched a Panthers game all season" is 100% spot-on
10/24/2012 3:22:29 PM
Awesome article by Rosenthalhttp://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000084665/article/cam-newton-criticized-while-matthew-stafford-ignored?campaign=Twitter_atl
10/24/2012 3:28:02 PM
the cam hate is ridiculous. He's a second year QB. Nearly all second year QB's struggle because defenses adapt to them.We have zero running game, that's the problem right now. Our receiving corps is average and we can't run the ball.He has been inaccurate, but we're not a good team. He's performing just slightly worse than last year, I don't remember anyone predicting him to be in the MVP race this year this is ridiculous. Why are we trying to ruin this guy again?
10/24/2012 5:59:40 PM
I'm not hating Cam but some of these throws...my God man ... defenses don't have anything to do with it sometimeslike this one, I can't get over it[Edited on October 24, 2012 at 6:14 PM. Reason : ]

gifs are cute and all, but every QB in the history of football has had a god awful, head scratching throw or two during their career
10/24/2012 6:52:16 PM
if only he had just 1 or 2
10/24/2012 6:53:11 PM
you know what stands out to me in that gif aside from the terrible throw?he goes as far back as the 12 yard line...he throws it from the 10 yard linethe 1 yard line is the line of scrimmagewhat the fuck kind of god awful play call is that

J. Stew to get the "start" on Sunday, Rivera said they want one RB to get into a groove and they're going to try to establish the run. He said they'll be giving Williams more touches this week too. Great week to try it out, going against the Bears defense.
10/26/2012 2:27:24 PM
he is really not doing himself any favorsI'm usually the last person to ever pull for a bad season, but there is a part of me that would like to see this team completely quit on him a la the Bucs quitting on Morris last season
10/26/2012 2:44:41 PM
do we want to go 1-15 or 2-14 and trade the Geno Smith pick down? i figure with a top-10 pick again we could get a beast d-lineman or cornerif we're in this position next season, we should Suck for Clowney
10/26/2012 2:55:24 PM
I would like for us to go for a shut down CB and then pick up a veteran WR. Isn't it sad we are already looking to the draft!? Hell at this point, I would hope the Honey Badger declares for the draft lmao III
